skinny puppy is so unique there are hardly any bands that compare to them from this time period its so dark and so artistic, this brings music to an enitely differnt level one of the best bands that ever existed
I wish this video mix were available on CD. "Stairs and Flowers (Def Wish Mix)" isn't quite the same... I prefer the tighter, shortened mix of this video more. It's one of my absolute favorite Skinny Puppy songs. Plus, the amazing part at 2:48 in this video (right after, "What happened?" "What do you mean, 'what happened'? I just slipped down these damn stairs!") isn't in that mix. It is in the album mix. It's such a shame this version of the song isn't available elsewhere, outside of the video.
The "Chainsaw"/"Stairs and Flowers" single only has the "Def Wish" and "Too Far Gone" mixes, neither of which are the same as this video mix. Again: "Def Wish" mix is very similar, but it's longer and is missing some of the instrumentation that's in this video version (bits and pieces that were extracted from the 'Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse' album version).
So no, this mix has never been released outside of this music video.
when i was sixteen listening to and singing along with, rabies, my dad busted in and accused me of practicing witchcraft. he said i was "saying a spell" ..
Great song, great memories! "Look at what happened, I just slipped down these damn stairs..." became a mantra for my friends and I me in high school. I still say it sometimes and crack myself up.
@eolake Yeah, I think you're right, but right or wrong, we always said "look at what happened". Oh well, it's not the first time I have made up lyrics for a song and thought I was right! I'm sure it won't be the last.....haha.
@eolake I think you're right! But, for whatever reason, we would always say "look at what happened". It wouldn't be the first time I got the lyrics wrong on a song and certainly not the last.....! :)
@Alison0002 You commented 2 years ago, but had to reply coz you sound like me & my friends about that quote in this song. one time my friend & i were at a restaurant & my my friend gets up to go to the bathroom, which was in teh basement. & i hear what sounds like her falling & she's saying "owww" over & over again". i go to check on her & see her at the bottom of the stairs. i said, 'what happened'? & she said, "what do you mean what happened? i just slipped down these damn stairs!"
continued... my friend didn't actually fall, she pretended to & i fell for it. it was a set up joke & once i realized that, we both started laughing in hysterics. that was too funny. mostly since i should have known better. i felt like a fool for falling for it, but it was it was still funny all the same. i always think about that time with my friend when that sample comes up in this song.
Ugh, I can't find the re-mix of this song that they use on this video!!! :( I've listened to the Dub version and the Too Far Gone remix but none of them match this! :(
this version of the song is not available on any format but video, sorry.....though i do know how to convert youtube files to mp3 sound files so i have it...but thats just me
It's not the "Too Far Gone" mix. Far as I know, this particular mix is exclusive to the video, which is a shame considering it's the only version I like, and I like it a LOT (one of my favorite Skinny Puppy tunes).

Here's a flashback for me.
A part of Glass Houses stuck with me since I was 9 or so, and I had no clue why.
The part was, "Create vision fabricate, smash to pieces watch and wait-SMASH GLASS HOUSES!"

I think it's "what do you mean What Happened, I just slipped down these damn stairs". Not that it's important.
Anybody know what movie that sampling is from?

It's from the movie "Sticks".
The movie was made by ZBS Media as part of their "Cabinet of Doctor Fritz" series
