  • Like TreecricketFan said, the head color and antennae are very good keys to the identity of tree crickets. But by the sound of the call and the fact that it has a "reddish tint" on the head, as well as your location, I'm going to guess that this is a Broad-Winged tree cricket (Oecanthus latipennis). Though dark, you can just make out the lower segments of the antenna, which appear darker than the rest. The reddish color on the heads of Broad-Wings extends just about half-way up the antennae.

  • i got one in my house now

  • hahah V " i am looking for this *kind* cricket" hahaha that's hilarious

  • this sound was coming from my window sill all night last night. i was so fucking pissed off.

  • Hi, and thanks! I'm not much of a "video wiz"...this is pretty much how it came out of the camera. But if you pause it at about 1:29, it looks like his head has an orange or reddish-pink tint to it. I remember noticing that when I took the clup. It's not as "RED" as some I've seen, but there's a definitely color to it.

  • Is there anyway you can lighten up this video? If we could see the head and color of the antenna, we might be able to tell you the species.

The way the light shines on his wings is wonderful -- really makes that 'heart' stand out!
