Interesting that Bush's first Secy of Defense was Donald Rumsfeld, who had been head of Searle, a big Pharma company, where he was instrumental in pushing legalizing Aspartame, which has been shown to cause cancer in lab tests. Rumsfeld was recommended to that position by Dick Cheney, then incoming VP of the US. Rumsfeld was NOT a pharmacist, he was a businessman. A former military man who, you might say, went bad.
