  • How the hell is this age restricted? Seriously haha. Wtf! BTW Minnesota is very nice right now...even warmer than florida bwahaha

  • minnesotan of norwegian decent for life baby!

  • im 25 percent Norwegian!!!!

The rest is 25 percent of the following

    Irish, german and Mexican

    lol

  • I was born in Minnesota and 'though I have lived most of my life out of the state, I WILL always be a MINNESOTA GOGHER !!!

  • lol im from jordan minnesota the german town! :D

  • @MissJay1023 my cousin lives in jordan, do you know paige moran or stina moran ? lollololol

  • @adlereagle123 hm they dont sound familiar i also moved away from there about a yr and a half ago im in alaska now

  • @MissJay1023 haha alaska? wow even colder lol , i always wanted to visit alaska haha :P

  • @adlereagle123 lol yep alaska truthfully its A LOT better then minnesota (i will always love mn tho) i say that cause the people are a lot nicer and the schools are better :D

  • Minnesotan of Norwegian descent...represent!

  • Cool to see that "uff da" is still being used by you Americans. As a Norwegian, it's fun to see :)

  • @sjureman It is! I just wish we would let go of the Christmas tradition of Lutefisk! I love Rømmegrøt, Krumkake, Rosettes, Fattigman and my town has a Lefse bakery, so we all grew up on "Carl's Lefse" (search it and you'll see the town - and it's connection to the Hjemkomst! watch?v=StrQ1vEENms

  • @HHS76 Cool. I hate to say it, but rømmegrøt, krumkaker, rosetter, fattigmann etc has all disappered in Norway. We simply don't eat it anymore. Lefse is eaten with sylte and mustard, but everything else is just gone.

  • Thats me at 2:04!

  • I was born, raised and still live in Minnesota and I am proud of it

  • Hahahaha! Does anybody know what the clip with the whale at 1:32 is from?

  • If you want to see nature at its grandest, blow through Duluth and head straight up 61 along the north shore of Lake Superior all the way up to Canada. Some of the finest driving you will ever do and some of the nicest little towns on earth with some darn good chow and quality people too. Fantastic hiking opportunities. The Boundary Waters ain't too shabby either.

  • Lol, I love the way you pronounce uff da.

  • It's hot dish, know as casserole in other parts of the country, not hot fish. I know the guy who wrote the song.

  • Why does he hate south and north dakota? lmao

  • So Mr. Holdren, if you're out there somewhere in cold MN, would you consent to allowing your work to be done in a movie at some point? Please contact me at dancewithgod7@aol.com if you're interested. Uff da, Patty

  • Uff da is often used in the Upper Midwest as a term for sensory overload. It can be used as an expression of surprise, astonishment, exhaustion, relief and sometimes dismay. For many, Uff da is an all-purpose expression with a variety of nuances, and covering a variety of situations.

  • Roy Holdren made the SONG

  • Roy Holdren made the video

  • by far the best state. say shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I ***LOVE*** this!!!!!

  • lol the girl with the corvette looked like a porn photoshoot

  • I've lived in minnesota my whole life and never once said "uff da"

  • @snomobiler228 WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Well, that's okay then. It pops out of my mouth every so often, all by itself. 'Course, I grew up with a VERY Minnesotan Norskie-Germanic Daddy who says it all the time.... :)

  • @snomobiler228 are you from the city?

  • I never understood why ppl have such a problem with minnesotan accent. I think East- European accents spoken in Chicago as well as Italian New York accent.is ten times more irritating

  • ahahh-great video! type, "woodbury martial arts" into your YouTube browser for an equally entertaining, but shorter video!

  • I have been there at :21, love minnesota though

  • I was visiting San Diego with some friends a few years ago. The cashier at the grocery store asked if we were from Minnesota. I asked if we had an accent or something. He said no, you're just so nice. I thought that was pretty cool.

  • Home sweet home. Its just too bad the rest of the country's population are idiots who think its the fucking arctic here all the time. Only from November until late March possibly early April, then its called Spring and SUMMER. Beaches, Bikinis, sunburns and everything that goes with it.

  • YEAH MINNESOTA!! I love this state!!!!

ps check out my blizzard vid i did on the big snow storm we got up here!

  • If any one lives in minnesota.....

THERE IS SOOOOO MUCH SNOWWWW!! RIGHT NOW!

