People barely do side dismounts, which i still like. And a handstand on the beam from China i have rarely seen, but china always drives me crazy with rulfova's and reuda's and korbut's

As of a former Gymnast and All Around coach that was an amazing Onodi. one of the best but I think she was going to do it in combination into a front areial.

how come they do their dismount on the side?

It was a trend that Khorkina started (I think she did it first anyway). If I remember correctly quite a few top gymnasts used this dismount in Sydney - including Elise Ray, Yang Yun & Maria Olaru.

And also I guess it was easier for people who weren't particularly good at doing double somersaults.

It was quite common for the gymnasts to do their dismount on the side at that time, and until now the dismounts on the side are still in the FIG Code of Points.

Valery is Russian, he married an American and had Nastia. She competes for the US.

Valeri is actually Kazakh and Anna is Russian. Nastia was born in the Soviet Union and the entire family moved to the States when she was a baby.

The chinese are always so fluid, combining difficult skills with artistry. This is beautiful gymnastics, and her Onodi was the most beautiful that I ever seen!
