  • This is the one where you can hear in the original someone shout: "AHH MY EYES ARE BURNING!!!" trololo

  • turned into a parking lot?

sounds like ballpark village in St.Louis.

  • @JPizzle1122 So you never said that: and you expect me to know...

  • How can that be amazing?! That must've killed hound reds of people!!!

  • hi i live in new haven ct for my hole life wait jory do you live here in conneticut? because i want to be on your show

  • In the title of this video: With help from Joe Collesano, Jory Caron, and Ezra Horne. Is that the Jory Caron from the "Is it ok to microwave this" fame??? If so, I've watched all his videos, great stuff. is he from CT? I wouldda never thought so.

  • Did you live/or still live by New Haven? I live in Milford, Connecticut!!! I would love to meet you guys!

  • @patttpatttyoooo - No, never have.

  • So many memories, from the concerts to the Nighhawks games. It leaves a nostalgic but sad feeling when I watch this video.

  • i became a man there ;)

  • looks safe

  • @JPizzle1122 Its a community college now, not a parking lot.

  • @63517489 its a parking lot. a big parking lot

  • All I gotta say is....Section 14...THE JUNGLE!

  • I saw Ringling Brothers there in 85...I think. I live in Indiana now. God, I miss home. The memories...

  • I saw Ringling Brothers there in 85...I think. I live in Indiana now. God, I miss home. The memories...

  • Only losers cheered this........Anyone who loved hockey, concerts, and the great nights were sad and brought to tears...........Shame on New Haven and Destefano

  • its fucking sad watching this, i remember going there as a kid to watch WWF/Monster truck events, if the coliseum was still up i probably would have been enjoying some UFC events there also, what a way to go on turning it into a damn parking lot...

  • @blchrrf39 it was becuase the building had become infected with espestos and it was getting to old it couldn't support it's own wait and was going to colapse in on itself and mold was growing everywhere and it was damaged beyond repair

  • i was there

  • The only implosion I was ever witness to was Cinergy Field in Cincinnati...it too became a parking lot

  • Parking lot.

  • Nice job destroying a beloved building which was fully functional when it was destroyed....the hockey team was asking for a 5 yr lease....Destefano sucks and so does anyone in NH who cheered this demolition

  • @blchrrf39 Oh please! It was a badly maintained eyesore that couldn't compete with the Hartford Civic Center and later Mohegan Sun Arena and the Meadows Ampitheatre, the garage was falling apart and a nightmare to get in and out of after shows! From like 1985 onward band's hated playing there because it such a dive. Supposedly we lost out on getting Zeppelin in '77 because they would've had to play there, they went to Boston instead.

  • not really "beloved" if you know wat i mean

  • Good start. There is still 99% of New Haven left to *finish*.

Dixwell Avenue would be a good beginning.

  • this is too sad really

  • LONG LIVE NEW HAVEN HOCKEY

  • i live in newhaven

  • i agree LBeau1234 im sad never will change that feeling!!! WWF all the shows in 87 88 89 "Rap" Back then 203 ECB for life Rip Bobby James "B.O.B" miss u Brother and j30 Big lost for the small town with the big city feeling!!!

  • My first concert too--David Bowie, March 22, 1976, and many other happy memories. Structurally and aesthetically it needed to go (an outdoor escalator?), but it was a sad, sad day.

  • Fuck Destefano. What do we have now? an freaking parking lot. Awesome! God damn I miss going to hockey games there so much. this is too sad and depressing to watch.

  • @LBeau1234 My first show was there too, The Police in 1982. That escalator was scary and at another show I got lost in the garage and was convinced my Mom's car had been stolen, thanks to a lack of signs, it turned out I was at the other end of the garage! Thanks New Haven Coliseum!

  • @jennifersman Wow, I was there for that show! Bow Wow Wow opened right? Had great seats, right on the side. I know it was an eyesore and the sound was bad, but I miss that place.

  • @LBeau1234 No, the Go-Go's opened, Bow Wow Wow opened at the Hartford show they did a couple of months later and when the Syncronicity tour came to Hartford in '84 R.E.M. opened. I remember being so mad we got them when they had Joan Jett at the shows in Foxboro and Shea Stadium

  • Nice Video CONCREET

  • They imploded many childhood memories that day. A sad moment indeed.

  • Try microwaving a peace of this demolished building!

  • XD!Taht wuld be liek......EPICK@!@!!@!@

  • Yep, not funny to watch i think tho xD

  • i cried all because destefano is a moron

  • I saw Motley Crue there once and Tommy Lee did this drum solo where he straps himself into his seat and he plays drums while being lifted way in the air. When he was done he unstrapped himself way up by the lights and went to grab this rope that would bring him down, but he missed the rope and free-fell to the stage floor. Then all the lights went out. Show Over lol.

  • That was the site of my first concert!

    TED NUGENT!

People were throwing bricks off the top of the garage after the show and TED was banned from New Haven!

  • Canes5Rings - People were throwing bricks?! That sounds horrifying! That could just out-right kill people... why would anyone do that!?

