  • And the terminator at 7.16...... Hahaha, this video is one of your finest.........

  • NIN at 4.39... Nice one :D

  • Your vids are always pure class. And to be honest, you manage to make just about any synth sound good...

  • whats the song from 0:12 to 0:37 or is it just something made up

  • I think I'm going to buy one of these, then watch T2.

  • I rate the ENSONIQ number 3 best synth of ALLTIME behind A YAMAHA DX7 MK 2 an Roland JX8P.

  • Quality vid and sounds

  • This is fucking great 8)

  • what do they smoke in Poland just sayin what is it potatos? dam i need to load a bowl o potatos...

  • Nine Inch Nails @ 5:06 ftw

  • Ensoniq. What must be said about this amazing company? There is nothing to say, they are the best. Period.

  • god i love the sq80 and esq1!!!

  • 02:28 - It sounds like something from the SID made by the same man: Bob Yannes.

  • Great Projekt

  • NIN!!! good keyboard

  • 9:00 INSANE!!!!! you'r mad..

  • The envelopes and LFOs on this thing are amazing. The SQ80 model has more samples, polyphonic aftertouch etc was supposed to be improved over the ESQ1, but I wonder if it has the same feel. ESQ1 was one of Skinny Puppy's main synths right before the "VIVIsectVI" era and they used multiple ESQ1s live on "Aint It Dead Yet"

These and your OB12 demos are two of my favorite demos on YT. It's great to watch you edit sounds in these vids especially when one knows the interface of these synths. Peace

  • I freaking love these demos god dammit. I want your patches. Also, where is your music?

  • you are a god among men

  • Bomb Jack for the c64 at 02:29

  • Gets so yummy, so skinny puppy, around 7 mins in.

  • Everything here is fantastic

  • I loved my esq1...Sounds that FEEL!

    try my esq1 (1998) song i made

  • Cool! How did you synthesize the "sync" sound at 2.40?

  • 4:40 a warm place... awesomeness

  • man...i have a sq-80 and i cant get anywhere near these sounds...i have really cool c64 and atari sounds tho..

  • Oh my god, 6:46 is some fantastic synthesized vox-esque stuff. That sounds so amazing and otherworldly.

  • i want to know what this is from where the guy screams: "WHAT IS THIS? OH MY GOD! WHAT IS THIS??? WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING???"

  • @alexmauer I believe it is from Reservoir Dogs. The scene where a cop is tied up and tortured.

  • Nothing short of brilliant.

  • fuck yourself with those video samples. good music btw :D

  • i want to live in 8:30 ...........

  • A Warm Place!!!!! goo-d memories

  • Loved the Terminator part.

  • this is like watching a TROMA movie. i wish all musical instruments had demo vids like this! :)

  • oh man, where do you get those fucked up samples from? they're crazy!

  • I'd love to see this guy get his hands on a Jupiter 8. It would be nice to see one fully explored in this fashion.

  • music is violence. thank you for this.

  • Very nice.

  • which unit do you like more or less. K3 vs ESQ1

  • Too much unneces-scary human pain to my ears on all your vids.brrrrr!

  • 9:45 my head exploded

  • do you sell your patches? they sound awesome!

  • Nice vid. Jexus captured the spirit of getting in there and tweaking your own sounds from the ground up, going outside the box and pushing the limits of the esq-1. I hope he can get his camera fixed... all those bugs... just kidding... This vid alone may tripple the going ESQ ebay values... lol I may buy a second ESQ before people start driving up the prices.

  • Just bought my second ESQ1. Had one a few years back, which I couldn't program because the screen was dead. It was a metal-case one. The one I just got is the plastic case variety and just so you know, those don't have a headphone output!!! That's mildly annoying but other than that, it was well worth it.

  • WHAT CARTRIDGE ARE YOU USING?

  • What happens in the start??????

  • This video alone convinced me to search for an ESQ1. I actually became obsessed with getting one and Jexus' high regard of it gave it an almost cult status in my mind. I freaked out when I saw one for 250 at the local music store. Jumped on it and have pulled 3 all nighters in a row now programming. The thing is the most underrated synth I have ever come across. What an amazing bargain and a true testament that you don't need a new synth to make great sounds!

  • how was that first patch achieved?

  • yeah@7:30, terminator . . . i'll be back :D

  • Very nice! 10:00 "FUCK VANGELIS" and "FUCK JARRE" Very nice!

  • @FatSynthDude what do you mean fuck jarre? that dude had some cool stuff if i am thinking of the same guy.

  • @MrDebauch Pause the video at 10:00 (might take a couple tries since it's only up there for a split second) Jexus has a screenshot of an ESQ-1 posted up backwards that says 'FUCK VANGELIS' on the top line and 'FUCK JARRE' on the bottom line.

  • @FatSynthDude LOL Best patch names ever!

  • At 4.40 are NIN!!!

  • nice towtruck @ 9:30, what movie is that from?

  • @jota1995devil: Terminator 2 - Judgment Day

It's the chase scene, where the T-1000, driving the truck tries to catch John connor, the boy on the motorbike.

  • THAT IS BADASS!!!

  • 1:13-1:42 Where does that screaming come from is it from a movie?

