  • CF Martin & Co. The best guitars in the world.

  • Two of the world's most important philanthropic souls. Also great musicians ... poets.

We reference your works to help us get by, and make sense of this tragic world.

    Thank you both, SO MUCH.

  • Love it.

  • wow! that is awesome! neal young is amazing, as always... and paul does a great job of playing backup.... always the gentlemen and acknowledging other musicians.

  • They are both great and I am fans of them, but McCartney seems to be getting in the way here to me :/

  • SIR Neil and Sir Paul!

  • amazing piano! perfect song.

  • Love didn't break Paul's heart. Not signing a Pre-nump broke his heart.

  • Chills in my spine on this one

  • They perform well together.

  • makes me teary

  • Very Cool...

  • I have now seen Paul Mccartney, Neil Young and Bob Dylan live. = All my life's goals have been accomplished so I'll just sit in my room eating ice cream until I die.

  • Hope Paul has found that the 3 is the charm!

  • Due geni della musica di tutti i tempi

  • Geniuses are bound to converge.

  • amazing

  • Neil could stand toe to toe with any human on any stage on earth...but to have your song covered by Paul had to have been a great honor!!Id love to hear his memories of that night!!

  • Some songs are so sweet they make you wanna cry. This song is such a song.

  • oh my goodness. thank you for putting this up. these two together are beyond fabulous.

  • :')

  • Paul's voice melts into Neil's. its as though they are one voice... special harmony.

Neil what he must have been feeling..Paul with great respect singing with Neil... Paul you and Neil should tour..Without any doubt! A sell out for as many days ,in as many places, as you might imagine!..Paul and Neil WOW Neils leg keeping time, tells the story... anyone that saw this live, your heart had to stop. I know time must have.

  • love

  • I was here, I almost cried

  • when i go to heaven i want paul and neil to sing this to me

  • i get goosebumps from this shit

  • Let's hope that Paul has been hanging and playing music with Neil Young and getting really inspired to write some new material. I would love to hear some new Paul McCartney. Maybe his marriage will inspire him.

  • @nestorian9 I guarantee that his new wife will inspire him to write something cool. Good pussy can do that for you.

  • @nestorian9 In an article I read over the summer it said he was planning a new rock album for 2012.

  • Totally cool. Love it!

  • Two old souls harmonizing together...Imagine!

  • @sdarunachala You one short comment said more then all the rest of us combined.

  • Classic... No harmonies there to speak of, til the end, but it's nice to see them on stage together. :O)

  • Only love

  • wow......kind of a strange mix........young and mccartney......but it works GREAT

  • Date: 10.2.11 time: 7:39...'k..I arrived at this vid using the YouTube search engine to hear the studio-version of OLCBYH..& that came up but this was the 2nd choice. & obviously I watched. Re: Sir Paul..(I say this a lot) but What can be said? When I was 10 he was my favorite Beatle; & his solo stuff from the 70's 'was' lovely. Tho IMO he hardly lets it show hes' seen some tough times; the death of Chris Farley etc (No joke). He's Paul: Born that poor ol' Country Boy.

  • Great duet. Paul and Neil.

  • This is Neil's song

  • Funny to see the best artists sing of any songs this.

I lose my breath between each notes!

    Lets all grab hold

this is whats lifes is all about

    Thanks Neil and Paul

    so cool.

  • @Search42songs i verry much agree.

  • For all intents and purposes, that induction was posthumous

  • perfect harmonies from paul. best live bassist/guitarist/vocalist of all time. a real in the trenches journeyman musician.....billionaire. whoah. that's deep.

  • what a sight and sound...simply amazing!

  • Rock on boys! Love it! "Only love can break your heart!" <3

  • rock royality from both sides of the pond.

  • wow...i could watch like a hundred hours of this

  • neil young is amazing!

  • i really don't know what to say. That was oddly wonderful.I'm going to have to process this. And ,yes, I know this was years ago but I've only now seen it.

  • @benchomp it is Neils annual benefit here in Bay Area. All sets are acoustic. Line up changes yearly but Neil Headlines. This video is from show few years back.

  • the most beautiful song ever written

  • Nice to see them perform together...but Paul can't keep up on the vocal parts. He is no Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, or David Crosby.