    - Jon

  • you ever dropped acid ...... didnt think so

  • @Canes5Rings Ah, but he did return in 1985 when he opened for Aerosmith, I was there!

  • @Canes5Rings I remember that show. It had to be '78 or '79. Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush opened. Death was raining from above after the show and somehow fans broke into and rolled a Greyhound bus across the street into the side of the coliseum. Man.........those were the days.

  • Why do voices always sound deeper in slow motion?

  • Oblivion172 - Because they're slowed down...

    - Jon

  • @JPizzle1122 im a redard, so whats the difference between an implosion and an EXplosion?

  • @sweeth3ad111 - They are both opposites. Implosion is an inward burst and an explosion is an outward burst.

    Implosion }}o{{

    Explosion {{o}}

  • @Oblivion172 i dont think i will even reply to that...

  • DOOD LET'S ROCK

  • Oh man the shows I saw there back in the 80's and beyond. I loved getting off the train, heading up that long escalator to the rooftop and partying like there was no tomorrow.

Anyone remember the old Twilight Zone on Whalley Ave? Good times.

  • hellz yeah

  • why did they blow it ? it looks brand new...

  • @toocoolforu Far from new, it was built in 1972 they painted it black to cover up the rust spots, ugly eyesore!

  • man that was depressing to watch I remember going there about 2 or 3 times it was like a studios when I was a kid I used to call it new haven studios RIP new haven coliseum

  • it sucks that they blew it up...i had a whole bunch of memories there...

  • That doesn't even look like a coliseum!!!

  • well what you saw wasn't the whole thing. before they blew it up, they took out the arena and seats.

  • Wow I lived near by and I tell ya...IT WAS LOUD!

  • i live 2 towns ovr and my house actually shook

  • i am from New Haven I ACTUALLY WATCHED THIS HAPPEN FROM THE LEVEL 9 SECTION OF THE TEMPLE STREET PARKING GARAGE!!!

omg it looked so cool! you hear 3 loud bangs (sonic boom loudness) and that giant rusty metal thing collapsed onto the street.

the smoke screen created by the blast and collapse was visible from aircraft flying 30,000 feet above the city. afterward, what was left looked like something out of the movie Independence Day: fire and twisted metal everywhere.

  • This would make a good sport: competitive sports arena demolition. They could score by the number of small rodents killed.

  • a PARKING LOT?!?! what a crime. i have some great memories of concerts in that place. hopefully they find the money to replace it with another venue

  • yeah, a parking lot I have to park in for work...a parking lot in which today..some nutsack decided to smash my window.

  • I was watching it live on TV since I live about an hour and a half away from there. Oh well

  • kingofeds - And I live nearly 3 hours away... not sure how that's an excuse.

    - Jon

  • Well, it's not really an excuse, just a fact that I didn't plan on going there and wouldn't have been able to just rush down there. I would assume that's 3 hours without traffic lol [Since it's about 3 hours from here (Just North of Hartford) to Taunton]

  • A parking lot? Wow, that's... great... I guess...

  • woot woot i was there

  • i was there when they did that

  • Hehe, look at all the people run!

    xD

  • A parking lot. What a nice downgrade!

  • Now its a big parking lot.

  • Thers another video of people running from the dust. And then theres this. Cool!!!

  • haha you can hear the camera clicking nonstop in the background!

  • i miss going to wwe

  • I used to go there for monster trucks D: i miss that ol' place

  • Long live New Haven hockey. The Beast averaged practically 3K in attendance during the 1999 season...bullshit they cited poor attendance as dropping a lease with Paramore for keeping the Beast franchise going. Sound Tigers barely pull 2K. Fuck the corruption dome, Veterans Memorial was a true hockey arena!!

  • Yeah, seeing Nighthawks games there back in the 80 s was always my fav memories of the old building.

  • I miss seeing the Grateful Dead at the old concrete dump.

    RIP NHC.

  • shit, u broke my coliseum (joke, hehehe)....

wow, peoples run becuz of that, on that way, did some people hurt about it?

  • I was there

  • Wow thats great!!! Take down a historic building that brought us wondeful events for a parking lot!!! Who needs hockey and concerts when we can have the Long Wharf Theatre!!! Destefano should get another 50 years in office!!!

    NEW HAVEN= NO CIVIC PRIDE

If all you people that showed up and cheered that day actually showed up and supported the place it would still be standing

  • Maybe if our economy wasnt in turmoil....

  • its the democrats falt

  • A parking lot? thats really no fun at all.

  • Hell ya! That's CT for ya! It was awesome!

  • hehehehe.......look at the people run

  • 5/5, that's just epic

  • LOL! That was on my 18th birthday XD I think I might have saw some footage of that from somewhere else, but it's still sweeeet

  • LONG LIVE NH HOCKEY!!!!

  • i live in fairhaven,ct and i didnt get to see it in real life but tht sucks because that building been up for sooooo long and they replace it with a parking lot...that gay they could of replaced footlocker with it

  • hehe i live close to there.

  • why is it that people always take down stuff to put in shitty parking lots... just get a bike if you dont like traffic jams...

