  • Anyone heard of the domino effect , not a restrained cyylinder in sight.

  • Great video, it helped me a lot...

  • I didn't hear mentioned if the cyl is over 10 years old who pays to have it re-certified? Or do they just exchange it and they take care of it? I just checked and I have one with ' 01 and one with ' 02.

  • I used this video to buy my first bottle today, thanks!

  • the plus on the cylinder means that it can be overfilled by 10% and the star means it can be filled for ten years, i have been in this business for over 18 years and they guy who is telling you these facts has a couple wrong .

  • @bellaquiroz One of his co-workers told me that too after it was published. I moved so I can't re shoot it. I should ad an annotation to it though.

  • Arc welding

  • very helpful video

  • HI! how do I know a gas bottle is fully loaded? I mean, how do I know if I got one that is partially filled?

  • @gerardopenya The regulator will tell you how much pressure is in once you hook it up. The suppliers will not cheat you because you can see how much they give you when you hook it up and private people selling tanks usually do not include the contents in the price so whatever you get is a bonus.

  • HI! how do I know a gas bottle is fully loaded? I mean, how do I know if I got one that is not partially filled?

  • Thanks Freddy. I was on the Everlast site and there was a question about buying a used tank off of Craigslist. Your video answered all the questions.

    U R DA MAN!

  • Coastal Welding in Beaumont, Tx. *Android auto edit got me.

  • Postal Welding Supply in Beaumont, Tx is the only place down here that explains the sizes, tips, and doesn't get all bothered if you actually want help! Great people! T-Supply has to be the dumbest bunch ever....

  • Stupid hissing sound.

  • this was very helpful

  • Thanks for the quick reply..I just graduated with ssociates degree in Applied Science and welding tech and plan on starting to buy my equipment. Thankyou for your service.

  • prices for the bottles!

  • @nlongor1 it depends on the size. look online or call your local welding supply. I rent mine 5.50 each per month that's not bad. The tanks I have are around 200.00 each to buy.

  • how much for bottles?

  • very helpful video

  • Is there a decent demand for welders-welding in Austin? Really am considering moving there someday.

  • @ACumminsCan I'm not sure. I have not looked into it. I don't think they are in demand here

  • good work thank you

  • Thanks for taking the time to share this.

  • Thanks to you Freddy and Alamo Welding Supply in Austin I just bought a used set of tanks from a private seller and knew exactly what to look for when I bought them. These are great videos. Keep them coming for us hobbyist.

    Thanks.

P.S. Alamo Welding Supply is the best.

  • We have Norco and Ox Arc, fuckers at Norco charged me $170 to bypass the thermoresistor in a welder, a cut and splice job. It's Ox Arc for me, Norco can burn for all I care.

  • Hey Freddy, I always go to Alamo too. They're awesome.

Any advice on where to get cheap scraps to play with?

  • NEITHER THESE WERE THE OXYGEN TANKS

  • Thanks freddy I am going to try that

  • Hey I just bought some tanks based on this video...And got ripped off!!!!

These tanks need papers if they are privately owned ! At least here in Akron they do. The tanks I bought had a company that went out of business in the 60's on them. I went into Airgas and they said they owned them. GRRRR!

  • @jeremcfadden 1:30 he says you don't want a bottle with a welding company name on it. I have never had papers for a tank. what state do you live in?

  • @freddytk421 Ohio, Earlier the video clarifies Big ones which is mis-leading.

  • what if someone just grinds off the company name and rental?

  • @nch8 Try it and tell us if it works.

  • @freddytk421 no, thats ok. I like breathing.

  • @nch8 That grasshopper was the correct answer.

  • @nch8 I am gonna try this

  • @jeremcfadden Don't do that. Airgas and Tractorsupply are bitches. Call around first to all the mom and pop places they also probably need to be tested.

  • @Bushougoma Cool story bro

  • @nch8 lol

  • Thanks with the info you provided. I was able too buy a set of tanks off EBay

  • alamo welding! FTW!!!

  • indeed a very good video

  • Hey for TIG, do you use and 80 Cu Ft or a 122?

  • great video! how much does Alamo charge for a re-cert?

  • Great Video Freddy. Always a good source of info. There is one thing that everyone should know. If your 122 cubic foot bottles have a company name on them on the rim, then only the gas company that is on them will swap them out for you. Almost every company I called have the same policy.

I used to use Airgas but bought some larger Valley Gas bottles. Airgas would not swap the Valley gas tanks. Got a good deal at 2-122 cubic foot tanks at $100 each-- full of gas!

  • @MrStevilKneivel Some places are like that. This place takes whatever tanks as long as they are not rentals.

  • excellent info, thanks!

  • if i wanted to buy a used 250 bottle. about what price am i looking at for it?

  • @rcfreak2493 call a welding place in your town then buy one for less than that if you can.

  • @freddytk421 the bottles that steveo928 has im lloking to by those my uncle has a brand new torchset without tanks used he said he doesn't need it and might give it to me

  • Hey guys quick question need answers fast.

if i were to buy a torch that uses Acetylene Oxygen would i be able to weld together two steel pipes that could sustain 200 pounds of pressure? im building a chair and im new to welding

  • is the 250 easy to lift in a pickup with out help?. how do you guys do it? ramp? just through it up?

