Love this game I hope there is a 4th released on any platform sometime :) While wishing I would also wish for a compleat and updated re release of the game for 7
Creating the script from scratch means I had to do a lot of testing, so I got better at playing it at the same time as I was improving the script. By the time I was ready to shoot video, I had a good feel for how to play it. But there's still a lot of room for improvement and revision, and I'd be interested in seeing completely different control schemes, as my script doesn't cover every facet of Descent's complex controls.
Descent has always been complicated. It's probably at its best on a mouse and keyboard, but I may revisit this game (or perhaps something similar), with what I've learned since I wrote this script.
The game itself is tricky, since you're controlling on so many different axes, but it feels okay with the Wiimote and Nunchuk once you get the hang of it. There's all sorts of different ways I could have done the controls, but I decided on one method that seemed like it would be sufficient for playing the game and focused on tuning it until it was fun. And it definitely was fun!
Just imagine if you had the ability to use the pointing feature to add the extra control. It might be even easier to control 6DOF that way. Egh, who knows, maybe someone will figure out a way to convert the sensor to the PC.
That's been done. Check out the rest of my videos. I used it in a few. I think I tried it with this script and didn't like the feel, so I reverted to using the accelerometer.
I never really looked at it like that. It's a forced-perspective trick. I'm actually a few feet away from the screen, but I guess it looks like I'm right in the "cockpit."
Really cool! If only there is a way for me to playing the Descent series this way! ;)

I remember growing up on this game, so great. I plan to revisit it in the future, and will definitely be using this control method!

Was it difficult to play Descent trilogy with Wiimote? It would have been very difficult for me!

It's on the PC, not on the Wii. The Wii controllers are connected to the PC via Bluetooth. You can get more info at my site.

Looks about as awkward as trying to play with keyboard only. =P Or like me trying to get used to my new joystick at first.

I see that now. I had only been hearing about people getting the balance sensors to work and not the pointer. Cool.

The way your hands are station in relation to the screen makes it look like you are actually flying the ship!
