  • They're all so smart and inspirational and wonderful. I'm so in love i swear.

  • @ 4:57...ouch, it looks like Brian's close to crying there :( I don't think I can even manage to imagine how tough the entire thing had been on all 4 of them. What an incredible bunch of guys.

  • It seems to me that at the end, Queen were closer than ever.

  • I loved Queen, love Queen, and will continue to always love Queen. Great musicians, great performers, great guys and always had/have class and dignity. In my opinion they made some of the greatest music ever produced. I also think Freddy Mercury was the best rock singer I have heard.

  • that is so sad.

"It would be my fondest wish to be on tour."

that must've been the hardest interview for Brian

  • Brian mentions that they recorded some tracks for "the next album a couple of weeks ago" and planned to go back into the studio again "at the end of the month". Obviously these are what would become the Made In Heaven tracks ("You Don't Fool Me," "A Winter's Tale," "Mother Love," etc.) I think that puts this interview in May of 1991, when Brian was in the US promoting the album

  • Tough around the 4:50 mark when Brian is talking about the "relationship" of the band. Especially the part when Brian says "alot of stuff has been happening to us personally". (et. al)

  • I think they are doing a great interview.. It must have been sad for them and emotionally hard.. 4:43. I have a deep respect for the way he answer the questions, knowing Freddie was dying.. heartbreaking....

  • Aw.

  • Everyone's saying "Oh poor Brian having to lie" Brian was lying because it was Freddie's dying wish that they kept it secret and they all respected that. Brian's not getting upset they he had to lie, he's getting upset knowing that in a few months time Freddie was going to die.

  • What is up with the video? The quality is HORRIBLE.

  • @jumpyjedi It's the 90's, enough said.

  • I'm sure Brian nearly broke down @ 4:57. Sad sad time for all of them.

  • sad:( cry....

  • So sad... =(

  • Headlong was released in UK May 1991 the video shot in Nov/Dec 1990 & (Freddie in Blue shirt, waistcoat & tie studio sections) & April 1991 (yellow jumper performing with the band)

  • pause at 5:06 :D

  • so sad, seeing this knowing what was on the cards. been reading some of the comments from before,,and has left me quite choked up,,god i miss freddie..

  • rodger taylor brian may!

    awesome music men.

hendrix ...well that is proof on its own why they were some awesome.

  • Roger does seem to hold together quite well!

Wonder how John was affected by Freddie's death?

  • he quit the music industry after there last album

didnt even go to there music hall of fame induction

  • @cycoturkey101 John Deacon didn't leave until 1997.

  • @tieyourmotherdown1 he left after made in heaven, he just did one last gig in '97 with them and elton

  • poor brian his eyes :(

  • "I would give a lot to be out on tour next month..." Oh my god.

  • It's damn sad to think how brian must had felt with that question..

  • =( So sad, Roger holds it together well, Brian not so much. God it must have been horrible.

  • Wow.

That must have been really difficult for Brian. He's such a great, strong guy. I would've been crying my head off if my best friend was dying.

    :'(

  • Brian gets choked up at 4:58 :[ sad

  • That's so sad.... It's hard not to cry....

Poor Brian... I hate seeing him so sad... well, almost crying.... God, I just can't imagine what a burden it was to see his friend dying and try to behave as if nothing happens....

And still - though without Freddie, but he's on a tour again! And this tour is really huge!! And Bri is amazing - as always. "Let's do this song for Freddie".... And he was so touched that he confused the lines... And he was almost crying again :) Love him....

  • i can't bear seeing Brian so sad...

  • Oh so sad. Poor Brian almost breaks down at cries at the very end. Tlhe corners of his mouth pull down, his ower lips comes out an his face amost disolves. I admire this man so much as a human being, he has to be one of the nicest and most sincere people in rock.

  • roger seems to be ok

but brian looks very sad :(

  • "Freddie's not up for it at the moment..." Its crazy watching this and realizing that at the time none of the world knew he was dying from AIDS. Poor Brian looks very sad =(

  • But then again, the interviewer mentions that this month marks the 20th anniversary of Queen. They hired John Deacon in February of 1971 and began the first album, meaning that this interview may even be February 1991 -- 9 months prior to Freddie's death.

  • I'm guessing this interview came out around March-April 1991. Innuendo was released February 5, 1991. In the interview, Roger says Canada was the first country in which the album went gold. According to the RIAA website (which I know is U.S., but we can use the dates), the album was certified gold on April 3, 1991.

And since Freddie died November 24, 1991, it seems they were well aware of badness a good 7-8 months prior.

  • Plus, they didn't show any videos after the "Innuendo" video.

So obviously they didn't have anything to see Freddie by that point (ex. I'm Going Slightly Mad, TWTDOOL)

When did "Headlong" come out as a single/video? Before or after the Innuendo video?

I really LOVE this album BTW. Easily in my top 5 favorites.

  • headlng was released after the innuendo single.. early 92 as far as i remember..

  • you forgot the video for these are the days of our lives. That video was released just a few days before his death. Or was it after? I can't remember now :P

  • @Billkal I think Headlong was the first single but Innuendo is that video they showed much more at the time. I barely saw Headlong anywhere.

  • This shows how strong they were at the time. Dealing with sad reality and at the same time keeping the truth deep under. They must have been very much hurt inside and open and frendly for the medias.

