  • Quick is probably the most underated producer in the music industry!

  • i looped this onto a tape, yes TAPE back in the day and used it to help sleep !

  • I remember I used to get faded with this bumping in the back...it made me feel like I was in some kind of dream

  • Quick created a masterpiece that he couldn't recreate or nobody have came close to duplicating anything similar!

  • Trae used this beat ;p

  • What track?

  • @elektroindi Trae - How Could You; Album: Losing Composure

  • Yo, thank for the reply man. I'll check that. Swang has to be one of my all time faves. I play that track to death.

  • Nice song to jag off to

  • I Did my first Freestyle to this track when I was 12

  • Ome word for this joint "Smoothe"

  • This is my shit! But tell me why I heard this at a wedding yesterday during dinner! I was about to get up and act a fool... I had to give the DJ mad Props.

  • It's hard to believe this is the same dude who brought us "Born and raised in Compton" I love it, it just goes to show u can have a love for all music.

  • blunt muzik

  • I tell people at my school to listen to old school rap , but some people say it is boring.

Problem is they don't what real music is.

  • @openmindeddragontree

Those teenagers at your school like most teens are mainly interested in what's out now. When they get in their 20's they may broaden what they listen to.

  • Listen: Guerilla Maab - How Could You Do This To Me

  • i dont give a fuck what ya say this shit hard

  • i got quiks cd and i listen too this one all the time when im chilling ^^

  • Sampled Peter Brown - Without Love, anyways its nice version...

  • Damn this is my shit!!! I remember this when I was a shorty!! Quik is dope!! A REAL producer!!!

  • @JimBryanMusic Wow, so that's where stan the guitar man went in '91? And that's why Mike Sims and Colin Wolfe took over as bass/guitar players at Ruthless?

  • @JimBryanMusic Aiight, Aiight bro, you just may be right, but I'm familiar with Courtney Branch, Tracy Kendricks, and Robert Bacon (Total Trak Productions) working with D.J. Quik throughout his career.

  • @rclosure

And you're right about that, Courtney and Tracy were executive producers for Quik's first two albums, Rob Bacon has always worked with Quik all the way throughout his latest album with Kurupt, BlaQKout. But on 'Quik Is The Name', Bacon only worked on that one track.

BTW I see you subbed, thanks a lot!!! I do appreciate that!

  • @JimBryantMusic I know as much about this shit as you may do, sir.

  • @rclosure

I know and we wouldn't be having this conversation if you didn't know anything about this shit sir ;)

I double checked, and you're still wrong lol. Stan Jones did all bass and guitar on this joint except for the '8 Ball' track because that was Robert. Where do you get your info from? Because I'm reading the credits of this album right now. If you have this album go and check.

  • @JimBryantMusic Bro, Robert "Funksta" Bacon played bass and guitar on all of DJ Quik's joint. Courtney Branch and Tracy Kendricks were the guys behind the boards. (On "Quik is tha name)

  • @jimystic Wrong, bro. Robert "Funksta" Bacon plays bass on this. He has played bass for D.J. Quik up until '95.

  • @rclosure

I'm not wrong homie, Robert only played on one song on this album and that was '8Ball'. The rest was all Stan! Stan played all bass and guitar.

  • When you here shit like this and compare it to todays music its as if the nerds WON, Like 2pac said, I done seen to many real niggas fall to let you bitch niggas beat me.

  • Man I remember this cut. This was the best cut on the albulm mere xayal se.DJ Quick.

  • YEEESSSS! Can't get enough of this song! TY Jymistic

  • A master at work dj quik

  • people be sleeping on quik not only as a Dj but as a musician...he can also play instruments. stan "the guitar man" jones is a great guitarist. stan is on many songs by bay area artist and other LA artist...its easy to sample and re make beats but not many can actually play an instrument.

  • I like that track so much I tripled it into triple edit

  • the best Quik's groove for me

  • @sleazzydub for me too bro! and if u want to hear the dopest possible rap to this groove, listen to guerilla maab - how could you. it does more than justice to the song

  • Funk Mob - Fo Da Gangsta... some nice samplin by the Quikster

  • How sweet is this? This beat is nice, gangster as hell.

