how do you charge it??

the easiest way is to use some sort of fur (i used rabbit's fur) and pvc pipe. you rub the fur up and down the pvc pipe while rubbing the end of the pvc pipe on the top of the leyden jar in order to deposit the charge. this is a really small jar that we built just to fool around, but this method of charging works for large jars, too.
