  • This movie did a horrible job of depicting Coach Rupp...All I got to say.

  • 1 of the 2 who disliked this is Pat Riley

  • few went to the nba

  • Oh and Kentucky fans, a nice warm 'your welcome' from UTEP for beating Memphis this year and preserving your stupid NCAA record :)

  • who cares guess who has 2000 wins UK2K

  • So what? Under Calipari, UK may win 70 more games and two NCCA titles. But if Calipari's methods hold true to form, UK may find itself having to relinquish all 70 wins, it's two titles, lots of money and a whole lot of UK Blue prestige. Then, UK fans will know how Memphis fans feel today.

  • who cares, guess who won a historic championship in 1966 UTEP

  • utep has 1 national title to polish

uk has 7 to polish and more on the way

    GO BIG BLUE,GO COACH CAL!!!!!!!!!

  • Coach Cal and his PREDOMINANTLY BLACK UK BASKETBALL TEAM. A far cry from "Rupp's Runts". Remember, Calipari's not-so-spotless resume. He has a knack of recruiting a specific type of athlete most likely to bring success on the court. It's the shady HOW of his methods which have lead to his former school having to vacate their entire '08 season, including their fantastic finish, having to return all monies earned and being on probation for 3 years. Calipari wins dirty. John Chaney knew it well.

  • @outrundaylite ...the time at UMASS the violation was one of he boosters gave 1000 dollars to a players dad, had nothing todo with the coach, and Im not saying he didnt know but there is a possibility that coach cal didnt know about the test

  • @andrea1994barney If you are going to start refuting all the NCAA Allegations against your beloved greasy slimeball coach Cal, you had better pack a lunch.

Sanctions and stripped away (removed) records have followed him everywhere he has gone.

  • yeah UTEP has 1 national title...... that meant the most in college sports history :)

  • Emily Deschanel is so beautiful here! She's beautiful anywhere anyway! Gotta love her!

  • @BrennanTemperance Who the fuck is Emily Deschanel ?

    LOL

  • dont touch me, im a miner

btw isnt that the chick from Bones

  • kentucky got nothin they suk more balls then a cow in t.g.y.fridays bitches

  • ????? they have nothing really please explain, 7 national titles is nothing, we can spell and i have never heard of tgy fridays maybe tgi

  • The cost to fly the UTEP Miner

    Basketball team to Maryland-$10,000

The cost to Feed and room the Miner team-$5,000

The cost to broadcast the 1966

    championship bastketball game on t.v.-$4,000,000

The look on Adolph Rupp's face when his "superior"

white players lose to the "inferior" black Miner team-PRICELESS!!!!!!

  • except Adolph Rupp wasn't racist, its called acting, but you can get pumped about what used to be and we will continue to be pumped about what has always been and what always will be Kentucky basketball

  • Rupp wasn't racist? That's extreme to say the least. Rupp was a man of his times. Racism exists today and was more rampant and accepted in Rupp's era and environment. You cannot say Rupp wasn't racist. It's very likely he was racist. Rupp was said to have shown a UK team a top 5 NCAA rankings list at that time. Every team was all white. It's said Rupp told that UK team with much regret, that the days of white athletic dominance in college basketball was near an end as the black athlete emerged.

  • kentucky sucks!!! utep baby!!!

  • i love this movie im gana subscribe to this dude

  • great movie, although, like most Biographical movies, 90% fiction. i have the game on dvd. no confederate flags, or anything like this! Rupp was all about winning!! black or white it didnt matter. he tried to recruit Unseld, etc.... etc......and no, i am not a KY fan!

  • actually rupp recruited the first black player in the history of kentucky so maybe he was before the game but he changed at least.

  • in the history of the SEC also

  • Thank you finally someone with a brain who understands movies exagerate

  • one of my favorite movies.... i remembered this movie today when i made a desperation shot to win at the buzzer.

  • Rupp did indeed try to recruit blacks. But they didn't not come because they didn't want to play in the south. After all, Chalrie Scott went to North Carolina a year after this and North Carolina is farther south that Kentucky. What stopped Rupp was the administration at KU. It's a fact, but they weren't the only school to do so at the time.

