I randomly came across the website for this musical. I live in north america so it would be pretty cool if the whole cast comes to NA to perform. I really like LOTR so i would really like to see this.
It's odd to picture Legolas without the blonde hair, I know it never says in the book what color his hair is. I like the change though... I mean, new perspective and all.
Hey people, according to the site there's supposed to be a wourl tour in 2011, so if you missed it before, like i did, there will be another chance, allthought there altering some parts... but hey :) google lord of the rings musical, and go on the first site, after the intro its the 3rd paragraph on the 3rd page :)
I absolutely adored the London version of LotR. I flew over the pond 4 times so I could visit Middle Earth. It has been over a year since it closed on July 19th and i sill miss it. Everyone did a fabulous job - it was one of the most exciting productions I have seen - and i have seen a lot.
Alright. The idea of a dark-haired Legolas is brilliant, because variety is good etc etc etc. I love Orlando's version, don't get me wrong. I actually have a crush on his version as a matter of fact. So this video is about the musical. I always thought a musical LOTR was the worst idea I had ever heard. The books were quite musical though......Anyway. I might give it a chance. So to anyone who's seen it: was it any good?
if you can get over the fact that it's theatre, not the book and it was never supposed to be a faithful adaptation. but music, choreography, and performers make up for it, really. staging is just mind-blowing. even for a Tolkien-fanatic, which I am (;
@Minerva1928 it actually never specifies his hair color in the book. Only that he is a wood elf and Peter Jackson sort've adopted a blond=wood elf black or brown=noldor system. Although probably incorrect, I like Legolas with blond hair. (mainly because I am attracted to almost all blond men, or elf:P) that aside, I agree. Lothorien is a beautiful piece of music.
@orliluvr1432 Actually Legolas is a sinda (= grey elf). The royal family of Mirkwood is a minority of sindar in their land, ruling over a population which is mostly silvan (=wood elf). Also, Galadriel is a noldo and silver blonde in the movies, even though I personally always imagined her with more of a gold-tone. Though, it's possible that Galadriel is known among noldo for her light hair because she's alone with that, but I don't remember that passage from Silmarillion all that well. ;)
wow do u really know him personally? do u know if he be doing any more shows or what hes been up to since lotr, cos we would love to see him on stage again in a different role.
hi josie, did u get to meet him on sat? we actually walked past him outside theatre on sat but by the time i recognised him he had gone! and didnt really want to embarass myself by shouting after him!! lol we got to meet him in May tho and he said then that he has not got anything planned to do when lotr has finished which is a shame cos i would love to see him again in a different role. even tho i will the miss the wig!!lol
elo i met him when he terned up at the stag door on sat and then after and along with the other cast members which was great i would love to see him and met him gen
It is a shame it's closing but I'm sure (and I very much hope) it will come back again. I would love to see a French version of this
I went to see it a few months ago for a birthday. A magical experience - go while you can! Is a lot better than I expected it to be. If you don't get to see it, then at least buy the soundtrack off Amazon - you get pictures on the 2nd disc!!
how was jon tsouras singing the beginning of lothlorien? does he has as well such a soft voice? would be interesting to see how other artist interpret this song.
michael rouse is doing it fantastique, I think. especially because he has quite a deep voice when he is talking ...
fair play to Jon Tsouras - but you should have seen Michael playing Legolas - he was so romantic... Oh sorry I drifted off to Lothlorien for a minute. I'm going to the last show tomorrow night - needless to say I'm taking lots of hankies... (sniff)
i hav 2 admit i love him as legolas and i've seen the play twice but i want 2 see it again!!! he's way better than orlando bloom he cant act or not as an elf anyways!!!
@fadedsmilebrokenhear he can so act... otherwise he wouldn't have gotten the part. His style is just different and you probably don't agree with it so you just naturally don't like him. I like Orlando's Legolas alot, and what I've seen of michael Rouse's Legolas I liked as well. Their both fantastic
I just saw the show on monday (21/4/08) and it was amazing. Michael's voice was what struck me. I also much prefer his interpretation as Legolas, and the dark hair and costume. The 'elf movement' that he 'tweaked' was beautiful and showed a real ethereal sense to the elves. I am aiming to see it again before it comes off in July.
yes i agree& michaels legalos is amazing, we saw it twice last week& just got back from the show again today (24/04) we actually met him too today and he is lovely. he looks a lot different without his wig, but he is still lovely !! and the best legolas!!
we just hung outside the stage door after the matinee show, and when he popped out we just kind of grabbed him, well not literally! lol but i did get a hug while he posed for a pic!! he was very nice we also mangaged to meet owen sharpe(he is really cute too) and steven miller too. They are all lovely people in the show, its a shame its closing.
Anyone know what he's up to nowadays? Would love to see him in some other show. He is a very talented man.

Great video - thanks!
When I went to see this in London, Jon Tsouras (one of Legolas' THREE stand-bys) was playing the role of Legolas and he was a lot sexier!!

Jon Tsouras sung it really well too, very softly - he was considerably better looking as well! :-D
This is undoubtedly my favourite song of the musical.
By the way, what nationality are you?
Kimberleg 3 years ago
when it comes to good-looking, I personally would prefer the boromir guy, he is quite sexy I think ;-)
elphaba333 3 years ago
hmm ... I dunno ... he's alright but not really my type, personally...
Jon Tsouras was nice though, particularly as an Elf. Wish I had a picture I could show you!
Does anyone have one?

Wow - enjoy it! I hope it comes back one day, I'm sure (and hope) it will. What an amazing, spectacular and magical show.
Jon Tsouras was very Elf-like - his movements were all very fluid and graceful. Was Michael the same?

Yes, it's a great shame it's closing. I hope that perhaps it might come back one day. I think Tolkien would like their interpretation of his novel.
