Gold is real money that holds value. Cash is fiat (fake) currency that the Federal Reserve just prints out. It constantly looses value everytime they print more money. so its not that prices of goods are going up, its that the value of the dollar is going down. watch money as debt on youtube, awesome cartoon that explains how were getting scamed by the Fed.

You say "Gold is real money that holds value.", but what gives gold value. Products that contain gold that is purchased with other currencies like "dollars" gives gold it's value. So to give gold value, one must create a product that contains gold that is purchased with made-up currency to give gold (the so-called real currency) any value, which in return gives printed currency value.

What makes something valuable is when you have an item that you can trade for? To make gold valuable, there has to be someone that is willing to trade an item for gold. So, that item can be a product, or it can be paper money. A turd can be extremely valuable if someone is willing to trade a very expensive product or a lot of paper currency for it. Go into McDonald's and see if you can buy a burger with a golden nugget.

You cant buy a burger with a golden nugget because it is not considered curency, that does not mean that it is not vaulable. Gold is VERY valuable right now and keeps going up because no matter where you go or who you meet, gold is valuable everywhere and is used for something. Whether it be jewelry or other things, its always worth something. Cash on the other hand, is worth jack shit in some areas, because it just doesnt transfer over into anything of value, whereas gold does.

Cash will always be worth something due to the fact that businesses that sells a product with gold in it will want paper currency for their product. So to do say paper currency is worthless is not speaking the truth.

Why is it valuable though? Is it valuable because companies are making a lot more products that contain gold? Or, is the price of gold going up because of some sort of ponzi scheme going on with the gold stock to purposely make people believe that gold is now worth more. If all the wealthy people in the world threw their money into gold stock to get the middle class to throw their money in and then at the last second withdraw all of their money, dropping the price of gold way down.

If for some reason paper currency loses it's value, gold becomes one of the default currencies, because it has value without being backed by money, due to the fact that it can be used for many things and it doesn't corrode like other metals.

The price of gold has been steadily increasing recently, not because there's a greater demand for computer chips, but because there's a greater demand for a stable, non-inflatable currency, such as gold.