  • If one more person calls us KU, we aren't Kansas, We are The University of Kentucky which is UK.

  • @Buckethead66 I think you mean UK. University of Kentucky goes by UK, University of Kansas goes by KU.

ROCK CHALK! Seriously though, I love this movie. And I love that UTEP beat my Jayhawks that year because UTEP's title meant so much to the sport.

  • @Buckethead66 in 1964, Rupp recruited Wes Unseld, the best player in the state that year. But Unseld said he read stories about what Jackie Robinson went through and didn't want to face the same thing. He signed with Louisville. The following year, Rupp recruited Butch Beard, the best player in the state that year. He turned Rupp down for the same reason and also signed with Louisville.

  • My uncle played for Rupp.He was a piece of shit.Check your history facts ladies.

  • I don't think that Don Haskins drove around Texas going like, "I'm gonna look for some black players." I think he just wanted to look for some great PLAYERS. Like the ending of The Express *SPOILERS!!!* Floyd says, " I wanna do what you did Ernie- be the best black running back in football." Ernie said, " Look at this bottle. Is there a label?" "No." "Exactly. It could be anything. Jus like I didn't set out to be the best BLACK running back there is, just the best running back period." Watch it!

  • when I watch that I'm shiver

  • willie worsley works at my school. hes the basketball coach too

  • R.I.P. DON HASKINS

    1930 - 2008

  • If they told the whole story how it took Texas Western four years to win. All respect to coach haskins but he didn't do this in one year. All those starters were seniors. That is one thing that they took a little poetic liscense on. If your going to make it seem like the greatest upset of all time at least show the whole story.

  • Stop bitching you ass hole. UTEP RULES!!!

  • Still the only d-1 team in the state of Texas with a national championship

  • Does anyone know the name of this soundtrack?

  • bah im sorry, but Trevor rabin have made it, thats all i know =)

  • Willie Cager..(the guy that threw the ball off th backboard is my brother..Damaine Radcliff

  • ovguide . com

  • go 2 ovguide n type glory road n the search box n u can watch the whole movie online n in better quality also.

  • i luv this movie.

remember the titans was a very moving story but 2 sad. i luv glory road sooo much. plus josh lucas is sucha cutie....lol

  • this movie was so amazing, it was a piece of true cinematic genius

  • For those saying that there were no confederate battle banners in evidence in the stands, you're wrong. They were there and the Kentucky band did play "Dixie". Dunking was also allowed during that era. Pat Riley remembers David Lattin's first dunk on him and what Lattin said to him following the dunk. Fired up over the overt racism of the mostly-white crowd, Riley said that Lattin glared at him following the dunk and said, "Take that, honky!"

  • wowzer!

  • i love this movie its the bestmovie ive evr seen!!

  • it is the best ending ever

  • i wanna cry its soo cool. :)

  • I love this movie!

  • i think the best part is when the kentucky coach looks at the african american player in the face and then the flashs

  • anyone know the song in this part?

  • kentucky had all there players all their subsitutions all the support no threats

  • Sometimes, it's that very pressure that you mention that gives people the drive they need to come out on top.

Texas Western Don Haskins and his team wanted to prove to everyone that a black man can do everything a white man can, and sometimes even better. Without the pressure and all the walls, Texas Western wouldn't have been as successful as they were, nor would they have had such a strong drive to prove their worth. Kentucky thought they had it in the bag, but they jumped to conclusions.

  • heres a question kentucky was a good team louie damiper and pat reily but what happened here why did they lose to texas more pressure was on texas then ketucky they only had 7 players so only 2 substitutions so some of them played through out the whole game and look at all the events they had to go through the threats they got

  • well, kentucky lost. yeah!!!

  • great movie

.....i love when bobby joe steals it and crashes into rupp and they have that snapshot of them looking at each other..great choice by the director

  • LARRY!

