I'm running it with the O2 sensor disconnected (open loop, I think) and the fi2000 set at about 1.75 - 3.75 - 1.75. Best results at those settings with a little pop on hard decel no matter what they're set at, but it's not bad.
Does installing the different exhaust force you to change anything with the motor? My dad owns a V-Star 1300T like yours but it's red, [I have a video of it] and he's looking at getting a different exhaust, but doesn't want to have to deal with a buncha other stuff like changing the air fuel and doesn't want the back pressure changed dramatically in a bad way. Have you experienced any troubles?
With a new exhaust you'd probably have to get a fuel processor of some type or you'll more than likely have backfiring and popping. Even with exhaust, air kit, and fuel processor I still get an occassional pop on a hard decel, but it's not bad. I've tried adjusting the settings a million times but can't get rid of it, but like I said it's only on a HARD decel and it's just a little pop. Other than that, no problems at all except more horsepower!!
Also, I'd suggest the HardKrome 3" Big Straights for an exhaust. If you look on here for some videos I think they sound the best on our bike. If I had it to do again that's what I'd go with.
the HardKrome's sound real nice. Little loud though, my dad wants something with a good sound, that just enhances it from stock, but not too loud. He's been looking at Cobra exhausts, they sound nice too. I like the ones in this video

They sound nice, and don't sound like they are too loud either.
I don't think my dad will ever go away from stock though.
Nope, but that's what the Cobra fi2000 is for, it lets you adjust the fuel mixture to keep it from running too lean or rich which is why you don't hear any popping or backfiring on the video. It actually suprised me with how much power this cruiser has, especially after those 3 mods.
Hey
My husband has also a Midnight 1300...the question is ????can you give us more details

Can you describe the process for drilling the airbox? Did you do that or did a shop do it for you? Thanks

With the cobra Fi2000, V&H and thunder air kit. What settings did you put the Fi2000 on?

what does drilling the air box do?
jriodel361 3 years ago
It lets more air into the motor = more horsepower
rumpstumpr 3 years ago
Doesn't that make the bike run a little lean?

I know you drilled the air box. Did you upgrade the air filter?
cmlos 3 years ago
Stock filter, K&N doesn't make a filter for the 1300 yet, but I've since added a Thunder Air Kit which provides a huge improvement.

Sounds good. Was it easy to install? Thanks.

Thanks, I paid to have it installed by the dealer.
