  • It should be pointed out that the newer Atlas N scale Trainman sets includes a terminal section that is "disguised" as a trackside instrument shed making it much easier for one to hook up the feeder wires.

Atlas did a great job with these sets. This has the be the best starter set ever made for N scale.

  • @RobynWatts and a new (uglier) power pack!

  • @TOY5OLDI3R24 Keep in mind, I wrote that when Atlas was using the power pack that came with the first and second runs of the sets. Since then, they came out with the newer power pack that looks like a repackaged Bachmann starter set pack (and I'm not happy with that decision).

  • Yes you can. Although the difficulty in doing so depends on the model. Putting a decoder into one of these starter set engines would be a bit of a project.

  • how can you install a DCC decoder on an atlas engine?

  • Heh, this may be a "rookie" question, but, Can you have 2 locomotives on the same track without DCC? Or do you need DCC to do that all together?

  • @ShabogamoLakeRider yes but they will move at the same speed.