  • this movie is complete hollywood....there were never rebel flags in the stadiums, there is no evidence Rupp was a racist (in fact his players state quite the opposite), the game was extremely close.....Jerry Bruckheimer lives about 5 miles down the rosd from me here in Bardstown, KY; and I wish he would have kept it more realistic...yes, it was an historic event no doubt, but as a die hard-lifelong Kentucky fan I wish they wouldn't have tried to demonize our coach & make our team look inadequate

  • Did your father know Rupp? Didn't think so.

  • best movie all time hands down

  • screw u this is the best movie ever

if u like bball theres no history without these guys

  • this movie and coach carter are the best movies

  • i agree 100%..and remember the titans

  • thanx man

yer i love that as well

  • yer thanx man

    remember the titans is awesome

  • It's not about the dunking, It's about how those people changed the game of basketball and made one of the most powerful statements in sports at the time!

  • I wansn't even talking about that. My point was the person that made this film made Western look like they dominated. The truth is it was a well fought close game (where no one dunked LOL). Yes they changed basketball and made a statement. But I was talking about something else.

BTW. Adolph Rupp won over 800 in a time where they played half the games they play in a season now. Otherwise he would probably still been the all time winningest coach.

  • but the movie is about how Texas Western did what they did. It isnt so much about the playing on the court as much as it is the overall message. You obviously dont understand what this team did and what they overcame to win a national title. The movie is about Texas Western, not about Kentucky. No one cares about Kentucky in the movie because its focused on TW.

Ya Rupp is probably one of the best coaches of all time, but it's because he was coaching the best basketball school in the country.

  • Um, you DO realize that Rupp made UK what it was? He built UK's foundation. Adolph Rupp is UK basketball.

I agree with your point. I was just critiqing this clip. Can I have an opinion? lol

  • he made us the best basketball school in the country

  • The game was well-fought but Texas Western took the lead and never trailed heavily-favored Kentucky for one second of the game. I'd say that was domination of a sort. And yes, there was dunking. Pat Riley himself recounts David Lattin's first dunk over him early in the game. That dunk let Riley know that Lattin and Texas Western were not intimidated by the white racist fans in the stands, the confederate flags or Kentucky. Riley quickly came to realize that Texas Western meant serious business.

  • Watch real footage of the game. There were absoultly no confederate flags. It's just one of many falsehoods in this movie

  • damn straight. Bill Russell, Chuck Cooper, KC Jones, Sam Jones, and others broke the color barrier at least 10 years before this. It's a remarkable NCAA championship and upset, but Adolph Rupp is given a far worse reputation in this movie than he actually deserves (since he is one of the greatest NCAA coaches of all time).

  • there were no confederate flags in the stands at the actual game, go watch real footage

  • There is historic and PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence of UK fans in the upper bleachers waving a confederate battle banner. Some historical revisionists have sought to soften Rupp's racial attitudes as well as that of most whites attending the game in person and indeed, throughout the nation. The truth is Rupp did hold racist views with regard to Black athletes and Basketball and it's clear today that whenever a sporting contest features black athletes vs whites, there is sharp racial polarization.

  • yes someone dunked david lattin dunked the the beginning of the game after pat riley dropped a free throw after being fould on the other end. and he also got fouled while dunking and made the free throw that's the only dunk i recall.

  • 1) This was a fluke. UK WAS the better team. That is why it is an UPSET.

    2) Whoever wrote this script was an idiot because dunking was not legal in 1966. Touching the rim was a no no and considered goaltending.

  • Uhhmm ok.

    MAke your own movie then.

    Tch....ur sucha hater brah.

  • Becuase everyone wants to see 10 people on a court just shooting...

    ex: WNBA

If you're going to pay attention to small things like that watch the real thing, I mean it IS a related vid on here its not that hard...

  • kapitalny film <3

  • when cager dunks that ball, rupp knows kentucky will lose, and that texas western is the better team

  • is this a true story?reply me

  • yes it is .. the team that changed the game forever .. after they won they started recruiting black players ..

