Often times even if they are available you can't get the target properly targeted and the tactic turns inefficient. Also these are very expensive and therefor are only available in small numbers. Optics are useful in every situation including CQB, as iron sights will obstruct your view of the target.

@negatiff54 it's only the fancy aiming system for the grenade launcher that needs batteries, same as all other electronic optics. the gun itself will fire just fine without batteries and as with all supplies they'll have plenty of batteries on hand so they don't have to go ask for siberian goatkeeper if they have some..
