Ok so my kids go to bed at 8 and they are 4 & 5. If I were to put them for a nap, their bed time would extend to 10 or 11. Soooo, the point is, naps should stop at the very, very latest 3 years old and that would only be if the child still requires it. NOT cuz the parents require it....Sheesh!! You made them. @JonVonD Actually, there have been at least two black families on this show. I remember one called the Webb family. Also, there have been white parents on here who spank, slap, and even use a belt on their kids, yet the kids are still so out of control that they have to call supernanny. So obviously simply smacking the kids around isn't some magical solution that produces perfect children.

billy is so adorable...did anyone notice the evil smirk he had on his face when he was 1st put on time out. PS: Siesta (nap in America) is good for growing kids because it helps with growth & development. This family over did it because siesta should be at least 60mins but no more than 75mins to avoid oversleeping. Oversleeping then makes it hard for them to sleep at night (which causes restlessness, sleeplessness and tantrum of all kinds).

Assuming the kids get up at 7am, they've only got 6 and a half hours until they get stuck back in bed for naptime. When they get up at 4:30 or in billy's case, 5:30, they've only got 3 hours and 2 hours left until they go to bed again. Most of the evening time will be supper, bath and bedtime anyway.

There not doing much during the course of a day.

At 6 years old, she doesn't need a nap, that's why she says "I hate naps", and on top of that her mum wants her in bed at 7.30pm, which is very early. It's either the case that she'll struggle getting to sleep or she will just wake up before dawn in the morning. Her parents just want some child-free time and it's verging on being ridiculous

well naps can actually calm someone down if your a troublesome kid and you take a nap parents have a little time to themselves. plus sleeping at 7:30pm makes you less sleepy in the morning and it gets you better time to get ready if you have school

I don't think you can make a child sleep longer than it needs to, and there are other ways to calm down a hyperactive kid.

In this show, the 6-year-old girl is not hyper, she doesn't need calming down, she just needs to learn how to be respectful, cuz she has a bit of an attitude

Maybe because she is using the same types of techniques and they work (regardless of the familly or situation). Also some of the techniques are pretty cool. Like 'fishing' for chores, or implicating the children in chores making it look like a game almost!

now i dont have any kids and i know that if you let a child take a long nap during the day that it would b hard to get them 2 sleep at night. i babysit my 8 month old niece for 2 wks! and i learned that quick! i put her on a good schedule to where every night that i had her for that short amount of time she would fall asleep normally around 9 or 10 and wont wake until 8 or 9 the next morning.

The problem with a lot of these families is that they have too many kids, and they allow the kids too much choices. You should be able to say to the kid "you threw the book, so I'm not going to read to you until you pick it up and apologize." If he doesn't apologize, walk out of the room. Period.
