The reason Derek was pulled is because Julianne was up for Ariel and they were really seriously considering her.. and for Derek and Julianne to be Ren and Ariel wouldn't be right since they have a major kiss scene...

- My opinion is that Derek would have made a better Ren, he can sing and can dance circles around Chace. I think the people at Paramount just made a huge mistake. But Derek will do bigger and better things.-

2- Is the cast for the Footloose movie already posted?

1) Derek was in the London West End ORIGINAL cast for Footloose when it debuted at the Novello theater from 4/2006-11/2006. London West End is equivalent to Broadway in NYC. Derek also did two regional tours of the production all over the UK prior.

2) Cast of Footloose movie is undecided as of right now. Just lots of speculation.

3) In this video, Kenny Loggins is singing who originally sang this song on the movie soundtrack.

4) Derek played the lead male role, 'Ren McCormack'.
