The LP this song is from "Pressure Cookin'" will be released on the 18th. Even while I have converted my LP to mp3 I am looking forward to it's arrival. I think Pressure Cookin' and Chameleon are Labelle's most accomplished albums.
I loved Labelle's sound--no they weren't crystal clear soprano nymphs but to me they were exciting because of their sheer vocal firepower. It's a matter of taste really. I hate 70's heavy metal guitar--hated that crap--but i loved the 90's grunge guitar sound. Why? Who knows. I love Bruce Springsteen's voice but a lot of people hate it. I was huge Smiths fan but never thought Morrissey was much of a singer. It's all personal taste
It's about just being yourself. Being free and stop putting on pretentions. The person is never living up to their expectations and they just want them to just be themselves and "be seen in the light"
One of the many highlights from their 3rd LP " PRESSURE COOKIN' " in 1973. This was how great music was then. PRESSURE COOKIN' has got to be released on CD y'all.
If you dont like somehtin, why deliberately go lookin to expose yourself to it? That's assbackwards but everyone is entitled to their opinion so I shall leave it at that...
Duh, did you ever stop to think that maybe I wanted to expose myself to more of Patti Labelle's music to see if there is some of it that I do like? I don't like most of what Cher records either, but I have liked some of it.
I never understood it either, because obviously Diana had/has a huge fan base. Why? Because of her singing voice. But just as many only thought it sounded like Minnie Mouse on helium, screechy, shrill and jarring.
feeling goood....this songs makes you forget about all of your problems and cares. so refreshing like a cool glass of lemonade on a summer day in Georgia
This song along with all of Pressure Cooking was engineered superbly. The music just seems to float, the voices are so crisp. Back in the day I used to have a KLH turntable and speakers - used to blow this song out!
i was at a bar on night talking with a friend about labelle and he talk specifically about this song...and thank you for putting it up here. this is my first time hearing it and i see what he was talking about. i had the pleasure of running into Nona Hendryx while working as a host at a restaurant in NYC. i didn't mean to, but i shouted her out and gave her love and she gave it back to me right there out in the sidewalk cafe. Vicki Wickham was right behind her and she did the same.
Ok I LOVE THIS SONG! How did you get this? Did you convert this over from the record or something? Because to my knowledge this album isn't on CD like Phoenix and I think Moon Shadow.

@ohd00bley I agree completely about those two records being their best work overall. All the albums had great moments, though.

@ohd00bley I fully agree.

feeling feeling, feeling good
Can't make you understand, how you wish that I would--your brand of short love affairs calls for much more than I have
let me see you in the light
don't be afraid it's alright
Your eyes have built a wall much too low too high to vault
No foreign protocol makes me willing to be caught
Let me see you in the light
don't be afraid it's alright

LOL, wow, u r delusional as hell...Labelle will NEVA sound like nails on a chalkboard...Can't wait 4 the ORIGINAL Supremes to reunite (SMILE)...
TheOrderOfLight 3 years ago
I'm not delusional, I just don't like it. I'm sure there are many that said the same about Diana Ross even when she could sing.

I think one of my favorite LaBelle songs period. No one wrote or sang like that then or now.
