  • goodness.

  • whys it tickin is that normal for that engine if myn did thatt id freak

  • @Slyder1212 it's from the big injectors

  • @kkage2 o i was like holy shit thats not good thanks for clearing that up

  • lol at those "DONEs" on ITBs!

  • How long would that engine run at full throttle, on a stand?

  • @seapeddler hard to say without trying.. but probably a pretty long time.

  • what kinde of tranny you use or what manal tranny cam be match whit

  • what kinde of manual trany can be use for that engine ?

  • @surf7boy7panda7maste you can find adapters to make it match up to the 300zx transmission

  • Lovely 8 piece orchestra!!! excellent work..

  • Simply perfect. I'm a turbo guy but I'd take this setup over a TT any day.

  • Na vs turbo is the age old battle from the 70s .... true a turbo car will have a steeper tourque curve all things being equal unless of course you tune it to be flat once your in boost also believe it or not if tuned well a turbo is kinder to the engine and once again all things being equal a turbo car will simply walk all over a na car its basic physics i recon the good old ausie LS2 with twin TDO4/5,s fuel exhaust and computer that would c ya right

  • sounds like a knock somewhere

  • Lol this engine is DONE!

  • I see what these people are saying about wanting power from forced induction but Fuck can you say "Throttle Response"

  • Woow that beast is a work of art... sounds amazing!

  • Actually putting a Nissan engine in a Nissan is easy...

Just because small blocks are a dime a dozen doesn't mean they are easy to swap.

  • aww no more space for T.T

  • @FTrain4750 There's space if you wanted to do it, been done before. I hate turbos, aspirated all the way for me :)

  • @johndixon300 I say that all the time and people give me such a hard time I don't understand.

  • @prodriver1 Because everyone is chasing numbers all the time and not drivability! Give me 500 instantly responsive NA horepower over 700 laggy turbo charged anyday. Seems everyone wants 1000 hp these days.

  • @johndixon300 I know rite. I'm in the subaru club in my area and they all give me crap for getting a stroker kit for my N/A engine instead of getting the classic subaru turbo, "but I don't like turbos" I tell them and they look at me like I'm crazy. nice car dude. I'm going with a MK3 supra and a 1uz-fe swap no supra turbo for me:) keep up the good work, cheers:)

  • @marek0086

Erm, its not cold just because the video starts there you assume it didn't run before hand when we had more to worry about than videoing it like checking oil pressure etc. - who's the moron, the guy who does that or the guy who makes assumptions about the vid.

And to check the throttle travel dumb ass - we'd just made the linkage and needed to check the return spring was working properly. And as I built it I'm aware its EFI

  • @johndixon300 its because some people love the feeling of a big ass turbo running high psi, makes you scream like a little girl :D

  • @areager

Lol! And some people like throttle response. Each to their own :)

  • @johndixon300 agreed, to each his own ^_^

  • @johndixon300 You can make a turbo charged application much more responsive than a NA at bottom end.

  • @johndixon300 kinda shows how much you know about turbos man...the technology that is used in modern turbos is light years ahead of what was available 7 to 10 years ago. Boost lag is has been obsolete for years. High compression engines that run that kind of power have loads of cyl washdown at idle. Basically you guys turn your oil into fuel (which isnt a good lubricant fyi) and then run the engine as hard as possible. Turbos give longetevity and response if set up correctly. just my 2 cent

  • @johndixon300 if you like throttle response, why do you prefer japanese imports? not hating, just genuinely curious. i drive an ls1 camaro, and especially with the m6 transmission, the feeling of throttle response is amazing. torque really helps with that. anywhere over 2k rpm, if you hit the throttle, it instantly snaps you back in the seat.

  • @johndixon300 I'd like to have both.. turbo for the highway, NA for the mountain pass

  • @johndixon300 you havent ever driven a well built turbo charged vehicle, its like crack, one hit of boost and your hooked!!!

  • Oh that is sick! Love those throttle bodies

  • this is the coolest thing in the history of things.

  • DATSUN MOTOR WITH GODLIKE SOUND! I'm sure this will scare young women and children with ease. + Z32 = EPIC

  • what year is the motor? thanks

  • @26byrondonis

    1992

  • Only thing on my mind was a dragon...thats all i could think of while listening to that beast!