  • I live close to New Haven, but sadly I didn't see this in real life. (damn) anyway, cool implosion.

  • where's mamouns? i think i may have seen a falafel or chicken kabob being tossed into the air after the explosion.

  • I use to live in 9th square right under the Coliseum. What did they do to all the people that lived there?

  • 1:08 there is a face in the "dust"

  • I can see it too!

  • Like in that "The Mummy" movie!

  • I saw several faces xD

  • Yeah! It's clear as day!!! Freaky.

  • if u look at 1:04 - 1:07 it looked like someone went flying

    LoL cool

  • LOL, it doesn't really look like a person though

  • why calling it and implosion?

    i would call it explosion

  • did the rubble fly everywhare no a bunch of dust did and also it collapsed not exploded sooooo i guess its more like implotion

  • lol a parking lot that definitely an improvement

  • awesome

  • dang, they should have just gotten a giant microwave and put it in there....

im sorry that must be your least favorite kitchen appliance by now but i couldnt help myself =p

  • at :49 through about :52 it looks like a clip form the movie "the mist"

  • such ashame.....many many memories....life is defitenitely not what it used to be!

"THE PAISAN FROM PSL" <<< Has videos here on youtube.

  • the people who posted this were there at the exact right time im wonderin did the have any part in this

  • Huh?

I posted this. On January 20th... because I was there, and filmed/edited all of the above.

I recently re-posted it, only because not many had seen the original.

  • o rely sorry for excusing u i just thought it was weird u were there filming it btw how did u now tht was gonna happen

  • It had been planned for months... it didn't just fall down or anything. There was a large crowd of people waiting all day and everything.

  • oh lol here i thought u put lodes of dynamite under the bridge and taped the results angain very soorry

  • omg he frikin ruind it by zooming in!

  • Well... maybe.

I was one of 3 angles - I was designated as the close-up angle. So, I did my job. This video is but a preview of the actual piece it was shot for - please check out the link provided at the end in the annotations.

  • That building was doing nothing but rotting there anyway. No one was using it

    ... blah blah blah blah.

  • too bad, i wanted to see if u could microwave it...

  • lol with a satilite

  • totally sweet! thanks for making this vid!

  • did Chuck Norris just pass gas?

  • dont talk about chuck norris. he is the "we do not speak of"

  • are u guys from ct as well?

  • Nope, Boston.

  • lol, "The demolition and removal will hopefully make room for future improvements in the area.

UPDATE: It was replaced with a parking lot."

  • wow! you can do anything with that microwave.

    lol it was awesome

  • cool, u live in connecticut?

  • No, no I don't.

  • awesome vid! too bad it wasn't an EXplosion!

  • What a great job that must be.

  • Quote "New Haven, Connecticut's beloved sports and music arena" was replaced with a parking lot. Lmao. Let me guess, the parking lot was one for Wal-Mart?

  • no not walmart

  • a parking lot... lol

  • hey i live in new haven CT i remember this lol it was sick i got a video of it too i should post it

  • HOLY F***ING SHIT!!!!!

  • Comment # 100 here saying HOLY CRAP!!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • dominoes!

  • It must be fun to clean that up huh? =P

  • Your government is lying to you! This was OBVIOUSLY brought down by a hijacked airplane! Stop drinking the Kool Aid people!

  • lol

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY COLIS.... wait... nevermind, I don't HAVE a coliseum. It's always amazing to me how they can engineer the destruction of a massive building such that it doesn't harm any of the buildings near by. Kudos on this fine specimen.

  • all an implosion is is when you blow up the support of a building using low yield explosives

  • Implosions are always cool. Always.

  • microwave the pieces.

  • +1 =p

  • lol

  • Yeah, I watched it on tv. Southeastern CT.

  • i could hear it from my house..i live in CT

  • NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! i could have skated in there!!!!!!

  • I think it was classified as a implosion because you dont see nothing falling out from the structure, it all falls down or in.

  • niceeeee but not the same as blowing shit up in a microwave. :] named sandra, or helga, or diane... POOR DIANE!

  • lol sweet, but a bit different from imploding a microwave

  • that was not imploding, that was demolishing, wth? lol

  • Well, the officials who did it classified it as an implosion. Although I would have to agree, it doesn't always look like one.

  • A Parking lot over that?! That's stupid! I heard rumors that New Haven was planning on building a hotel over the site, but I guess those rumors are dead.

  • I lived in New Haven for six months and it wasn't that bad, as a previous poster has stated, but then again I am originally from Hartford. Hartford is a pit of despair.

  • They need to do that to the whole city. The whole place stinks of bum piss, what a shithole!

  • Wow... that is some length you went to making this video... BLOWING UP A STADIUM! I mean microwaving a battery is one thing!

(I'm joking btw): nice video *****

  • dude that explosion was sick

  • Couldn't it have been something better than a parking lot? Like a park or something?

  • maybe now it will fit in your microwave...

  • great video!! it was an explosion though lol

  • implode your microwave

  • microwave a lightbulb wrapped in tin foil

  • Cosmic... nice video, I can't wait for Microwave S4 it sounds sweet!

  • They should have microwaved it
