  • nobody on the current W.W.E. roster can cut a promo like Magnificent Don Muraco.... learn boys, please learn.

  • that over the top leap @ 2:57 was better than anything STING, JEFF HARDY, or REY MISTERIO could have done!

  • Thank goodness he didn't pull his shorts off.

  • " reverse the figure four head lock.....figure four leg...".....CLASSIC!!!

  • Vince has his censored x

  • @dontabaltimore1974 That damn red X used to give me the creeps 30 years ago... still does today! I know (now) it's just sensationalism, but dammit, I still get the creeps...

  • snuka's leap at 2;59 was sick

  • the reason they put the censored cause too much blood on tv was considerd too much then, and plus the tv people where not smarten up.

    RAS JON

  • NICE!

  • I remember this! Great action! Awesome!

  • love Snuka blading himself @3:41

  • @jlmack69 Not to be an asshole, but why do people always want to point out "blade jobs"?

  • Loved tje censored logo hahahahaa

  • Typical Sunka Pearl Harbor At least he got what he deserved.

  • Typical Sunka Pearl Harbor

  • "rassling" on sat morns was tight as shut back then, this Commercialized, overpriced garbage they have now couldn't touch the old school stuff!!!

  • I remember watching this live in about 1983 on a Saturday morn. This was the shut back then boy!!! Superfly rocks azz!!!

  • been nice if it were snuka and hogan in the cage instead of bundy

  • Why wasn't Snuka allowed to hold a title in the WWF? BTW, his daughter Tamina is HOT.

  • @azariah15 They didn't put a title on snuka because he had a big drug problem.

  • @jshkendra Thanks for telling me. I didn't know.

  • I loved watching these guys. Nice touches like the obviously fake doctor, added so much!

  • Snuka was a bigger draw than the World Champion at the time. It was Andre, then Snuka, and Backlund was (on a good day) the #3 face.

  • Good thing the doctor was there.

  • Vince said "hammering away" WAY too often during the 80s.

  • Did he say figure four headlock?? lol

  • Pvt. Kernodle during his brief "Jobber stint" in the WWF.

  • Muraco looks like he is on something.

  • snooka was all bloddied up.. thats whats censored... this used to play on saturday mornings.. awsome

  • I didn't know that the lame red "X" censored sign had first appeared in the WWF in the early 1980s...the first time I remember seeing it is when Outlaw Ron Bass cut up Brutus Beefcake with his spurs prior to Summerslam 88.

  • @Derby14 I remember that in the 70s, I think it was if it got bloody, but more importantly, it was to entice you to buy tickets when they came to your local armory or war memorial for a show.

  • @Derby14 First time I sa it was when Blackjack Mulligan put the claw on some poor jabroni. That X was so weak.

  • why censored? it's just Entertainment o_O

  • could you imagine calling someone a wetback on wrestling nowadays. no way. lol the good ole days..

  • I so remember this! Fantastic!

  • Ha Ha. Thats Frankie Williams trying to break it up !!!!

  • @oreldm and just a year later on pipers pit what happened to ole frankie'

  • Snuka's hands free plancha was ahead of it's time. That was SWEET!!!

  • this is when wwf/e used to be something worth watching, unlike what they have today!!

  • Oh this was not when Snuka got pile drive on the concrete? it looks like they just bladed a little.

  • I miss the outrageous language, the cutting and the five fingered death/face grip.

  • @DaveFromBrooklyn I miss the big red X

  • I was 13 and I remember when they aired this on TV. They said this was too violent too on regular TV.

  • Now this stuff is the shit......remember Cheif Jay Strongbow???

  • rofl, callin tito a wetback. just hilarious! i swear man, this was wrestling at its best. these guys were the greatest. just real characters and pure classic wrestling. this was our childhood man! we grew up on this shit and one thing i can say about that is that we were damn frikin lucky!!!!

  • He said WET BACK they need to get back to the RAUNCHIE talk like that

  • snuka want a naked muraco.

  • The WWE was upgrading its shows early in '83 before Hogan won the belt and it took off.

Wrestling was getting much more exciting and innovative each week.

They were still selling out arenas in 82-83 before Hogan ever showed up.

  • You're right. "Roger's Corner" being a perfect example. It was the pre-cursor to Piper's Pit and all the other similar segments with Brutus Beefcake, Adrian Adonis, Brother Love, etc.

