That boondhi ladle could make many kitchen tasks easier--anything to do with "pearls" for sure, and I can see variations like "cocoa puffs" or popcorn flavor boondhi. This technique opens up many possibilities.

make sure the oil is really hot and make sure you dont overcook them. otherwise.. oily!

Try using a fine mesh colander...or ask for a gnocci masher...in India they use a similar version for making puranpoli filling...works for me.
