@Sh4dowSin im learning this too... just remeber there are parts of this that are kinda challenging if your hands arnt seperated yet. So pay attention to the notes location
@Sh4dowSin i'm learning this piece now and its pretty tough for me. my main recomendation is get your polyrythem 2:3 down with both hands (triplets with right duple in left, and vice verca). practice with a metronome and learn one hand at a time for the tougher passages.
ur playing was so so.and the sound quality was slightly poor.
and also if note that it u should avoid wearing any bracelets or watches when performing . but rings are ok to wear. this is a mistake that alot of people on you tube make. so if u want look more professional when u perform don't wear any bracelets or watches. take note that all the pros never wear any kind of watches when performing. watch their videos. you won't ever see Lisitsa wearing a watch or bracelet when performing.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx no your right. its not the point. the point is the music and the player. I'm not making comparisons. its only the simple do's and dont's. I was just showing Lisitsa as an example. so again, when performing or recording your not supposed to wear any bracelets or watches. she probably was unaware of this so I'm just informing the performer. is that clear enough for you?
and to the performer. your performance was good but I know u could do better
@1Sedicar I don't see it as a do or don't... I've seen professional performances where hand/wrist jewelry was being worn...it did not impede on the playing therefore is not a golden rule..of course it would not be professional to wear like 9 wrist bracelets of different colors at a formal piano recital as that would be going against a formal events dress code...but as you can see this is far from formal...I don't see it as a mistake of anykind...
@xHuntedGunzPCGx it is somewhat true its not exactly put out as a do or don't.
it can be hard to explain.and anyways do u even play? so how would you know. and no there are no professional performances where the player wears hand jewelry except for rings. look at Piano competitions. No one ever does that. and the very odd if someone did that in a Piano competition.
but that is somewhat I guess if your not really performing.
@1Sedicar I've played the piano before...and wrist jewelry does not impede on playing...that is common sense to anyone with eyes. Obviously overly-dangling wrist jewelry would as it would be hitting the piano keys on every note. This person was just uploading a video of them playing...you don't need to tell them what or what not to do in terms of things that aren't affecting the playing. And i've seen numerous pianist who have worn watches. Is this a piano competition? No...it's someones room.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx you play piano you say. Oh I'm sorry I had no idea. So what Chopin's Etudes do you play. you play piano and you didn't know that. I commented on this video because he or she most likely doesn't know. I just enjoy helping young piano players who are still learning.
Oh and by the way boy if you claim that there are pro piano players who do wear jewelry or watches at there performances, name them and give me a link.
@1Sedicar I don't play piano at a level to boast about but I can play some intermediate pieces. I enjoy Michelangeli's playing and LOOK! Bracelet! And it's quite recent!
@xHuntedGunzPCGx So What Pieces do you play then? or What do you Consider intermediate. and Is that supposed to be a link? Because its not really working.
@1Sedicar What I play is besides the point...you were giving advice where it was not needed and clearly not asked for....going on with "So what Chopin's Etudes do you play?" is clearly an unnecessary comment. Some professional pianist wear wrist jewelry when they play...some do not...there is no rule for or against it.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx your right, my question is besides the point, and the point of my question is seeing how much you know. and I'm gonna have to say duh, ofc there is no written rule. so its fairly obvious now what your level of piano is. and thats probably level 0. I bet you can't even play this. and YOU think you know a thing about playing piano. well that shows how much you know.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx Part 1: and get a life?.... you argue so much over a musical instrument that you can hardly even play. and your incorrect way of thinking on this subject is just so ridiculous. I even showed a friend of mine this who plays as well. I'm not even gonna tell you what he thought? and back to the point.I really don't mind your incorrect opinions(way of thinking), ok ,just keep them to yourself. I never even asked you for your opinions(way of thinking) in the first place anyway.
@1sedicar No where does it say you can't wear wrist jewelry to a performance. I have seen professional pianists with it on so what are you saying? You have no idea of my skills on the piano so you are posting with no knowledge about me. And yes, get a life. You post on a comment over a month later which is only asking for an extended argument. Just because it is your belief not to wear wrist jewelry while playing does not mean it is the stone rule for pianists.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx well going out of your way to oppose someones point that never involved you in the first place is asking for an argument. have I made myself clear. oh please ,you can barely even play and your telling me what you think pros do or don't do. and I think I have a pretty good idea of what you can of what level of lack of skill is. and that is unmentionable. firstly you can't play this.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx and BTW you shouldn't even bother besides you speak of pros as if you know them so well and you can't even play a proper piece yourself. and anyways I don't care about what you have to say actually no offense but open your eyes you don't even know piano. so how can you even have a point in a this subject.
um let me help you understand a little. ok lets break this down for you. since you seem to not be catching on. okay its not some its very few BTW. thats why you have trouble finding even one picture. so try this. search "pianist"
(anything related to piano etc.) on you tube now, how many results did you find. now try the same with images on Google. now what did you get. did you find any with bracelets? that is the correct answer and final result hands down.
@1Sedicar I don't need to spend time searching google for a world-class pianist who wears wrist jewelry as I was able to search for a well known pianist and in the first link a picture showing him with wrist jewelry in a performance setting on was shown. Clearly this concept is quite difficult for you to grasp. ACTUALLY. You take the phrase, "beating a dead horse" to an entirely new level...give up
@xHuntedGunzPCGx since your like the dead horse you described lets just do this. alright lets make this brief. stop beating around the bush and get to the point of proof. yes point of proof. Some professional pianists wear wrist jewelry some do not, so you say. but where is your source coming from. can you play piano yourself even to a descent level? my source is from my own years of experience performing at recitals. and your source?
