I don't think Pete sold out. anyone can rant from the sideline, or mouth meaninglessness like the Greens, never having to worry about (a) making the tough decisions and (b) being accountable for them. Pete actually has a seat at the decision making table, and can acutally really influence decisions. he is nothing but courageous.
And the songs are still as great as they ever were....
I agree with what you said but you have to see this in perspective. Garret was once one of the radical voices of conservation and anti neuclar in the public scene, now he's aproving neclear plants and stuff (which i have no problem with,) people are complaing that he's not as far out and out spoken as he once was. he might be trying to meet all half way and i dont blame him, but u have to see were the complaints come from. Also the greens have flaws but they are still very good politicians
Yep-fair enough. The Greens have probably the best Web site of any Oz party, and you generally know where they stand on an issue because they unequivocally publish it. My issues with them are that they are a "Senate" party (which suits their goals presumably, nothing wrong iwth that, keep the bastards honest etc), but means they are less representative, and also some of their policies are a bit wacky and silly - can afford to be, currently no chance of forming a government.
Phil, you have been away from Australia for far, far, far too long. Peter Garrett and the Oils had split up in 2002 and Peter Garrett is now a member of Parliament. He is the Environmental minister in the Labour Government.
he played a big bush fire benefit last night in Melbourne MCG, not US forces, "Beds are burning" tube it, he looks good still, danced all nutty like in the day.

He sold out!

He doesn't really sound like he's singing.... more like he's having a short and jocular conversation.

As U.S. soldier who served my country during the Vietnam conflict in '71, I found this song a little disturbing at first, but I get the message...
Good comment!

Hey does Peter still perform?? Lost track of the Oil's, used to love watching him "dance".....used to think he was the poster boy for bad dancing.