  • Two great artists with mutual respect.

Note at 0:50 McCartney begins to do harmonies and wants Neil to lower his part, watch how Macca does it, he guides Neil, and even quickly gives him the exact note he wants, and Neil obliges to an acknowledging McCartney Two masters at work. Genius.

  • great man!!!

  • Beautiful two great musicians who love and respect each other playing such a simple sweet song.

  • I was at this show with a good friend. x

  • absolutely beautiful

  • impressive

  • I feel sad for all those who don't live in the Bay Area to see the amazing yearly show that is Bridge School Benefit.

  • @eyawn I'm not sure what that is but if the result is this then I feel sorry for me too!

  • um..its paul not john

  • How great is it seeing these two together? Seeing John and Neil together would have been over the top.

  • I stuck my head and Heart inside a Dreamer's I've never seen but somehow met and she ate them both

  • brilliant! what more can I say? perharp fucking brilliant and beautiful...

  • wow!

  • David Crosby & John Lennon(MIA at the time)

  • 2 southern men

  • Beautiful...simply beautiful.

  • So True...

  • old men take a look at their lives. Gods

  • magnificent!

  • Unbelievable!!!!

  • Mutual Respect !

  • life would sometimes be easier without love. but it wouldnt be life...

  • amazing

  • i haven't got neil youn in my youtube favorites........he's made to much good material to choose out of.

i have neil youn for breakfast dinner and lunch!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Two of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen.

  • Beautiful song.

  • they are singing about voting for Obama

  • get away from him neil..........or you'll stop doing poppy top 40 crap...yuk!!!!!!

  • @emaclynch

    ^dumb ass.

  • @emaclynch Maybe you should stop listening to top 40 and actually buy one of McCartney's albums like Flaming Pie and you might learn something...

  • @pr3st0nx that @emaclynch is fucking out of his mind ! im starting to think the world is ending how can people say THE MOST FAMOUS THE BEST MUSICIAN ON TODAYS MUSIC is shit OMG

  • @emaclynch are u seriously thinking!?? are U SERIOYSLY thinking.. u know who the fuck paul mccartney is? guess u dont.. what a dumb ass

  • @emaclynch what the fuck are you going on about you bloody idiot? Top 40 crap? shut up and just enjoy the music

  • great piece! and yeah, only love can break your heart :(

  • This concert is truly the best I will ever see live.

  • Damn lucky Bridge School, all we ever got was boring politicians telling us how good they are...and we couldn't even vote. This school must have some pretty cool parents :)

  • very... very... wonderful

  • WONDERFUL! Musical magic....

  • amazing proformance

  • thanks to Neil Young- the Bridge school can keep on helping children with speaking/communicative disabilities communicate with special technology. They are people too and deserve to be heard. Neil Young's amazing connections in the music industry always make sure these benefits are full of stars and those stars get interviewed by the kids

  • great music for a great cause from great men! hooray for humanity

  • How can anybody dislike this??? BeeGee fans, no wait, that me and i love this too , Wink;-)))

  • Neil Young & Paul McCartney ~ two part harmony~

  • We'll let you off for that mistake Sir Paul, you were in The Beatles, that's quite a get out clause.

  • These two together, savor this everyone, this is history.

  • stop all the old guy shit, these guys will be eternal, a million years from now some alien race will pick up this transmission and say "WOW THAT PLANET MUST HAVE BEEN SO COOL" i'm close to both in age and grew up with them, they won't ever go

  • fabulous

  • So refreshing to see true musicians who can actually sing...and write music. So refreshing to hear songs that are about life and not just about sex, drinking, and partying.

  • @JBmiddleOFnoWHERE i like sex drinking and partying

  • it shows that not all stars have big egos- they can still play together and enjoy each-other's different styles, and when they play together it makes for interesting, sometimes amazingly good variations of songs

  • Love it!

  • Two sweet old farts, hehe! Someone should tell Paulie that he's playing that thing backwards, guess 50+ years of bassackwards hasn't convinced him.

  • People like Neil shouldn't age. It's so sad to see the young fellow fade...

