  • Sorry about my previous post removals, typos in both! grrr.

  • As I'm waaay too young, I never knew anything about Mud until BBC4 started to repeat all of the Top of The Pops from Apr 1976 onwards. I love this single, unfortunately not on itunes in its original form, pah! I love asking my co-workers every Friday morning "Did you see Top of the Pops last night?" like they would have in the day and we'll talk about the new releases that week from 35 years ago! Such a great variety of music in 76, TOTP so much better than MTV! Mud were a great good time band.

  • Yeah this tune goes better with the hair.

  • It's like a breath of fresh air seeing Mud perform this song! One of the few Mud hits I don't have burned into my brain. Excellent stuff - they really move. Pity they only had one more hit after this, Lean On Me. Great, great 70s band.

  • I wonder how many times they had to practise before Ray didn't hit Les with his guitar?!! And I want that coat of Rob's.

  • If you find a coat like Rob's, please e-mail me

  • love Rays gloves,

this is in my singles collection

  • yeah those gloves are spiffy ;o)

Love Mud but not this song, but the video is hilarious ;D

  • Thank you Fearlessmudfan.....

  • i like mud, but i can see why this 'may' have been not too big of a hit and 4gotten LOL

  • a great song like all the orthers whit mud

  • my mum was a mud-fan when she was 15 years old,a long time ago

  • I remember this being fairly big hit-top 10??? I have it in a picture sleeve. I really liked this period-loved 'Show me your a woman'-just wish there was some footage of that...

  • they made lots of great records on rca, just no hits. cut across shorty was close. les was last to have hit in 1977 with groovy kind of love. although he had minor top 75 with a small label.

  • Very Rare to find Because it was during their time on Private Stock Records (also had hits ; L-L-L-Lucy & Lean On Me)

Most of their hits were on RAK records (EMI)

  • I think DLT wanted to be the 5th member of Mud lol. He always seemed to be introducing TOTP when they were on.

  • i remember this it was one of their less known hits, but one of my favs

  • That's odd, I was a massive Mud fan at this time (1st single/1st album/1st gig etc) and I have no recollection of this at all...weird!

Mud go disco, just bizarre..that middle section was nicked by Odyssey for 'Use it up and Wear it Out' a few years late.

Thanks so much for posting this.

    RIP Les mate

  • one of muds best.

  • After finally writing their own song, they had just one more hit with Bill Withers's 'Lean on me' before their chart career was rudely swept away by the Punk revolution. I saw them in 85 & 86 (supporting Sweet then G. Glitter) at Trent Poly, doing retro gigs. By the way, it's 'should' not 'could' (be dancing), back to 'Shake', this elusive track didn't appear on any of their albums, and I also have the sheet music to it!

  • An addictive song; The drum beat start, then that whoozy synth, with the rhythmic chords in the background, like on the Bee Gees 'You could be dancing' which was a hit just after. Ironically, with Rob and Ray's writing credits on the A side, it missed the top 10, but 24+ years later, Rob wrote some of Spillers 'Groovejet', then 'Can't get you out of my head', both massive No.1's.

  • ths is for all the people that watch mud, does anyone know what happened to the L-L Lucy video?

  • "MUD stands for Maniacs Under Demolition"

  • dublin 1976 hot summer shake it down in ballyfermot

  • Grooviest tune from the guys my mum used to be good friends with Ray's mum in the early 60's and he's still strummin his guitar today on tours with the Hollies,R.I.P Mr Gray & Mr Mount.................

  • I met these guys after a gig at the theatre royal in Newcastle.me and my brother worked thr as stage hands with my dad , we helped them in with all the gear and set the stage, after the show we ended up back stage having a few beers with them, they were a great bunch of guys, they were asking us what we thought of thr new music as i think they had just parted company with thr writers,i can remember my dad(rip) dancing to lllucy the wings ..that will stay with me forever..

  • please dont ever take this vid off here

  • This was their first single on Private Stock records. They also had hits with L,L,Lucy and Show Me You're A Woman on that label.

  • OMG, check out the length of their collars!! This is one of MUD's post-RAK songs and whilst it wasn't as big a hit as "Tiger Feet" or "Lonely This Christmas", it's still a cool song. Nice percussion and horns as well.

  • Can anyone tell me what happened to Les and how long

    ago it was thanx.

  • les grey is no longer with us unfortunatly

  • les sadly died on 21st feb 2004, aged 57, after having a heart attack but had been suffering from throat cancer.

  • the post about les's death was for maggieadams62

  • Thanks for the memories guys - fantastic. Les + Dave sadly missed.

  • I think all the outfit's are a bit bizare...But that could just be me!!

  • They did this song on TOTP more than once, there's another clip where Rob is wearing shorts and black and white stripey tights. A very bizare outfit!

  • I never saw this one. Heard it,have it but never saw it. Love to see them having a good time together. they always managed to cheer up my mood. Met Les twice in the 80's and early 90's. What a shame to hear about Dave too. Thank you for this one!

  • hopelessly mimed but we still loved ya. RIP Les & Dave.

    Great upload, Thanks!