  • GOD I miss this kind of wrestling

  • THAT CENSORED '' x '' sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the censored X these days when I watch this stuff, but yeah, back in the day it used to piss me . lol

  • Yeah this was when mcmahon was sick with it. I remember watching this very show. It was may 1982. I also remember snuka getting piledriven twice by crippler stevens, and the coconut crack with piper. Snuka was my favorite!!!!

  • or break a coconut over his head.

  • Anyone know the exact date of this event? My best guess is spring 1983.

  • I would think earlier because the legendary Snuka off the top of the cage onto Muraco was in 1982.

  • Oh WOW! Check out the 4:07 mark. The infamous CENSOR Red X! Does that bring it all back?? This is like 30 years ago - crazy. Where does the time all go :-(

  • why did he want to get him naked? when it was real?

  • This is back in the day when wrestling was real.

  • loser....wrestling was NEVER real

  • actually i beg to differ, i read a book on pro wrestling and it started in the late 19th century with the traveling carnival/circuses, the matches would sometimes go on for days, but it hasn't been real for a long time

  • its true most of them where gypsys

  • Really? Wrestling is fake??? Oh no! My life is over!

  • If pro wrestling WAS real, you still wouldn't watch it.

  • I remember watching this as a kid in my basement... I'd watch Sat. morning cartoons back when they were worth watching and then tune in for Championship Wrestling on Ch. 29 @ 11am and All Star Wrestling at 12noon on Ch. 17 here in Philly.

  • GREAT old school action!!!

  • It was so awesome to see Buddy Rogers on this. Muraco wasn't anything more than an I-C champ, even at this point in time.

  • That's so funny. You can totally see Snuka blading himself after Muraco hits him with the mic then put it back in his trunks. Classic! Plus the old giant red X. Man, I miss those days. As a kid this was as good as it got. Thanks for posting.

  • Lol..does sound just like Al Pacino!

  • "reverse the figure four headlock". Muraco was awesome.

  • ah the good ole red censored X

  • Snuka and Muraco had a Fijian strap match at the Spectrum in Philadelphia,PA, and it was one of the most bloodiest if not THE most bloodiest match I've ever seen. Muraco won because they collided with the referee and he was knocked out, and when he came too, he saw Snuka with the strap off, and whipping Muraco into a bloody mess. Whoever took the strap off lost, so since Snuka had the strap off his wrist, the referee awarded the victory to Muraco, who ended up being hog tied by the strap.

  • did he say wetback?

  • Yea he did, WWE didn't worry about statements like that back then.

  • tear him apart jimmy! no one spits at my idol.

  • Al Pacino was a wrestler?

  • This is my favorite feud of all time. It was because of this one event that I saw my very first card at Madison Square Garden for 2 of the matches in this feud. I saw the first grudge match on the MSG Network, but I did attend the classic cage match.

  • what kind of money did a top star make back then?

  • Andre made 1 million on 1975, but that was crazy money then. Most superstars (the best of the best) made 200-300k, guys like Muraco probably made 150-200k

  • forgot to add Muraco's clothing provided by the Bum's Rush, outfitting fine wrestlers for decades...lol

  • we've got allentown pa tapings, Buddy rogers, a private, frankie williams, a figure four headlock, wet backs, snuka flying over a top rope, blading, and a big red x...simply doesn't get any better..the new WWE should watch the old WWF to see how it's done.

  • Snuka was the WWf's whipping post.

  • Snuka was the TOP face in the company

So every mid-carder, looking to make a name, will take a shot

    Comes with being THE ONE

  • Snuka might have gotten cracked with a mic, but that's nothing compared to getting stripped butt-naked on national t.v. ha ha ha!!!!!!! Classic

  • at 3;42 3;43 you see snuka cut himself than put the razor in his tights

  • no, snuka slashed himself. muraco was tremendous, but no one was better at creating and selling the best grudge matches than snuka. a true legend.this was a man who enjoyed pain, blood ( 1 of the 1st to actually use a razor to cut himself for fanfare) and relished in it, no doubt, 1 of the greatest.

  • Snuka's balls came out!

