  • Amazing playing, considering how little can really be done on that p.o.s piano. I would have looked a bit pissed too.

  • Anger doesn't always look so pretty :)

  • Martha with a temper, how cute! Now I love her even more!

  • ME LOVE MARTHA!!! :D:D:D

  • @dussekfan couldn't agree with you more ;)

  • I was raised on Maria Pirez's version, hence I'm slightly biased, nonetheless Martha is setting the keyboard on fire and more importantly this is note perfect.

  • I listen for her to do anything wrong in this music, but she never does. Greater contrast to Lang Lang there could not be found, who, in this music, usually gets everything wrong.

  • poor Martha !

they gave her a third rate conductor and a weak orchestra that play flat,

worst still, the piano is a very old, out of tune piano. the keys are sticky and do not rebound properly. the whole keyboard, if you look at all the keys, is uneven.

forget about a superstar pianist like Martha, even you or I would/should be pissed.

what an insult to a great pianist.

  • You should also watch CHRISTOPHE ALVAREZ performances of this concerto.

Many people say he captured the poetry of Chopin Larghetto Op. 21 !

Seach on Youtube for his videos...

  • i would like subscrive at your channel every day :) ^^

  • :59 it seems like she is not even playing (thumbs up)

  • yea...she is pissed...is that her real personality? she seems really nice afterwards in her Bartok Piano Concerto- with the jap people....this is really bad recordng- so unclear...does anyone have a good copy?

  • look at the end.

No handshakes, words exchange. She was definitely pissed.

  • it seems that she angry at the composer.

  • I assume you mean the conductor, and I agree. She looks quite annoyed with him about something. Her playing is wonderful as usual though!

  • oh,yes yes,I made a mistake. I wanted to say that she seems to be angry at the conducter.I also think she played very well as usual, but why.....

  • who knows with whom she was angry - surely not with Chopin ;-)

  • Haha! Col Legno at 2:04! Col Legno at 2:04!

Chopin Always thinking in special things... !!

  • This piano sounds really bad...

  • That may due to the recording quality... year 1978...

  • this is a sad chopin =/ its good though

  • MA seems rather unengaged in her playing

  • she looks sad because this is a sad concerto

  • Simply superb!

  • incredible technique! i wish i could play that smoothly

  • I hear you. I think every pianist on the face of this planet wishes that!

  • why does she look sad in this video? does anyone know?

  • I'm sure she lookd sad 'cause she was forced to play with such a bad conductor...

  • She played a very good Rachmaniov 3 with Klee...

  • JAJAJA

    XD

  • Anybody notice that? She missed some notes at 1:16~1:17(around at the 87th bar).Maybe that was a reason why she looks so upset.

  • Yeah I noticed...it wasn't too bad though

  • Thank you very much for this video!

Argerich is absolutely stunning, and her interpretation of the concerto, wonderful..

  • Sorry pal....I must disagree with you, probably she has a powerful technique, but the sound sometimes is mechanical, and lack of musicality. Probably the best interpretations you can hear from her were around 1965 when she won the Chopin competition....Probably the best interpretation of this concerto is the harasiewicz when he won the chopin competition.superior than Arrau, or Pollini. Harasiewicz great rubato in chopinesque form....with even left hand and soft touch prevailing over bravura.