@1Sedicar Your comment is flawed in the fact that the topic of discussion can not be proven by a fact. And this puts you at a losing point in the "discussion" as some pianists, professional or not, wear wrist jewelry to performances, recitals, competitions, or whatever it might.....And some easily choose not to. It has nothing to do with my level of piano playing so it is a subject that is unnecessarily being brought up as I have enough piano experience to know that some wrist jewelry is fine.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx I have no idea of your skills? well maybe you should come to the recital some time and wear your bracelets.maybe then we could see your "skill".
or maybe its just that you and I both know that you can't play.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx every time I make my point you simply push it aside with excuses. or make it "oh thats besides the point". and yes by fact?. fact is you haven't been to any recitals. fact is you can't play piano good enough to go to one. so you haven't been to a single recital and you've never seen a professional pianist play normally. I've been to several recitals and it is unacceptable to wear jewelery like in this video. yes are we clear now? or are you also a professional. pianist.
@1Sedicar You just agreed with a point I've already stated though. I've stated in one of my second or third comments that wearing jewelry like this to a professional or formal setting is completely unacceptable for rules pertaining to any formal event or performance. Although I disagree in that a pianist should not wear any sort of wrist jewelry to a performance, recital, or competition. As I've seen pianist, professional and not, wear them, on multiple occasions. You may continue to belittle.
@xHuntedGunzPCGx part 1: its can be difficult to understand if you've never been to a recital or competition. It is common sense to think that for pianist wearing jewelery while performing is normal. yes that is the normal way to think about it. but when you go to a recital you won't find anybody doing this. and especially those competitions. the winner is never wearing jewelery.
(try looking at different links you will notice this)
I know that has nothing to do with the point but moving on.
Well done! This afternoon I picked out the first 12 notes. I hope to someday play the whole piece, though with so many sharps, I find it very difficult.
i was cheking other ppl videos on utube and someone said that nicnad had the best redention so i checked out your video and i miust say its true!! u make it sound so mellow and floaty... :)
This music was featured in the 1948 classic movie "Portrait of Jennie," about a struggling artist who is haunted by a beautiful girl. I love your interpretation.
A self Starter! Excellent! I am so proud of you, DeBussy is challenging at best, having taken piano lessons for nigh 10 years! Keep up the good work, you can do anything you set your mind to do...you JUST proved it! Harmony!
you play beautifully , like the other poster said i dont know alot about piano, but ive always loved the music and the way your hands seem to float across the keys . beautiful
This song is so hard!! It randomly speeds up at parts, and pauses at other parts. And it involves a lot of focusing to make sure you're not speeding or going to slow in places (playing it for a recital -___- )
I like your version though, it's a good tempo. Sped up in a few places where it could've been slower, but overall good.
nice but just one comment, in the beginning part where you have to speed up, don't try to trill the first three notes in the beginning of each measure, they are triplets
GIves me shivers my dear, very well done. Your temperment of the meter is very natural, I know you were self-criticizing your own tempo but the piece shifts as the movement grows and you've captured the inner soul of the composition. Old Claude would be proud ;)
My teacher gave the sheets of this piece to me before the holidays started. Now I have to learn it, but it's very difficult for me because I started to play the piano in february. I don't no how to manage this...
This might seem completely off the wall, but try looking at photos of impressionist art while you listen to a recording of this music. Debussy was composing at the height of the Impressionist Movement. It's all related. Allow any emotion to come to the forefront as you practice. But most of all, have fun with it.
I am curious to know your progress. I hope you will post a video of your musical accomplishment.
Absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't a big fan of Debussy until I heard this. Record this next time on a real piano! Electrics are great but see if someone will let you try it on a Steinway! You're amazing!
This seems to capture very well the sound of a piano roll version, said by some to be Debussy's hands. Truecrypt had it recently, gone now. Lucky I kept this one on Favorites!
Dude.. Brilliantly done. By far the most intelligent interpretation on YouTube. You've got very evenly played notation as well, what nonsense are you talking about off tempo? pfft. Bravo, gonna go back to practicing this piece now :D Thanks for the video, finally a decent version to listen to for reference!
seriously? it was too choppy and its supposed to flow together, i think that part was the worst, but i like all the dynamics and feeling in this so this is probably the best ive heard/seen so far out of like 10
Wonderfully played! This piece strangly reminds me of dying and passing to the other side ... in a strange and beautiful way though ... I don't know why.
oh my God! You're very talented, the tempo to me seems almost perfect, although I haven't heard it so many times, but many enough, I think hehe... great!!!
Wow that was amazing!! And I really love the wall :)

Entre autre le son des triolet avec les quatre croches je les entends comme pas très juste mais ca ne choque absolument pas. comme quoi..

nice but just one comment, in the beginning part where you have to speed up, don't try to trill the first three notes in the beginning of each measure, they are triplets

Start with some decent grammar.

And are you 100% positive that your sentence is correct?
davedeafdave 2 years ago
This might seem completely off the wall, but try looking at photos of impressionist art while you listen to a recording of this music. Debussy was composing at the height of the Impressionist Movement. It's all related. Allow any emotion to come to the forefront as you practice. But most of all, have fun with it.
I am curious to know your progress. I hope you will post a video of your musical accomplishment.

Absolutely gorgeous. I wasn't a big fan of Debussy until I heard this. Record this next time on a real piano! Electrics are great but see if someone will let you try it on a Steinway! You're amazing!
Ancalagon4554 3 years ago

With Debussy, if you are not good with your left hand, you are screwed.
You played great though.

Wonderfully played! This piece strangly reminds me of dying and passing to the other side ... in a strange and beautiful way though ... I don't know why.