  • What ecu are you running?

  • @Randomguymedia

    Emerald K3

  • Thats fucking awesome dude. is that a VK50VE? or just a VH45DE bored out?

  • Bored out VH45DE

  • @johndixon300 Awesome.

  • WOW

  • it sounds like it goes very fast and very powerful

  • nice power

  • ZOMG I jizzed!!!

  • im not really a big fan of swapping out engines in Z's or rx7's but i have to admnit that sounds effin badass

  • damn i think i need motor now lol love it

  • why do you call it a 500zx? when people who swap it into 240's call it a 450sx

  • Because it's bored to 5l!

  • @johndixon300 lol what does that mean?

  • Stock engine is 4.5litres so 450zx/sx, this one is 5.0litres so 500zx

  • oh ok... howd you do that?

  • holy poop on a stick

  • I think i just wet myself a little... omg lol

  • wow great job, love the sound, great work on the ITB set up, also what else has been done to the engine

  • 280deg cams, slipper pistons 12:1 cr, custom rods, dry sumped, flowed heads, tubular manifolds

  • three questions.

    1) what nade you go all motor route insted of boost

    2) what kind of numbers did u get out of this set up WHP/TQ

    3) R u running water/meth due to compression or a just pump gas and a really good tune

actually 4 question whats your redline

  • 1) I just don't like boosted motors, especially not turbo, NA is so much more responsive and you get the awesome induction roar. I'm not chasing huge numbers as it's a road/track day car not drag.

  • 2) currently 400/350 but its all in the wrong place so think the cam timing is off, need to investigate, torque starts to drop off at 5.5k. Will get around to it soon but it's good to drive even now so just using it for a while!

  • 3) No, just 99RON pump fuel and tune. Reline is 9000 but currently set to 8.5 as no point revving out with cam timing issues as they are

  • awesome work, awesome engine. give it some throttle and it barely vibrates, smooth as silk

  • thats wat should of came stock. ok ok

  • cool car what the hell is that motor out of?

  • Infiniti Q45. Been tweaked a bit though :)

  • "done done done done done done done done" lol very sexy sound it makes

  • Comment removed

  • awesome

  • sounds great but those are some ugly ITBs

  • Who cares, its ITB's..... lol

Awsome car, the only proper engine for a Z32 IMO.

  • oh i know this and who cares unless it can destroy anything next to it lol

  • japanese muscle lol

  • Sounds absolutely evil! I might be interested in the spare 'busa ITB's at some stage... But I've gotta get the engine shipped over to me 1st!

  • what the fuck is that knocking sound it sounds like a rod bearing

  • See previous comments!

Big cams / solid lifters / slipper pistons / video camera microphone response basically.

  • Are those Hayabusa TB's you're using for ITB's?

  • No, custom made. Have 4 sets of hayabusa ones lying around if you're interested?

  • nah I gotta pass thanks though. I don't have the VH bought yet...let alone in the car >_> But i remember reading on NICO Club about someone using Hayabusa TBs as ITBs on their VH.

  • Holy fucking shit...

    Music to my ears.

  • oh my god... that is scary! lol

  • Have you seen the 5.1 stroker kit for these motors...that with the VK heads would be sick with your ITB setup

  • Yeah, think it was IMPUL. Was close to £10k though! This one is bored only to give 5.0l. The heads are ported pretty heavily too. I'd be surprised if the VK56 fit, it looks like a more open deck design?

  • VK45 heads?

I've been comparing notes between the VK56 and VK45 ...looks like you might be able to throw the JWT vk56 cams in the VK45, a lethal combo on that engine.

But with porting as heavy as you say...its not worth it now.

I must say though...that is nice job getting it running and building it.

  • Good lord, that sounds fantastic! Nicely done.

  • I'm glad to see the motor running, A lot of hard work and sweat, tears and swearing have went into it. Logan let me know about this. Banner

  • Alright Alan, long time no speak mate! May well be back up there soon so will give you a shout. Can you shoot me your email address, lost loads a while back.

  • sounds like your lifters are tickin. Also you should not start a cold motor and rev the piss out of it because you will just end up damaging the block or heads.