  • @thisismyname1920

    I know! It's awesome!! XD

  • I sure do love cheese curds . . .

  • Yup.

  • Uff da! Is all about your feeling at that moment! Uff da, I just finished shoveling the driveway!

  • Yes, as IrishLincoln explained earlier, "Uff-da" is an all purpose

exclamation. I once said it during a bridge tournament in Los

Angeles. The guy next to me asked, "Are you from Minnesota?"

Moved from Minnesota to California over 40 years ago. I'll tell

    you the difference.

The weather in California is a whole lot better.

In Minnesota, the people are a whole lot nicer.

  • @rockgor

I agree on both counts! I moved from MN to Seattle 20 years ago and we have a lot of Minnesotans and Californians - the mixing bowl!

  • @HHS76 moved from MN to AZ and nobody here says I have an accent.

  • @rockgor U.F.F= BRITISH DEATH SQUADS IN THE NORTH OF IRELAND

  • @rockgor i know what you mean. in cali some ones tire pops no one will help em push it outa road. in minnesota every one who passes will stop and help XD

  • @karveshulade

I've been an exchange student in Minnesota aswell, I'm from Holland by the way.

You will be amazed by the state and it's wonderfull people.

I have been all around the world, but nothing beats MN for me. Just a fantastic state!

  • WHAT THE HELL DOES UFF DA MEAN? lol

  • @bstearman18

You have to be from Minnesota to know that. sorry

  • @bstearman18

Depending on how you say it... If someone tells a story about locking them self out of a car, you can give a knowing "Uff Da" and shake your head.

It can be a lite version of "OH S&%T!"

Or it can be exclamation of resignation - that you are faced with a situation that you just need to accept...

    It's very versatile!

  • @HHS76 ..U.F.F= BRITISH DEATH SQUADS IN THE NORTH OF IRELAND FUNDED BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT..

  • @HHS76 I agree....Uff Da is a Minnesota way of saying something like Oh No or polite way of saying Oh S%#t!!

  • @HHS76 lol thanks

  • @bstearman18 It means like "oh man" or "that sucks but ok"

  • It's a pretty general exclamation.

    Examples:

When you've just eaten too much lefse: Uffda!

When you've heard that your neighbor crashed his car: Uffda!

When you've overcooked your lutefisk: Uffda!

When you've got to shovel ten inches of snow out of your driveway: Uffda!

When you've been icefishing for 12 hours and still haven't seen one bite: Uffda!

When you've forgotten to plug your car's block heater in and your car won't start: UFFDA!

    Hope this helped! :)

  • @PyroPete91 lol loved your examples! Thank you :)

  • @bstearman18

I say Uff Da when im really full

  • Been here for decades. Still the same ole state it was when I moved here....

  • Minnesota... America's first communist state.

  • I was raised in Minnesota until I was 8 years old. then we moved back to New York. T_T I want to go back to Minnesota.

  • ive lived in MN my whole life and im Norwegian,we say uff da sometimes but not with a super heavy accent.Minnesotans dont have that heavy of an accent....but if you talk to some of the people who live up in the northern parts of the state they can have quite an accent! :)

  • BUNK, the dudes accent is false.. I was born n raised in minnesota...n im still there

..............I wanna punch the wanker singer the song

  • @KeithRichardHorton In response to your comment that his accent is false, and it was elaborated on purpose. I know the man who wrote this song and the band who played it. It's an older song and been around for quite a while. The band is still together after almost 15 yrs now, and play every Monday night at a place in down town Minneapolis. I know this because I know each of them personally. Enjoy it as it is, "a PARODY"

  • @bubbaducks

Cool! Please send me the info on the writer & performer so I can give them credit!

    Cheers!

  • I didn't know "uff da" was a Minnesotan thing! Now I feel kinda lame! Uff da! DX

  • @Sopresaful It's originally from Norway. Just sayin

  • Uff Da from Minnesota 8D

  • Im gonna be an exchange student in Minnasota, and Im from Norway. And I who wanted to go to the states to get away from everything that was a part of my everyday life in norway. Iiiiirony. I laughed at this song tho. Uff da ...

  • @karveshulade

It depends on what part of the state you will be in!

There will be plenty of mutations! *L* The Norwegian language that I grew up hearing from elders was spoken in the 1800's - a bit outdated!

  • @HHS76

    Goodie goodie.

