the bank runs are what caused depressions during the times before the Fed. The Fed originally actually was doing a good job making sure that the country has economic stability. I especially like to point out how they didn't try to stimulate the economy in the great depression of 1920-1921. The FED did NOTHING to get rid of the depression and it was over in 1 year and no one even remembers it anymore. However the second great depression was a different story and it lasted close to 15 years!!!!!!
Ron Paul doesn't actually want to get rid of the Fed as much as he says he does he just correctly believes that their monetary policies are what's causing the boom and bust period. If the FED implemented policies of the 1920s he would have no problem with the FED.

They are different but it's still important to learn from what they know and figure out exactly were they make their mistakes. For starters asshole your terminology is wrong. These were not "bailouts'. These were loan and stock purchase programs, many of them have been quite profitable with over 20% returns to the taxpayers. This is not about corporations but rather their employees and stock holders. Perhaps you would have preferred them to collapse and be put on unemployment and food stamps to the tune of 20 times the expense. Forget all the lost tax revenue from the unemployed. Think a little kid!
The reason why the bailouts happened was because of the Too Big Too Fail assumption. The Too Big Too Fail assumption was created by Corporatism and not threw the free market method. When the the housing buble burst there was damage world wide for home owners and for the mortgage security investors and banks. This was caused by the Moral Hazards that have been created by government institutions such as Freddi and Fannie. Under pure market conditions the housing buble would've never happened.
This is why this country will continue to have boom and busts periods. This is why the bailouts shouldn't have happened. Sure the damage would've been bad but it would've been over with and we could begin to rebuild instead we patched it up and when the next crisis happens it will be much worse then what we saw recently.

Ending the Federal Reserve is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. It'd be like us Belgians going back from the Euro. The financial crisis wouldv'e bankrupted us. Same would happen in some economically backwards states, creating a serious problem for the whole American economy.

the bank runs are what caused depressions during the times before the Fed. The Fed originally actually was doing a good job making sure that the country has economic stability. I especially like to point out how they didn't try to stimulate the economy in the great depression of 1920-1921. The FED did NOTHING to get rid of the depression and it was over in 1 year and no one even remembers it anymore. However the second great depression was a different story and it lasted close to 15 years!!!!!!

well I guess the answer is yes and no at the same time, a lot depends on the professor you have, but also keynesian or chicago school or austrian economic thoughts all do have some similarities. They are different but it's still important to learn from what they know and figure out exactly were they make their mistakes. Economics is still an evolving science so know one really knows for sure but it's amazing how much more in depth and understand Ludwig Von Mises had he was simply brilliant!!

Did you ever read Modern Money Mechanics? It goes into depth about how money is created out of nothing by the banks in the form of credit and these banke make a shitload of money on interest for money they never had to begin with. Good read for someone with a PhD in economics.

Bernanke is lying. His voice intonation gives him away. He is so intimidated by RP's knowledge of the fed's actions that he was doing his best to maintain a straight face. You can hear it in his voice. Don't trust the fed, they have no incentive to tell the truth because they have no oversight and almost unlimited money printing power.

As an Aussie, I'm not sure why this bloke wasn't voted in. He is one smart cookie, that seems to want to look after you Yanks and one who seems to have the best intentions for you lot. Don't take this the wrong way, but you Yanks are not very liked foreign policy wise, but Ron Paul understands this and IMHO would set your country right, politically and financially.

Did you know that within his entire Congressional career, he NEVER voted ONE time for a bill to raise taxes. I assume this is no accomplishment. For starters asshole your terminology is wrong. These were not "bailouts'. These were loan and stock purchase programs, many of them have been quite profitable with over 20% returns to the taxpayers. This is not about corporations but rather their employees and stock holders. Perhaps you would have preferred them to collapse and be put on unemployment and food stamps to the tune of 20 times the expense. Forget all the lost tax revenue from the unemployed. Think a little kid!

Also, it was a bailout... Why else would we have needed to do it? They fucked up, were going down, government gave them money. That is a bailout.

The reason why the bailouts happened was because of the Too Big Too Fail assumption. The Too Big Too Fail assumption was created by Corporatism and not threw the free market method. When the the housing buble burst there was damage world wide for home owners and for the mortgage security investors and banks. This was caused by the Moral Hazards that have been created by government institutions such as Freddi and Fannie. Under pure market conditions the housing buble would've never happened.

This is why this country will continue to have boom and busts periods. This is why the bailouts shouldn't have happened. Sure the damage would've been bad but it would've been over with and we could begin to rebuild instead we patched it up and when the next crisis happens it will be much worse then what we saw recently.

Sorry kid, there are lots of homeless children sleeping in cars and tents due to these events. Tons of injured without medical care.. Fuck holding them responsible. He also refused to condemn lead in toys and his free market policy would allow lead laced toys everywhere. He also refused to condemn Iran's crackdown on it's citizens. Those were enough for me and 90 million others not to vote for this disgraceful man.

Yes, because passing resolutions condemning foreign leaders are so effective in bringing about real change (sarcasm). He votes against any bill which leads to an unbalanced budget or oversteps the powers allowed under the US Constitution. You're missing the forest for the trees. Can you not see the financial ruin around you or the suspension of rights? These are the consequences of unchecked spending and negligence of rule of law for decades.
