Well I was in ballet for 12 years and could never hit 180 when my left was leading so maybe she does just have issues with that...I hadn't thought of it before.
Silivas tried it at one time, so did Omelianchik, and I believe there was a Czech and or Bulgarian gymnast that tried it. Also, I think another Soviet as well.
Maybe it was a diffrent code of points back then and she got bonus points from a certian move(s) so she got that deduction erased. This probably isnt the reason she got a 10 but it might be.
Anything less than a 10.00 would be a disgrace to the sport. I mean, she had a SV of 11.00-12.00 and she only took a tiny step on her dismount so the final score is still higher than 10.00. I hate the old code of points; especially in the 1980s it didn't do justice to gymnasts who presented amazing difficulty. I'm so glad they changed it!
was that a full twisting layout or a full twisting tuck? either one, WOW!

Watch the one she did at the 1989 Europeans! All the way round and stuck cold! Perfect!

About the 180 split it may be due to an injure. I had the same issue for quite a long time until I realised I could do it in spite of the pain.

I agree, that girl couldn't do a 180 degree split leap if her life depended on it...

try watching her floor routines, she hits the splits there, but she's leading with her right leg on those, here her left leg is ahead
it's weird

Her dismount was triple twist!! No one else had tried it at that time. She could go with safe double back as others but she was so brave.

Actually, several gymnasts had done this dismount before her. Silivas did it at '85 Europeans.

Yes, Silivas used it at the 85 worlds and did it well.

Everything about Dudnik is stunning, except one huge thing: the girl couldn't do a split leap to save her life.

Lol I want to defend her so bad but I have nothin and that is true. Lol

She can on floor - I think she uses different lead legs on beam though, which is odd.

how did she get a 10.0 with a step on the dismount?