I'll be moving to Fairmont (pretty south) and go to school in Truman : / ring a bell?

  • @karveshulade

I hope you have a good time in Minnesota, I am from the southwestern part of the state, but I am living in Oslo now. I think you will be amazed of how many Norwegian related things you will see in Minnesota. My hometown in MN celebrates 17 Mai and still have the traditional norwegian christmas. Don't worry, if you look hard enough, you can find brunost! :) <3 Klemmer

  • @karveshulade hey guess what it snows here to lol.

  • @karveshulade Where are you staying at? We just had so relatives from Norway come visit us! It was really cool to talk with them and share our differences.

  • I love how when you go to a different state, like Virginia, it snows an inch or two, and the roads are closed and no one wants to drive. And if its in the high 50s or low 60s, people are in full winter gear.

  • @shadowblade145 Just like here in Missouri!! lol

  • Yeah, the women in Minnesota are hot...

  • Are the women hot I Minnesota I mean on a scale of 1 to 10 what do they rate 10 being the best ???

  • i say oofta alllllllllll the time!!!! lol like at least 3-10 times a day or more lol..... my boyfriend makes fun of my and points it out EVERY time i say it

  • winter, summer, fall, I sure love my Minnesota

  • Uff da Minnesooooooooota!!!!! We love it up there - a great place to escape our Missouri summer's!! But, what does "uff da" mean??? Anyone?? Thanks, Mark, for the great share!!!

  • @dlpine71 I did get this honey ... hadn't been on for awhile !

Sure wish we were sitting on the North Shore right now !!

    Minnesoooooooooooooooooota !!

  • @dlpine71

Uff Da really has no translation, but it comes from Norwegian and Swedish meaning "darn", "damn", "shoot", "wow!", "crap", "hold s**t", etc. It depends on the the context and how it is stressed.

  • @IrishLincoln Yah .. you betcha!! And, thanks!!

  • Wait...uff da isn't common??

  • MN IS THE SHIT!! Born && RAISED

  • its good that its soooooooo bleak and snowy cold in minnesnowtra it keeps minnesotans in da house where they belong!!!!!!!!

  • This is why we make fun of Minnesotans. You stupid Gophers!!!!

  • Aaaah I'm moving to the cities from london. So excited. :]

  • @lellibells Welcome To Hell

  • @Mcdude32 You're kidding? Iloveit. Haha.

  • ha ha minnesota a hyperborean place cold cold cold always even in the summer.

why is it that minnesota girls always seem so sexless I mean they can't make 'heat'

  • @atfatw no sometimes it gets to 90's in summer

  • @atfatw have u been to minnesota it has plenty of hot chicks and that is moe like north and south dakota

  • @coltmanx13

are you serious?! minnesota girls are plain and SEXLESS they don't even make 'heat'!

enjoyment of passion in sex is considered sinful even in marriage. but what can you expect from a state were the majority of 'christians' are seventh day adventists

  • @atfatw ya sure have u been to minnesota there is PLENTY of hot chicks wat state do u live in

  • @atfatw

Well, at least we can create a legible sentence.

  • @ThorlikeSmash

be sure to take your throzine minnesotan!

  • Another great song from Roy Holdren check out his web site!!! If you like this song you will love "If your going to play in Fargo you gotta have a shovel in the Van"

  • It's a norwegian phrase and the U is pronounced like the double O in football

  • best state in the union

  • jejeje

  • Who Wrote this?...I need to know

  • minnesota is the bomb

  • Hell yea, I lived in Minnesota my whole life, 29 years. Minnesota has basically everything besides oceans but we have huge lakes though. Summer fishing, ice fishing, deer hunting, billiards, BBQ's, cliff jumping (hehe), skiing, snowboarding, speed boat races, camping, etc etc etc etc etc hell, the list goes on and on. All that is usually within a 15 mile area, too.

  • I was an exchange student there from Australia-LOVED IT!!! xxx

  • i love MINNESOTA IS REALY PRETTY

    iv been here a while

  • Life long Minnesotan here, well, up until my student exchange to Hawai'i until May. Can you believe people here wear a hoodie and a jacket in 70 degree weather? I've seen them shiver when the temp was in the high 60s.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    LMAO

    Pansies!

