  • Welcome to Poland... -,-

  • 0.00 euro would still be to much road tax to drive on the shit roads in Ireland outside the Cities .The Goverment should be paying us for all the repairs from the pot holes .Lazy Goverment Lazy Councils were all being screwed .They should go the extra mile & charge pedestrians high road tax (smelly hippies & famers should be charged double ), then there will be pathways to walk on rather than roads .

  • I know it well pretty bad, you want to try cycling over the cobbles at the end of micklegate if you want a bumpy surface.

  • Please no Mr/Ms Thehater2, not road tax (sic) again. Car owners pay vehicle excise duty, the rate of which is dependent on their vehicles C02 emissions. If your car's C02 emission is less than 100 g/km then your vehicle is in Band A and your yearly rate is £.0.00. So are you arguing that low emission cars should not be allowed on the road either? Council tax contributes towards roads. So my 80 year old non driving housebound mother is contributing towards road maintenance.

  • Hhaha, totally forgot about this, yes im old fashoned and still thought the tax was spent on roads upkeep. How stupid of me.

  • Ha Ha!The old "road tax" argument again. Motorists seem to forget that they came after pedestrians, horse and cart and cyclists for use of the public highways.Yet they still claim ownership over the road network.

    What a bunch of saddo's!

BTW, them is some serious potholes.

  • Presumably TheHater, as an HGV driver with a very expensive "tax disc" indeed, I have right of way over you in your poxy little car at all times? Good.

  • I own a car but refuse to use it for EVERY journey. By which I mean, I use it when I must, but choose the bike for first choice. For the privilege of having this choice, I pay the full whack of VED. Insurance too. MOT too. Anyway this video is about bad road surfaces. Bad road surfaces which can damage cars too. Point made?

  • The ignorance always amuses me...

VED is calculated on emissions. Cyclists are in Band A along with other low emission vehicles.

I pay the full VED for This band (£0.00)

The real danger of this hierarchy is the arrogant - I have a bigger vehicle, I pay more Duty therefore I have more right to the roadt - GET OUT OF MY WAY

These bullies will apply this to smaller cars as well as cyclist.

  • Thehater2: Cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders have a right to be on the road unlike drivers - you have to have a licence.

You haven't paid road tax for years - it changed to VED - get the terminology right!

  • Road maintenance comes from council tax.

  • 1. 'Road Tax' does not pay exclusively for the roads, it goes into general taxation.

    2. Road maintenance comes out of council tax, VAT, alcohol and cigarette duty, and all the rest of the taxes we all pay, as much as out of 'road tax'.

    3. How do you know I don't have a car, and therefore DO pay 'road tax'? As a matter of fatc, I can't afford to run a car, but I probably would if I could, and I needed to. But most of my cycling friends are also car owners, sometimes multiple car owners.

  • Motor vehicles and their drivers don't pay road tax in the UK, they pay duty. They are also only on the roads through being licensed, i.e. it's a privilege that can be taken away, not a right. Pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders, on the other hand, use the road by right.

  • Thats bad but NYC is worse