  • YES!!!! The censored X :D

  • sounds like piper

  • Sick leap from Snuka. That was a rarity back in the day to see an over the top leap

  • I've seen a few posts of Don Kernodle as being Snuka's opponent for that match. The work was that he and Sgt. Slaughter came to the WWE after losing the NWA belts to Steamboat & Youngblood. The work was that Slaughter was punishing Don by telling the promoters to keep him at the bottom. And Kernodle stated that he would take his punishment like a good private would. Unlike Jim Nelson.

  • @mkl62 Well Nelson became a successful Russian....somewhat.

  • @yardlet6 Jim Nelson became Boris Zuhkov. He and Soldat Ustinov held the AWA World Tag Team Title. Soldat wrestled in WWE as Johnny K-9, a journeyman. In his book, Arn Anderson said that Nelson was a slob outside the ring, also along with Pat Rose.

  • @mkl62 K-9 also became Bruiser Bedlam in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. He was part of a gang in Hamilton,Ontario and he was tried for murder.

  • lmao @ wetback

  • I remember this being one of the hottest feuds of the early 1980's i was a young lad but i remember the Apter Mags describing this feud they wrestled eachother for some time Jimmy Snuka was the man and Don Muraco was gritty tough.

  • Snuka never did get the belt from him, did he?

  • Snuka, even at his peak, was a glorified jobber.

  • Even at your peak, you couldn't say anything more ridiculous.

  • No. Snuka never held a title in WWE.

  • lol that wetback tito santana...

jesse went with the more politically corect chico santana...

  • Anybody have the unedited version of this?

  • Great feud, thanks for posting.

  • those were the good ole days

  • DAMN! Snuka's got some grip ripping clothes off that easily.

  • That's what you call 'going for it'!!!

  • I remember seeing him wrestle Snuka in a strap match at the Spectrum in Philly in 82. On the way to the ring he shot snot rockets at the ringside fans. He was soaked with beer, spit and soda coming and going to the ring. Muraco hooked the tights and won but Jimmy hog-tied him and splashed him pretty damn good.

  • Classic shit.

  • Dun Muraco...the ORIGINAL Rock

  • Muraco was an awesome heel.

  • aahh muraco used the W word

  • Snuka was in town for a match years ago and he got arrested for beating his gir at the hotel they were staying. The newpaper said it took like 10 cops to control him. He was was throwing the cops around! Hahaha!!

  • Sounds like Ken Patera and Mr. Saito in Waukesha, Wisconsin some years back.

  • Where the hell Muraco bought them cheap ass clothes???

  • hahaha "I hear this wetback" how awesome! I remember Bobby Heenan calling Santana "the flying burrito" aahahhahaha classic. And Hacksaw Butch Reed in the segments saying "chico Santana" that cracked me up everytime. Lighten up peeps my parents are from "mejico"

  • i like wrestling still but its nowhere near what it was years ago lol beach bum muraco gotta love it

  • Muraco was GREAT heel. And there's Frankie Williams!

  • thanks to these great wrestlers for paving the way .....there was such great stuff back then...I miss those days..

  • muraco could do it all, wrestle and talk, muraco reminded me of a gorilla, big and strong.

    figure 4 headlock ???

censored blocking the screen added to it.

  • Great.....I miss that big red X on the screen....

  • man i was like 10 at the time this was being filmed and snuka was my favorite,he was in all sorts of feuds with other wrestlers pus he had the superfly leap which was the most impressive finishing move back the and is stuillbeing imitated now .

  • Sounds like Roddy Piper... they were good friends and Piper helped Muraco with his promos. The backstage clique in the 80's was Piper, Orton, Muraco, Bret Hart, etc.

  • 3:43 Snuka gets the blade from his trunks and blades himself...good times...

  • snuka was ripped at this point of his career

  • some people may not know "blades" is a term when a wrestler cuts himself for the "performance" you can clearly see snuka trying and getting an object to cut his forehead to make it appear as if the microphone cut him.great video though, thanks

  • snuka blades at 3:44

  • What is the date of this event?

  • I'm looking for other red X footage like the Ron Bass spur attack on Brutus Beefcake from 1988...

  • Don was a great heel and a terrific Intercontinental Champion in the early 80s. The WWF should have taken better care of him; they didn't push him properly later on in the decade.

  • I first heard on Don when he was in the nwa. Humperdink used to manage him. There was a sneak footage of Don practicing to get out of a Boston Crab fininishing move. He was preparing for his jump to WWF and Pedro Morales. It was for several seconds. The person with the camera was chased out. Gordon Solie hosted.