  • Actually Adolph Rupp tired to recruit an African Amercain in 1964 two years before this game even happened. And Davidson making the sweet sixteen last year was more of an upset than this game. Texas Western had been playing together fot four years. Not just one as the movie suggest.

  • davidson more of an upset that this? not a chance you loser this was the greatest upset in ncaa basketball history

  • really thats why Texas Western was ranked second in the nation kentucky first, texas western had one loss all year. It would be like Duke beating NC.

  • ur a dumbass they said it was one of the greatest and everyone agrees but you. texas western went from no one to national champs beating the kings of college bball at that time kentucky

  • I simply stating the inaccruacy of the movie.... it shows that Don Haskins taking them from worst to first in a year that isn't true at all....... and it wasn't a basketball upset it was a social upset because the "unequal" black players beat the "supierior" white players....... it wasn't that big of upset.

  • back then it was an upset and all of the players agree that it was

  • I'm not saying it wasn't an upset..... I'm saying that it wasn't one of the greatest of all time.

  • at the time? try still, and it was an upset but how many of kentucky's star players were out, like 3. And texas played really well.

  • it was the greatest upset of all time!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes It is

  • yup its also my favorite true story and my favorite movie

  • yeah munning444 whoever u are you should shut the fuck up man where do u live? so I can come beat the shit out of you

  • amazing movie

    grea tmusic in it 2

  • go miners

  • lol this is the only comment with a good checkmark

  • that flag was thrown in black folks faces all the time. You are either traveling DE NILE or don't know history

  • Chill out, it's a fucking good movie. Knowone cares what you think you slut "MRSvengeance"

  • Ahahaha

  • thier every single shots isn't luck

    it'spure skill.

this movie rocks and it always will

  • im from kentucky... and that confederate flag stuff is complete BS... please dont let this movie make u think that we r racist. this movie is just gay, we didn't have confederate flags everywere. andw tf the guyplaying witha 102 temperature? BS. this movies blown out of proportion

  • back in the day dude back in the day is what this movie is supposed to take place in

  • i agree with Larry

  • watch the actual game footage there are no confederate flags......

  • wat the name of that song at the end. well not song tune.

  • go miners!!!!!!!!!

  • best basketball movie ever and i dont even like basketball but that was histry rite there

  • munning 444 your funking gay

  • rupp obviously is not the best coach..that racist bastard idk him but they sure did make it seem like he was..and those werent 7 niggers in the championship game..they were 7 black players that had heart and won because they earned it

  • Rupp wasn't a racist. He was actually the first SEC coach to try to recruit blacks (he tried very hard to get Wes Unseld in '64), but it was several years before anyone was willing to be the "pioneer." All Rupp cared about was winning basketball games. He would have signed someone from Mars if the Martian would have helped him win and he could get him eligible.

  • i see...

  • I bet he would even get Yao Ming in his prime. GO CATS!!!

  • Rupp tried to recurit black players but no one would go play in the south.... he tried to recurit before this game even took place.

  • Thats bullshit in Rupp's DREAMS. Lol (",)

  • you obviously know nothing about Rupp. He wanted to win and would do anything to wim. It didn't matter what skin color his players were. This movie is completly wrong in Rupp's view of black players.

  • this is not luck.

losing one game in the season is not luck, its pure skill.

  • this is the second best basketball movie i like coach carter but this is similar to remember the titans. It shouldnt matter teh color of ur skin basketball is just a game for the best talent

  • Man, I hate to say this, but Adolf Rupp took a tough one that time. But, and I think anyone would agree with me on this, Rupp was, and will always be, one of the best coaches to ever live. There'll never be another Rupp.

  • Munning444 rot in hell u bastard your family will never progress bastard.

  • they got lucky ...we won tha next year

  • they did'nt get lucky they had a bigger team and kentucky fauled too much, check the stats freetrows won the game

  • they may have been black but they were the better team so shut up taking the piss outtta blakc people they are just like you and me dick head

  • Munning 444 or w/e iz fuking gay

  • yah, and seems to be proud of it