  • Oh boy, now I can pretend for a song that I have the guts to voice my real opinion like Neil does

  • ES IT TS SO GOOG IM GANA DIE I HARRPY MEN NOW

  • Wow...two legends there. Such a simple, beautiful song.

  • I am looking for a video of Neil Young playing "On the Way Home" solo, from this concert (or performing solo live from any other Bridge concert).

  • From HyperRust website:

The annual (except for 1987) Bridge School Benefit concert has been a highlight of the Bay Area's fall music schedule. And it provides a major source of funding for the Bridge School, to boot! A great combination of good entertainment and a good cause.

    Bridge XVIII (October 23 & 24, 2004)

Featured: Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Sonic Youth, Los Lonely Boys, Tegan and Sara

  • Love can break you heart

but the cops can put you away for buying it on the street!

  • @2JOHNNYT ya cant be doin that

  • Sadly, all these guys used to jam together, from the Beatles to the Byrds to Dylan and Neil, Clapton, the Stones, among others. Contracts were so strict, just like in old Hollywood, they were never allowed to record together, and if they did, they were not allowed to be acknowledged. Imagine if they had....

  • only love can do this!

  • I was very fortunate to be at this show. I still get goosebumps when seeing these two legends playing together. Rust never sleeps, and thankfully, Neil doesn't either.

  • @bobdoorag

    Lucky Bastard!!

  • it'sso amazing seeing Neil with Paul i just never thought it would happen.

  • Probably two of the worlds greatest songwriters on that stage.

  • @7kidchaos I'm terribly sorry for you :) I'm sure the person you pretend to understand forgives you though, along with the rest of us.

  • @7kidchaos While Im conservative yet pro choice I can see your concern but they arnt aborting 14 week fetuses here, if the women cant go the legal route its bad for both parties. As for listening to an artist from canada who hasnt ever had a "real" jobs politics, no thanks. One of the greatest artists of all time thougn imho

  • @7kidchaos It appears to me that it's the other way around: your righty politics seem to get in the way of your appreciation of Neil's music. I suggest that you choose: either take Neil's music for its musical value, or appreciate him the way he is, politics and all, and give the man due respect for stating his convictions. Why would you 'hate' someone with a different view than your own? Is he by definition undeserving of your respect? Don't forget the 'garbage can' in Neil's Rockin' in the FW.

  • @7kidchaos Uh, listen to the music? Fun? No? Don't listen. The American Taliban is joyless, just like the Afghani variety. Neil has taken care of his son his whole life. The Bridge Foundation was created because of Neil's son. What have YOU personally done for the severely handicapped? Adopt one lately, hypocrite?

  • @7kidchaos You stupid trolling turd. You managed to get in a bunch of your key wingnut words in there...heroin, abortion clinic, Obama...and as typical of ignorant people, you choose to say it in the totally inappropriate place.

And to everyone else...this is an amazing musical moment, is it not?

  • @smokeemonkee IT SURE IS !!!

  • thought this was whip my hair

  • Rock on, Sir Paul! Long may you run, Neil! I feel so privileged to have grown up and matured with these two masters. It's a pleasure to see them together. Thank you for posting.

  • @tome57a That ain't your past, dear. They're still makin' music!

  • Wow...very far apart...oceans...2 guys from my past Jammin...very Cool

  • peace love

  • You digress.

  • McCartney's a twat...

  • @jnkyrdd0g ur a twat u fucking asshole

  • Sorry, I love Neil so much.....McCartney adds ZIP to this song!

  • @ectowle. I do agree. But isn't it part of McCartney's genius to realise that he CAN add nothing. It's a perfect song as it is.

  • @braybeatles1 You have a point! I also consider, thanks to your point, that perhaps Young is a genius. Knowing nothing can be added...nothing can be taken away.

Was this concert a benefit? I am really curious how they got on stage together now! The song is perfect. as it is, yes indeed.

  • @TheThoughtfulwolf. Neil Young is unquestionably one of the greatest. So much great stuff!

  • @TheThoughtfulwolf

I don't know if anyone answered you, yes this concert is an annual benefit produces by Neil Young. It's for the "The Bridge School". Tony Bennett also performed at this show. I was there - it was beyond amazing.