  • @matt986423 put the top on the tailgate and lift the bottom and slide it in. if you have a tall truck its hard. I myself use a van....with all the windows down.

  • Hi Freddy, Thanks for making this video. Lot of valuable information.

Can you make a video about the different CGA fittings on the tanks? CGA-300, 300,510,520,540 all so confusing.

  • @DougPlucker I don't even know what that is. perhaps you should make the video about it and teach me something.

  • They need to hot rod paint those bottles.

  • great vid.

  • @freddytk421 hey did you check out my new video? How do you like that intro???

  • Good job right there! I just had my Miller Bobcat 250 Trailer rig stolen. I lost the trailer, the welder, 300' of lead, a gang box full of tools and supplies, and a 250 Oxygen Bottle and an 80 Acetylene Bottle were also on board!! Theivin....you know whats!! Anyway, I need to buy some new Bottles, so thanks for the tip for sure!!!

  • @LoneStarCreekRanch DAmn that's terrible. did you have the serial number of the machine and stuff like that. If you decide to get a new generator let me know I was thinking of getting rid of mine because I only turn it on to keep the cobwebs from collecting it's only got like 30 hours on it. trailblazer 302

  • @freddytk421 Yeah, I had the serial numbers and filed a Police Report! I probably won't replace it, I've got a Predator 275 also! The Bottles were rented so I have to buy some to give back to Praxair!

  • @LoneStarCreekRanch I hope they catch those SOBs.

  • can u make a vid about flow regulators and how to use them?

  • @iamaGod357 If a flow regulator is just the regulator that goes on top of these tanks then I already made a video about those. look at my videos it's called regulator basics or oxy fuel regulator basics.

  • great vid freddy but there is more to this

    tom

  • @tommmmmmmmx What else should I add? I really don't know. I could put some annotations on it if you tell me.

  • i can see why you only go there, it is cool he took time to answer all your questions. that is the kind of business that will get me coming back again and again.

  • i got 2x 40's for 50$ :D filled. i love craigslist.

good video, very informative. one thing i'd like to mension though, is that some bottles being sold are low pressure. i wouldnt buy a bottle thats rated for 1800 psi for example(ebay has some that are dirt cheap, but not worth it). most of the ones i see are 2015 or higher. and even 2015 is low apparently.

  • @Munky332 Wow I never heard of the low pressure tanks. I will look into those and warn people with a vid once I figure that whole deal out. What gas are they for? are they for welding or paintball? on another note. does it make you mad when I upload videos other than welding related ones even though I put "not worth watching" in the title? I was thinking of making an alternate account for that stuff but was wondering if it was worth the trouble.

  • @freddytk421 no, actually if you put it in the title i tend to not watch as you put it there for a reason lol its a good warning. from what i've been told the lower pressure bottles were used as old fire extinguishers, and have been converted cheaply. they're obviously not rated for the higher pressures - so a shade tree shop might get away with sellin them to someone not knowing and they'll have to keep comin back for more gas sooner than if they bought a bottle rated say at 2400 psi.

  • Yep.... I have heard bad stories about Gas Pony (Tractor Supply) bottle exchange program. Alot of people have posted stories about thier experience with Gas Pony on Hobart's Weld Talk forums and also Weldingweb. Somehow, Gas Pony was sued for some misdoings.

  • @jstrunck I never heard the stories, I just asked them one day about their tanks and they said they only took so and so's tanks and didn't take any others. I thought that was weird so I disliked them ever since. what's the scoop?

  • also how much does a 80 cubic foot tank weigh ?

  • @iamaGod357 I don't know I guess it depends on what kind of gas and if it's empty or not. They are very manageable I would guess 50lbs or so, I can lift them up no problem when they are full.

  • why is it bad if it says the name on the tank like "airgas" or whatever. ?

  • @iamaGod357 because you want to be able to refill any where if it has a name on it from another welding supply they probably wont fill it.

  • @iamaGod357 Because it's a rental tank and the property of the supplier. thats only for the big ones.

  • @freddytk421 Oh look a welding video

  • @steveo928 Not you too! don't you like my "test" videos I thought you were a loyal sub. LOL I get so much hell when I don't stick with welding, it's like people are paying me or something. Don't make me block you like I did to all the other whiners. LOL just kidding.

  • @freddytk421 hahaha ok, i have to put some up soon too, and hey do you have any 1/16 stick electrodes? i need some for a smaller stick welder im building (wait for the vid) and I only have 3/32 and those arent working because they are too big. If you send me some 1/16 ill give you the 3/32!! They are lincoln electric and i only used like 4 max can you help me out?

  • @steveo928 I might have some. I for sure have some 5/64 if you want some. I'll send you some in the mail, my treat. just send me your address in a PM, I'll hook you up bud.

  • Good info man I like all of the specs that this video covered.

    Thanks!!

  • @DustenDee Thanks dude.
