  • This is the first review I've ever actually liked from this dude.

  • Do you have a band of your own, Anthony? Have you ever made any music?

  • i think there songs being short its generally part of there original style

  • Heard these guys first off of Rough Trade Counter Culture and have been in love ever since

  • totally gonna listen to this and songs of shame again. thx TND

  • I want this album ! Seems so good.

  • my new favriote band love them

  • dare I say, freak folk?

  • @rewindDUDE No.

Freak Folk is a bullshit genre

  • @LouReedsBooks amen to that

  • good all round album. still seems as though the band is working out their sound, and is why i like them. each song on echo lake was suprising. solid review as well

  • people are saying that it has too similar of a sound as the previous album, but i like how it does because the previous album made me want more

  • Anyone remember David Surkamp from Pavlov's Dog? Now that was falsetto-

  • The Woods track, Blood dries darker, was the first track played on a two week stint here in Australia by Lou Reed and Hal Wilner on our Radio National. My son, 21, said immediately that it was reminiscent of Velvet Underground style! I just liked it. And good for the band being given this type of publicity here.

  • youre looking at me, like you think that you know what youre talking about. Ever read a newspaper?

  • hey nice review,

not a big fan so much of what i heard from this album but i def love songs of shame

they remind me of the fleet foxes

  • @dbender08 I like this one SO MUCH BETTER than Songs of Shame.

  • Good review, great fucking album. I'd give it a 9/10 or so.

  • i like it

  • Yeah, this album rules.

    ^^

  • @CarycaKatarzynaIV For the most part, yeah. :-)

  • Honestly.. 7/10. The album is good but it shares too much of the last album's feel, and doesn't have enough highs for me to really dig. Lots of the same old same old I feel like throughout this album but I gotta spin it a few more times.

  • This album is awesome! I like it better than songs of shame. I do agree that the songs are short but it keeps me coming back for more. I think at echo lake is one of the top releases this year

  • Yeah. I hoped for a more upbeat release and here I go. Gosh, 2010 is so freakin good.

  • Thanks Anthony, just found me a new band to listen to :)

  • I got this album out of random.

I saw the praise for Songs of Shame (which I still haven't heard) and got this.

To put it bluntly, I'm loving it. It's a contender for AOTY for me, and I'm not even a big folk fan.

  • I need to buy this record.

  • I JUST HEARD A SONG xD

  • @finalmattasy If I could have it my way, I'm gonna be doing vids on my death bed.

  • i've never heard of most of the bands that are reviewed...but i like mostly them! what makes music creepy? creepy is a very subjective word. i think creepy lyrics make a song creepy. also one part in iron maiden's "rhyme of the ancient mariner" gives me goosebumps it's so creepy. you'll know what i'm talking about when you hear it. i remember playing stravinsky's "berceuse and finale" in orchestra, and some parts of that can go right into a horror movie! i think in general quiet and minor=creepy.

  • I enjoyed this album a lot. Gets regular plays from me.

  • Hey Anthony! I'd love for you to review Thee Oh Sees latest album 'Warm Slime'. Their sound is most often described as being a sort of greasy, freaky, psychedelic, garage rock sound. The band is spearheaded by John Dwyer, formerly of Coachwhips and Pink and Brown. I look forward to all of the band's releases and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Either way, thanks for all the reviews and keep up the great work!

  • @devo83 I've actually got that album. I've been giving it some listens and need to talk about it. I'm digging it more than Dog Poison and the album that was out before that. But I'm not thinking it's better than Master Bedroom.

  • Sounds like a solid release. Would be a good song(s) to sit back and listen next to a summer fire.

  • @andy92811 Hellz yeah!

  • @joeyrmn4 Will do! Forever!

  • @theneedledrop Do you only review new things? :-)

  • Yeah, no thanks, those linked songs werent awesome. Ill look up some of the other tracks. I liked Pick Up 8/10. But thanks for the heads up on the band. Ill check out some older albums of theirs to see if i like them. keep it up, forever.

  • Awesome review again, I actually enjoyed that song that you released on the website, "I was gone"

  • i like how vague band names are getting.

  • You crazy for this one Anthony! Love me some Woods, gotta pick this up, I'm digging Suffering Season a lot.

  • Took a listen to it. Pretty good album. And nice view for folk/psychadelia and nice guitar playing man :)

  • I like Woods' music, especially their new album. It sounds like something you would hear back in the sixties from Tangerine Dream or maybe Moody Blues. I actually like the way the songs are shortened-it gives the album a more mysterious feel. Thanks for the review Anthony!