  • @kerrgal Thanks for your response. No one did answer my question until you spoke up. How lucky you are to have been there! I imagine it was "beyond amazing". Thanks again for your reply. You are golden for your thoughtfulness!

  • Jaxdaka, Learn to spell you idiot. You're gonna get old if you survive your stupidity. So lighten up on us old fogies and lighten up on smoking that angel dust.

    Your Pal, DJ Mark

  • @ilooklikemeryl I can´t speak english very well, because I´m german.Greetings from the "stupid idiot",du blödes Arschloch ! (Are you able to translate the last three words?)

  • @jaxdaka You're excused for not speaking English well. I didn't know you were German. However, I was referring to your spelling. And I was mostly pissed off about your comments about Neil and Paul being old men, as if that was a crime. I don't care what your parting shot translates into. If it is an insult that's fine. We won the war.

Best Wishes, DJ Mark FYI : ilooklikemeryl is my wife.

  • @ilooklikemeryl You won the war ? What's that supposed to mean ? Merry Christmas and a happy New Year !

  • @jaxdaka "you stupid asshole"

  • no beginning and no end

  • I´m a Neil Young-Fan for donkey's years.But this is embarrassing."Only Love Can Brake Your Heart" is a wonderful song.In a sence.But in this Video I only see two old men.What a bummer...

Neil Young just released his new Album "Le Noise".That´s Rock.Paul McCartney is memory.Neil Young is in place. Put that in your pipe and smoke it

  • @jaxdaka If you mean you've been listening to Neil Young for 40+ years, you'd be GLAD he's up there and still doing ALL he's doing! And...we're getting older with him. Grateful to the man and for his music, I am.

    And getting older, I am.

  • Fact: There will allways be GENUINE and all the rest.

I leave it up to you and where you are...

  • When Paul McCartney covers your song, that's when you know you're one of the greatest.

  • Neil's second verse here always reminds me of John Lennon's isolation period during the '70's. I know it's not about him, it just seems to be a good fit.

  • you how awesome this is? fuck Paul McCartney playing a Neil Young song, man. One of the Beatles!!!!

  • EVEN KING KONG HAD A MATTRESS.

I SHOT MYSELF IN THE FOOT.

IT ONLY TOOK 26 WEEKS TO HEAL.

    13 FORTNIGHTS.

  • EVEN KING KONG HAD A MATTRESS.

  • =~~

  • Two of the world's musical geniuses sharing the same stage.

  • Touches the heart seeing these 2 giant

    hearts together singing about love

    and a broken heart.

  • My favorite Neal Young song--and I've never seen this until today...really amazing...its like a dream seeing the two of them on stage together--like those imagined pairings you image going on in heaven by those no longer with us.

  • Love Neil Young, like P.McCartney but together it's like peanut butter on sardines!!!

  • Thank You!

    This is Great!

  • I am sooooooo loving this!!!!! Paul harmonizing with Neil Young....this is just so beautiful, so wonderful! Thanks for sharing this!

  • i was there. it was awesome

  • Such a simple tune yet so beautiful. I love Neil for discovering and playing such a wide variety of melodies.

  • I tired to get tickets to this years show- but they went on sale the day before I tried- AND YES... the freakin scalpers have all the good seats and they are asking CRAZY amounts of dinero--- TOO freakin bad people are soo greedy these days. That would be a dream come true to see this show. I love the Bridge School and what they are doing for special need kids. Cheers to everyone involved!

  • Yes, thank you for posting this. (Smile)

  • Neil Young forever!

  • What I love about this is that both are taking the other into much consideration. Neither one is trying to grab the lead or be the star. In their case and in this particular performance it really appears this attitude is coming from the heart and not a put on.

  • "I have a friend I've never seen he hides his head inside a dream"

  • Take away all the excess, step back to the basics. Sometimes a simple message in a song is the best....

  • Neil is my all time favorite, has been since 1971. He is one of a kind and his songs always take me back to another time in my life.

  • Neil is my all time favorite, has been since 1971. He is one of a kind and his songs always take me back to another time in my life.

  • LOL Neil is keeping slower rhythm so Paul can keep up