  • rofl dude how do u even no that thing is cold... for all you no he could have started it and ran it up 10mins b4 taking this vid.. dont assume

  • It was not cold, just re-started after a previous run! Oil was 70deg, water 75! Lifters are ticking as has solid lifters and long duration/high lift cams. Doesn't actually sound that loud when you're actually next to it, think the frequency response of the camcorder mic must pick up the ticking a bit more.

  • OO ok gotcha.. Anyway that 300zx sounds like a beast man!! Good job and well done.

When you get a chance come check out my 750+hp VG30DETT monster at my channel.

  • I'll have one please!

  • NO Joke

i am going to have nightmares about this....my first car might be a nissan 300zx im gonna treat her nice.

  • Wouldn't it be more of a 450zx?

  • Using a normal VH45 then yes. This one is 5l though :)

  • nice man ...amazing and it sounds like a beast ...and yeah people bitchin about others rides makes me sick like i got a ca18det in my car cause i wanted to do a 180 here in the states but everyone keeps saying oh i would have put the sr20 in it and i am like yeah u would have but you arent me lol keep up the good work

  • Holy mother of GOD!!

    That is one sick build!

    ITB's!

    5 stars!

  • Impressive!!...Most Impressive...keep up the hard work..if all the innovators of the world succumed to every bit of criticizm...we would have never made it out of the trees..ignore the haters..THANK YOU!! for thinking outside the box!!

  • Cheers!! Don't worry it doesn't get to me. My money, my time, my car, I'll do what the hell I want with it!

  • I agree, when you have the money and the time to work on such a project, the rewards are so great. im working on my 91 q45 to up the stakes for hp, so I will be breaking the engine down with a fresh rebuild, and new internal engine parts including installing some higher compression ross racing pistons, cam work and head work an etc. some people ask why, but I just tell them like are pres bill clinton said, Because I can"

  • What are you using for management?

  • Emarald K3

  • sounds like you got a btit of a knock, lifters maybe?

  • Solid lifters and big cams so it'll always be noisey. Having said that it's much louder on the vid than when you're actually next to it, frequencey response of the camera microphone I guess.

  • Hi John,

    Impressive work! Congrats!

But how about the hood, will it be stock?

  • More or less. I have a vent going on to let the air up through the rad escape but the air box should fit pretty much within the original lines.

  • Wow it's running, and it sounds amazing. great work :-)

  • 300ZX have a V6... Why is their 8 inlets? I'm confused...

  • Because I swapped the V6 for a V8!

  • Cheers, and yes, it feels good after all this time!!

ssdwellah, it cranks that long as I have an ignition kill so I can build up the oil pressure before firing it.

kmd76, Tapping noise is just as it has very high lift/duration cams with aggressive ramp angles and solid lifters. Also the slipper pistons are quite noisy when cold.

mr2ya, cheers. Couldn't bring myself to fit an old-tech 2 valve engine and the VH45 is such a nice unit anyway it would have been rude to use anything else!

  • You are correct!,

disrespect seems to run wild on the interweb.

    I love it!

  • incredible. prolly the best VH build Ive seen on it net! congrats!

  • sweet setup, whats that tapping sound?

  • THANK YOU! for NOT using a LS1-7!

Choose a good engine FROM your manufacturer.

Dont brand swap because its the easy thing to do.

Makes for a much cooler end product. GOOD JOB!

  • dude LS1 in a Z is far from easy lol

  • LS1 in anything easy, LOL!

Takes balls, and knowhow NOT to use one.

5 thumbs up , and FUCK the LS1!.....

  • @mr2ya yes in JDM cars but not in muscle cars or off road

  • This is insane John. How's it feel to have it running? I'd be walking around with a tent in my pants. For a week.

  • I have the same setup (VH45DE into a Z32) but no 5.0L rebore, ITBs, or 12.0:1 CR, and let me tell you something. The only thing that sounds the same as your car is my starter!

(except it doesn't crank as long with the stock CR) :)

    Bravo!

  • Awesome! Sounds amazing!

  • That just sounds the sex!!!

  • Great job, congrats

  • what V8 is that?

  • It's from the Infiniti Q45 sedan. They're full of win.

  • Awesome sounds John.

    Well deserved.

    Speak soon.

  • sexual

  • This is going to be one serious car!

  • drooooool

  • Who needs women when you have a Z like that?!?!?!?!?!
