No matter what the meaning may be, this song makes me so relaxed and helps me sleep like a baby. Just wish POTF wasn't so underrated. They're an amazing band.
As someone who has had depression/insomnia for 3 years ... this song describes to me how when your asleep your at peace. You don't have to deal with the chaos of everyday life. Getting out of bed THE most daunting task imaginable. You're safe within your dreams no one can hurt you. But when you wake up you just feel the whole world is against you.
I think its about a shizophrenic person (not saying its a girl but it might be, so I'll use she) and she is upset because she can't catch on as quickly as the others can and no one understands her because she's going through things that are in her head. And she cries to sleep every night and eventually withdraws into herself because she believes that her only friend is her.
I think the song is about a girl who has had a lot of trouble in her life and she just wants to die already. She wants to kill herself so she can stop fighting the demons. She is being told that it's all going to be okay and she needs to take it day by day and if she can just make it through the night then maybe things will start to look up.

I like this song very much.,but Not only this song..; They have released total 53 songs so far (from their albums + single tracks) and I must say that their 'Each & Every' song is so beautiful...in other word, it will be a very hard job to find a 'bad' song of them.. which has an 'Ordinary' lyrics.....

No this song actually means something entirely different than sleeping pills .. its about a girl who has seen an exhorbitant amount of pain and has gone through immense torture charecterised by loneliness and petulance of others.And here the artist coaxes her into believing that all her worries can be ended if she could just move on, if she could just see herself through the eyes of those who still believe in her and then she would see that reality is what we believe in. Not what the world wants

Not wanting to be reminded of the nasty reality, trying to get rid of the guilt one is feeling inside, asking the consciousness to fall asleep by lies and concealing the truth, so we can carry on with our "happy lives" in this "perfect world"
Sorry to say this but, the haunting tune and the words sound like a villian singing to his victim as he lays her to rest. It would make a good movie piece. Sorry so many see this as a pleasant song. I just don't. Still it is very good used in this way.