  • I remember hearing a different verison of this instrumental but I don't know where. I know he sampled "Hi Fi Summer" but I heard a version with more instrumentals added. I wish I knew where I heard it from....

  • This is my favorite one....Quik is a true musician...Most artist ain't even close to being on his level

  • I fuckin' love this beat.....quik is THAT NIGGA....this shit is just too fuckin smuv

  • The person that used this song in a pageant talent competition was me. All the guys in campus remembered me as the lady that used Quicks Groove to win the talent portion. 1st runner up wasn't bad. I won the next one...

  • @Jimystic Dude is legendary!

  • @Jimystic where can i find stan the guitar man's music bro?

  • @RJSARAH10

Well he has a myspace page where you can listen to some of his music, other than that I don't really know.

  • i hate when good rappers r under rated and suck ass rap killaz r over rated

  • love this

  • That's probably exactly why he left it alone ; )

  • I had this on tape I love this song

  • This here takes me back. I was in grade school when I first heard this beat. It made my young butt slow down and chill. The first groove was the best groove.

  • your point is?.....naw... u got none....jus shut the fuk up and leave the g shit to us tru's.

  • Tha one that started it all , Quiks groove 1 man , yall just dont know how Classic this hit is and how Unique its is .. man Dope Quik shit ...... 1991 ....

  • DJ Quik is the most underrated producer in the whole game. And on top of that he can rhyme. I really wish the West was still on top of the rap game

  • All of them are bangin.Rogers is my favorite.R.I.P

  • the quicks grooves are sort of like teddys jam from guy?

  • Hm not really I guess, Teddy's jam was more like a solo thing cos he was in a group plus Quik's Grooves usually don't have any vocals.

  • except for quiks grove "7" (8)

  • True, that's why I said usually. Cos I didn't wanna explain too much since I'd have to write more, which I now have done anyway LOL.

  • im uploading my own video with all my cds inspired by yours. Have you heard late nite by 2pac with dj quik & amg?

  • Cool!

Yes I have, I like it better than the other version.

this is one of the cuts i would "quikly" sample if i had producer-skills. the idea is in place already. all u need to do is speed-it-up or slow-it-down, drip-it drop-it pick-it-up, twist and turn it and BOOM!... its MY moneymaker lol.

  • this sounds alot like death around the corner by Tupac. dope as hell!

  • This beat is what made me really dig this dude back in the day. I love smooth jazz music and this would be good on a jazz station. It is just over too quickly.

  • Pastor Troy did a song with this beat on his Hell To Pay CD, pretty damn tight. Quick's a genius and I feel Troy did this song well, captured the mood very well.

  • What's the name of that song? I'd like to hear it.

  • Dayamm, this beat is so hard, this is when quick was on that gangsta tip...

  • sounds like 50 cent had this in mind when he did the hook for "surrounded by hoes"

  • pff u cant think of fifty when u hear this shit man.. fifty is nothing compared to quik.

    Quik is genius.

  • I rode the hell out this song when I

attended college in Atlanta in 1991!

    Smooth schit!

  • awesome beat! quik is my biggestinfluences. keep the reaö gfunk alive!!

  • this is the best one out of all of dem

  • TRUE.

  • Quik's groove is as cool as this one.

  • I knew this sounded familiar, I remember hearing this when I was a kid.

  • I use to love putting this on repeat and slow fucking my gf to it...

  • Naw, you had it right the first time. Quik is and was underrated and underappreciated. I honestly think his MUSICAL prowess was better than most of the cats that made all of the cheeese.

Like i have said on previous posts, Quik has more SOUL and FUNK than any of them, hands down.

Although it was rap and/or hip-hop Quik was makin' "grown folks music" and many just weren't mature enough to appreciate it whyen he was at the top of his game.

  • hey Jimy, I'm a sample expert and Quik didn't sample this song for his song because on Quik's first album when he sampled...he took the majority of the original songs without doing much work to them... you don't hear the guitars on Quik's groove at all, this song is nice though!!!!

  • Classic

  • I use to ride out to my girls house every friday to this track.

  • This is one of the most underated record producers within the history of hip-hop!

  • True True

  • dis some smooth shit big ups to quik'

  • You're welcome!

  • dope groove. love it on the live at HOB.
