I think the video IMPLIES that the bat is NOT in the batters hands. If that is the case there is an out.
Unless this was a check swing/bunt I don't see that happening. Most batters have a follow through that leaves the bat behind the batter. Unless they are way up in the box this would put the bat on the foul side of the batter's box.
The only other way I could see it happening is if the bat broke. But by deffiniton the bat IS still in the batters hand. SELL THAT CALL EITHER WAY!
The answer is wrong in the video if the batter is still in the batter's box. If the batter is in thatbatter's box as said at the start of the video then it is a foul ball which in theory is a dead ball. If the batter steps out of the batter's box and then touches a fair ball the answer is correct on the video.
Ok, I'm glad everyone else is saying this. If the batter is legally in the box and the ball hits the ground in fair territory and then hits the bat again, it's a foul ball! That's the way it works for bunts, aren't the rules the same for a swing?
It will depend if the batter made an volunteery action at the ball. If he did, it will be an imidate dead ball "better is out." If he didn't, then the play will go on
If the batter was still in the batter's box, Umpire Dave got it wrong. It's a foul ball. That has been the professional interpretation of the rule for at least 50 years. If still in the batter's box, the batter should not be penalized for illegally batting the ball if it bounces up and hits the bat a second time over fair territory unless the umpire judges the action intentional. If the batter is out of the batter's box, the ball is dead and the batter-runner is out.
The procedes to get the call wrong. 6.05H (h) After hitting or bunting a fair ball, his bat hits the ball a second time in fair territory. The ball is dead and no runners may advance. If the batter runner drops his bat and the ball rolls against the bat in fair territory and, in the umpire's judgment, there was no intention to interfere with the course of the ball, the ball is alive and in play;
The batter would only be out if the bat struck the ball for the second time once the batter has left the batters box...if the batter was inside the batters box during the 2nd contact with the bat then the runner is safe...
Foul ball.

thts not true
the batter has the right to the batters box,
so if he is in the batters box which it says at the beginning of the video, then it would be a dead ball
but the batter wouldnt be out

Why is everyone posting something other than the answer? It says right in the video what the answer is.