  • @ThorlikeSmash when i was in basic training in georgia people would complain about 40s being absolutely freezing lol

  • @ThorlikeSmash

I lived in Minnesota briefly when I was little, and havent been back in 12 years. Now I'm in Texas, and wear hoodies sometimes in EIGHTY degree weather. It's intense down here

  • @ThorlikeSmash 70 degree weather and they wear a jacket? 60 degrees is t shirt weather.

  • @petrakryo

    Yup.

  • BRAVISIMO.

  • you do know at the beginning he says "hot dish", not "hot fish"

  • @wildforMN Nope, he definitely says "Hot Fish". We got (at least here in Winona) The Hot Fish Shop--GREAT place to eat!

  • Bravo!!!!!

  • LOL, this video made me laugh. I'm in Texas now but I grew up in Blaine.

  • minnesota drivers suck exspecially in St.could... and everyone is related to everyone here.!!!!

  • I like it hear in MN, but the drivers suck here. Why do people brake for the curves in the freeway? Whe does everyone wait for the last possible second to cut 4 lanes of traffic to hit the exit ramps? Why do so many run red lights? Worst drivers ever. Other than that, not a bad place.

  • i am a good driver thank you...i haven't seen anyone drive like that here...

  • You must not come into the Twin Cities very often. Make Chicago drivers look good. According to a buddy of mine that used to drive over the road trucks, the Twin Cities area often avoided if possible because of the bad drivers.

  • nope i live 2 hours from the cities...but ive driven there...have you been to iowa? now those are some BAD drivers.

  • Actually I moved here from the Quad Cities. It's on the IL IA border. I thought IA drivers where bad. Till I moved here. Twin Cities takes the cake for crap driving. I've been all over the country, to most of the lower 48 at least, and I've never seen drivers like the ones here. The best one was on the far north end of 35W. N bound traffic was moving at 20mph. After doign this for about 20 min all of the sudden we started going 65-70 again. No idea why we slowed down.

  • well im a good driver...and i when i got to iowa they never cease to amaze me with their horrible driving skills.

  • i know they slow down when getting on the freeway too.they suck

  • @cbremer83

ha yeah i was just talkin about this yesterday, it just seems like everyone drives like their a bunch of fuckin tourists who've nvr seen some fuckin snow before, if ya cant drive here, u dont belong here, but ur more than welcome to stay for a while, hehe.

  • @wrangler409 Yes it is hot dish

  • actually it's UF DAH not OOF DAH.

WHICH IS SLANG FOR WHAT MUST BE A SCANDY WORD UF-DAH-FEE-DAH-MEHN.

I heard it all the time when i was about 7 years old. The old folks still spoke in native tongue.

It's really sad that now I have to take some stupid class to re learn Norsk.

    OK end of RANT.

  • Do people know what uff da means? I've heard that people from Minnesota use it in every situation:P

  • @esbyern well, i live in MN, and i've never heard anyone here say that lol:P i dont even know what it means! xD

  • Okay xD Maybe i have heard wrong:P Maybe it is another state or something;D

  • haha maybe it's us! xD idk! lol i probably wouldn't think we say that, since I don't even think us Minnesotans have an accent! xD lol I'd LOVE to here someone say "uff da" in real lifE:)

  • @archuletalover5 my grandma says uff da all the time :)

  • haha really?? that's awesome!! :)

  • I grew up in Iowa (near ther MN border) and heard 'uff-da) everyday (along with some other colorful words)!

  • wow that's cool! :D haha i'd love to hear someone say that haha! i live closer to the cities, so i don't know if people say it less or something... :)

  • anyone know who sings this?

  • I'm from Norway and I gotta say, I'm starting to really love minnesota! Looks like home, kinda. I feel like I should visit it sometime.

  • You should visit Minnesota sometime. Almost everyone in Minnesota has Scandinavian heritage. We sure have a lot of Lutefisk and Lefse here waiting for you.

  • Haha, yeah sounds great. I don't really like lutefisk, but lefse is fucking win. Do you think anyone in Minnesota have ever had smalahove? or Raspeballer?

  • Comment removed

  • western minnesota best place in the ENTIRE world represent<3. aint nothin better.

  • There's nothing like a -27 F degree sunny day in northern Minnesota. I remember blowing frost rings at night when I was a teen ager growing up in Northern MN. Air so still it looked just like a smoke ring.

  • we were -27 to -32 the last 2 or 3 days and are suposed to be subzero for the rest of the week 1-4-10