  • We see the sadness upon brian's face.

  • This couldnt be long before Freddie himself made the news public. I have a lot of respect for him, he carried right on until the very end.

  • "teritri" (territory)

  • I love you Brian.. i dont think i'll ever know how he could get thruogh that.. like when Elton John sang at Dianas funeral.. but somehow sadder.. xx

  • Wow that last minute and half is just something else...not sure how Brian got through that....

  • I would just like to say that it's so sad to see this, especially Brian, but i do think you can see that Roger is sad to because he looks sad and he just sounds down. Also, he doesn't talk about the present only the past. But poor Brian he looks soo sad:( :( it's sad to see and sad to kno he'll never will have his dream to tour like the old queen formation

  • I remeber this.Brings it back seeing it again.

    Long Live Queen!!!!!

  • I have tears in my eyes already at 03:40, he is so sad, it's unbelievable...

  • For years I thought the Beatles were the best. Lately, I am beginning to think Queen surpassed the Beatles.

  • @mibuenafamilia They did, but they needed the Beatles to do it ;)

  • @mibuenafamilia beatles are the biggest, more successful and influence music act in history that is a fact. To know which is better is about a subjective opinion.

  • Oh dear god, this is one of the saddest things I' ve ever seen.

Roger managed to behave nearly normal, but seeing Brian in this condition talking about Freddie is unbelievable sad...

  • I tried not to cry while watching this, but I couldn't do it.

    T_T

I hate to see Brian's gorgeous eyes so sad.

  • Poor Bri, his eyes... :(

  • how sad!!!

  • Brian's eyes are sooo sad! :'(

  • aww poor brian :'(

  • Yes, he was really suffering, it was kind of obvious (4:58). Roger Taylor managed to act like there was nothing wrong.

  • Who do you mean by pricks??

  • This is so sad. Mercury was dying of AIDS and the band knew. Freddie was putting all his effort into doing the last album.

  • this interviews so sad

  • Does anyone know what month this interview took place?

It's so sad as we all know that Brian knew they'd never tour with Freddie again.

  • Brian rules.

  • thanks for posting this - lord, they put too much make up on Brian - he looks like a China Doll! :-)

  • omg,i can´t imagine how hard that must be, talking about how Freddie is not well and knowing exactly why he is not well and that there will never be a tour again... Brian is very brave in this interview!

  • i don't see what is rong with brian may, he seems fine 2 me!

  • Poor Brian he's trying to be strong during this interview.

  • I LOVE YOU BRIAN!!

  • Aww, poor Brian! I wanna give him the biggest cuddle ='[

  • There's one thing true in life. The good die young, pricks live forever. R.I.P Freddie Mercury.

  • I'm tearing up right now! Poor Brian, it must've been hard to say all those things knowing that Freddie's time was being stolen from him.

  • ooohh poor brian!!!!!!!!!!! :'(

  • if i could make a wish on a shooting star i would wish to be born back then and to be great freinds with queen....that would be soo awesome!

  • Oh, he really means what hes saying, would be his wildest dream to tour next month, how sad cus he knows its impossible ;E. Rock on Fred

  • It makes me cry seeing Brian struggling to keep Freddies secret that he had AIDS:(I mean Freddie didn't tell the public that he that fucked up disease until the day before he died:'( RIP Freddie and God Bless u and all of Queen:)

  • painful viewing seeing brian searching for a story for why the album was a success. he was trying to convince everyone that things were ok but they were obviously not. what month was this in 1991?

  • i agree that was hard to to watch the thoughts goping through brians mind poor guy knowing his friend is dying My heart is with them all God bless freddie

  • what month in 1991 is this from?

  • I don't think you can lie very well knowing your best friend is dying and having to put on a mask to the rest of the world

  • now when he is going on about family does he choke up or does he sneeze

  • technically brian didn't lie did he?? i mean, all the reasons he gave for not going on tour were the truth, he just craftily got around the main reason. oh and he looks so sad! he knew they would never tour again and that fact looks like it tore him up.:(

  • no, not emotional over the tour... emotional over Freddie being ill with AIDS and having to keep it quiet to maintain Freddie's dignity in the last days of his life. It is emotional to watch it. Nothing to "LOL" about here.

  • It would be my fondest dream to see them perform too:( Oh man, that was so hard to watch. Poor Brian. We miss you Freddie:(

  • Ohhh this so sad... poor Brian had to lie about the truth. I can see how awful he felt. Not just because he tried to lie, but because of his close friend. :/

  • so sad! :-( i never see this, thank you

  • Shut up you twat

  • why? i didn't say anything against queen.

  • What lies did they say??

  • i mean he cant hide his pain very well. he's trying hard to cover it up - but it's just not working. he cant lie properly. thats what i was saying.

  • get a life mate i hope you get in that suituation sometime

  • Oh and i'm sure that's not affected by the fact that one of his closest friends was dying now is it you dick

  • its so sad when brian gets choked up, becouse u know what "hard times" theyve been through, with freddie and everything:(

  • I want to cry...I mean, with retrospect we can decode Brian's entire interview, but it's amazing how well he makes us believe that they just needed some time to do their own thing before touring started up again...

  • Thank you for posting this. I hadn't seen this interview before. Love Brian and Roger!

  • oh my good...he is so...honest u can see evrything trough his eyes...I love you Brian.
