Poor people.Well it is in Russian interests that Belarus is not a democracy but failed state.Today Russia is tired of Lukahsenko but it doesn`t matter because they are going to put some other bastard so this nightmare could continue.
This is against what Ukraine fought for in 2004!!! Maybe Yushenko was not the best president but he gave people the right to speak!!! To stand up for themselves!
Alexander Lukashenko is a great man. The western world is already destroyed. Free Trade Tarriffs, increase in immigration destroying the culture of all nations cos imigrants cant asymilate. Corporations taking over small companies and governments. Stay as you are Belarus. I love to visit this gem of a place and please remain "White Russia" as the world Belarus means just that!
I agree with you. However, may I come with a correction. You spell Belarussia wrong. It is called and named Belarus. The difference, is that Belarusia denotes Russia - all though there are many similarities with the language and the culture, but still there is a difference.
this part of propaganda is totally rulez, totally better than CCN and BBC.
some half-drunk guys, paid granma's that barely ever seen Milinkevich and his masters, and unemployed paid horders of poor polish, lithuanian, ukranian revolutioners
clearly shows what EU is up to in order to Belarus
Listen I am myself Belarusian, I don't know anyone speak Belarusian only Russian. This is a propaganda movie, they make you think everybody speaks that language.
Propaganda movie, it depends on the eyes that see. Try to see Belarusian state channels, that's propaganda! However, the street signs in Minsk are in Belarusian, but many speak Russian in Belarus as it's the most used language. From 1990 to 1994, Belarusian was the official state language, but since Lukashenko got president in 1995, Russian and Belarusian should be equal languages, but Belarusian is no longer taught in schools.
Although Russian and Belarusian have many similarities, the thing is, that erasing and neglecting your own language, is similar to erasing your own past and culture. It's a move towards eradicating your own people, if one doesn't know where one comes from.
Erasing past? I don't think so. My parent's, grandparents, all come from Belarus all they speak, spoke Russian but know little of Belarussian. Only the older generation knows Belarusian.
my grandma speaks belarusian and some polish.. she was born in Brześć (Brest) when it was part of pre-WWII poland. i only understand polish and i could hardly understand what the hell she says to me lol @_@
It all depends on what kind of qualities you want in a president. If you want a person of will, temper and an ability to implement a narrow policy into direct action, you elect Lukashenko. The cons with this person, is the failure to discuss the nature of the problem, to make compromises and a willingness to bargain with other actors. As long as the - the strong man qualities are embedded in the perception of the "best president", Belarus will continue to be an authoritarian country!
People don't want a particular president...they need growth, stability, healthcare, jobs and schools...Problem of Milinkevich is he wants suddenly to bring the Belarusian language into every administrative form of Belarus..this will not only bring confusion but also wouldn't be a good step into economic relations with Russia..
Stability is good, as long as it doesn't lead to passivity and statism.
I don't know to Millenkevich language policy, but prior to Luashenko Russian and Belarusian were equal languages.
I have never head such a bad argument as bringing Belarusian back in, thereby leading to confusion and jeopardizing economic relations with Russia! Each independent nation can choose on their own, as what language and partners they want and not choose out of fear to what their primary trading partner want.
You have to come up with a better argument then fear and what is appropriate if you want to be on good terms with Russia.
I would bet, that if Belarusian was made equal to Russian again, and the people supported it, the Belarusian flag retuned to the red and white, Russia would still be the primary trading partner of Belarus. Trying to influence others your points of view and mentality is the same as West European imperialism.
I am not coming up with just any argument, I am coming up with statements of Belarusian civilians who live, work and breath there.
There had been such thing with shushkevitsh in the 90's, his policy led to confusion and jeopardizing of economical stability. Milinkevich is a weak person..that is a fact.
The cons about Milinkevich is the weakness of compromise, in which no group gets their entire will and the result doesn't satisfy everybody completely. However, everybody gets some out of it, instead of divide and rule, which is the present situation in Belarus, which is a divided country about its language, history and the best way of governing the country.
Soviet mentality and soviet man (homo sovieticus) is a terrible thing. They're slaves in their minds. Soviet mentality causes big problems and stagnation in post-soviet countries.
Keep fighting for your freedom people! Don't give up, one day Lukashenko WILL fall, the dictators always do eventually!

Just learn regular Russian,Belarusian is just a dialect of Russian.
Dovoljno je naučiti regularna ruski, bjeloruski je samo narječje ruskog.
Просто учиться регулярные российские, белорусские лишь диалектом русского языка.