  • I remember that video. Muraco was practicing the spike piledriver if I remember correctly.

  • Yes, that move too. Spike piledriver using a training equipment for that move. It had a blue color?

  • Snuka deserved it, coming to the ring while the champ was dropping knowledge.

  • Muraco was insane on the mic. This is his best rant ever!

  • you better believe it!!!!!!!

  • If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Snuka was suppose to win the Intercontinental title instead of Tito Santana. However, this was entertaining minus the "ugly" red censored x.

  • Thus beginning one of the greatest, bloodiest feuds of all time. Gotta love Snuka's dive over the top rope.

  • Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was the man!

  • This is one of the WWF mileposts (involving Snuka)of the early 80's.The first is Snuka taking the piledrivers from Ray Stevens. The 2nd is this incident and the 3rd is the Piper coconut incident!

These 3 incidents paved the way for what was to come in the late 80's.

  • Yeah, back then blood was a bad thing for broadcast TV. Thank god for ECW!

  • hey does this remind you of a certain feud where of the guys got his clothes ripped off? can you say flair-steamboat?

  • Muraco was so cool, he never wore the belt around the waist, he was the first to always carry it over his shoulder

  • did anyone notice snuka blade himself whe he got hit with the mic? i always hated that damn red censored "x" back then. they did the same thing when blackjack clawed some poor slob to a bloody mess.

  • Could Buddy Rogers be any more stiff?

  • He call Tito a wet back!! Lol

  • I used to HATE the green Intercontinental belt, now I think it looks pretty bad ass.

  • Snuka got MAD HOPS!!!!

  • you couldnt show blood but you could say wetback...hahahaha

  • EXACTLY! That was hilarious! Gotta love the 80s!!!

  • muraco lookin like artie lang

  • This was the glory days of wrestling, before everything went commercial and choreographed. Snuka was one of the greatest wrestlers. The Muraco and Snuka fued was one of the best ever.

  • Am I crazy, or does Muraco sound like Al Pacino?

Thanks for the post, I remember seeing this as a kid on WOR channel 9 New York.

  • Yes, he sounds like Al Pacino. Scarface lol

  • snuka is very number one!! Is a legend

  • WOW, i actually remember this,at like 6yrs.ol' watchin it on a magnovox 24" solid oak tv wit like 5 channels,b4 we got cable.

  • I remember this. Muraco was one of my favorite wrestlers and Snuka-Muraco is a classic feud. They never showed the blood from the blade jobs on free tv back then. They've come a long way.

  • sounds like roddy piper!! wow!

  • Oh man! Taped at Agricultural Hall in Allentown PA! My friends used to go & tell me the outcomes of the matches 3 weeks before it was on TV! I miss this stuff.

  • Ahhhhh! Pro Wrestling the way it's suppose to be. I miss th ol days.

  • I also remember a big red X when Jake The Snake pulled Rick Rude tights off with Cheryl Roberts face on him.

  • "i heat this wetback come out here...tito santana" lol! this must've been during the archie bunker days in the world!

  • Geez...Snuka was an outstanding wrestler and very underrated bleeder. He'd bleed if you hit him over the head with a pillow. He's kinda obvious doing it too...

  • The guy walking by the ring at the start of the segment was Don Kernodle who worked WWF prelims although he had a big push in Mid Atlantic. Also, the follow up was Snuka going nuts and throwing chairs around.

  • 1cpw. I remember watching that scene on tv when Snuka was throwing the chairs all over the place. If it's the same one it has Vince interviewing him yelling Jimmy! Jimmy! when he was going psycho. What year was that? That clip is classic. Can someone post it? Thanks!

  • That X is fucking lame...Snuka seems fond of blading himself...

  • Part of his act.

  • I remember seeing this back in 83'. The other RED X was when Ron Bass ran those spurs across Brutus Beefcakes forehead

  • great stuff... the only other time I saw the BIG RED X was when Black Jack Mulligan had the claw on some jobber and blood was coming out of his nose and forehead and then the RED X came on...lol

  • what's up with the big red X?

  • Ah, the less-pc days when wrestlers used the term wetback.

  • The original 'Rock' Don Muraco! figure four 'HEAD' LOCK!
