Right, the reason Fred moves, is because, someway throughout the film, Will discovers, that they are 'evolving' lets put it, things like, coming out in sunlight more often, and they are getting smarter.

Now, they KNOW he put that trap there, and the big motherfucker wants revenge on Will for taking his 'mate' (notice how it's the only female 'thing' you see throughout the film? so, they watch Will, and know he sees Fred, so they put him in front of that trap, to trap WILL, so they get revenge.