  • Jexus, please, share your ESQ1 patches!

  • proud to be polish now

  • I feel so unimaginative everytime I watch one of Jexus's videos cause all I wanna do is get his patches, but never take he time to explore my synth as he has....

  • 8 people "disliked" this video because they prefer their synths to sound like nothing.

  • @sweeterthananything its like on his dx7 video, a bunch of old farts are complaining that he's not demonstrating the "lovely 80s sounds" you can make with it! it's the old farts that can't program synths that come on here to hear the presets on their old "favourite synths" that give it thumbs down...

  • Holy crap! I've had an esq for years and never had sounds like that come out of mine!

  • Lovely demo. I am totally sold.

  • me too have this. the 8 bit cpu rarely hangs up. so cute synth!

  • Could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me your patches? I have one of these and I could really use your sounds!

  • atari bass @ 10:28

  • best demo ever

  • ha nice rendition of Terminator theme there.

  • anyways you can send me your patches? ;) i love the one around 7:35

  • Love the sound, dirty and lo-fi digital bliss topped off with analogue roundness, sometimes it does sound very close to a C64, if there was anything like a SID 2.0, this would be it, is there anywhere you can find a MIDI parameter chart for this one?

  • kocham twojich syntezatorow...

  • that's an Aphex sound at 6:30!

  • this is the total classic, never leave it super guy.

  • you have lots of imagination

  • Nice little rendition of "A Warm Place" at 5:00.

  • @wado1942 NICE I didn't notice that before.

  • The sounds are so messed up the poor ESQ1 can't handle it and is garbling rubbish on the screen. Seriously I've never seen my screen look like that with text scrolling across. Great stuff as always Jexus ;)

  • right around 1:20 is such a awesome poly sound.

  • ? it's exactly like the sq 80... the cartridge is just on the opposite side... but 2:30 - 2:37 ? What sort of crazy patch is going on there?! also 8:09 -8:31 ! Rhythmic LFOs?

  • The part around 2:39 is awesome xD

  • i think 6 min is very severed heads-esque

  • i just bought one! my first synth with keys.. love your videos.

  • "F*CK VANGELIS, F*CK JARRE" :D ;D ;D

  • Somewhere around the eight minute mark sounds a lot like a Nero's Day at Disneyland song.

    <3 jexus!

  • 7:16 could be a great album ending with guitar and drums

  • why the fuck is this on youtube?

make an EP that would be amazing

    cutting edge electronic genius

  • i still cant believe you make a esq1 sound like this.

  • You capture a sutch unice vibe that i cant describe with words. But i simply love it! So cold, dirty and melancolic. You really inspire me!

  • 7:17 Sarah Connooor ;-)

Respect for all your videos, dude. Really cool work.

  • 8:30 + 8:50 !!!!!

    bellissimo!

  • i wanna eat your brain.

  • Absolutetly amazing. I used to have a ESQ-1, but it never sounded this good ;)

  • Nice!!!! :)

  • 1:45 that sounds like Run To The Hills

  • 7:16... love to my ears.

  • Nice Reznor action at 4:40 - 5:23. :-)

  • warm place,I owned esq-1 to,good thing for dark warm sounds and digital pads

  • I think this is Awesome. I ordered a used one and I don't have a manual for it, can you tell me where I can find one.

  • Which one is better ESQ-1 or Ensoniq SQ-80?

  • Überzeugt = convinced :-) That synth is cool + the player

    Regards/TinaBecker/Germany

  • that terminator-split at 7.16 is pure genius!!!

  • those are some very unique patches you have there. nicely done on the envelope programming

  • I sold mine a year ago for 300$... Stupid me, should've kept it.

  • I still have my old beat up Eps, got it back in 94 for my 18th birthday. Can't bring myself to sell the old beast.

  • how many sound carts do you own for your ESQ-1?

  • The ESQ-1 is one of the most underrated digital/analogue hybrids of the 80ies and deserves all attention!!! Great demo. :)

  • big time. they are getting popular now. better grab one before the go up in price!

  • Jag behöver en sååå mycket..trånar efter en.^^

  • fucking dope!

  • SICK!!!!!!!

  • on behalf of myself and all other esq-1/sq-80 owners, you must share your patch banks mr Jexus! ;)

  • Hey, don't speak for me...lol. why would you want another programmers sounds? HE made them. Don't share them Jexus!Make your own man and get creative!

  • I got tired with the interface, and sold mine for a ridiculously low amount :( what a mistake

  • onezeroeightzero : You got tired with the interface? The ESQ1 and SQ80 are two of the easiest synths to program. The UI is so well designed.

  • I prefer having as many parameters on different controls instead of having to switch between them. yes the ESQ1 is easier to program than say a DX7, but its interface is still obstructive to me. but I do regret selling mine :(

  • i used to have one of these , i love roland synths though

  • the terminator part is fucking class

  • that was the high point of the vid for me! made me want to learn it...:)

  • Your two ESQ-1 videos have a kind of NIN "closer " kind of look to them. GREAT WORK!

  • hey, your right ! he is a fan of nin.

  • "A Warm Place" 04.40

  • damn fine

  • NIce demo, I also have an ESQ-1 , and it's a great synthesizer. I've posted both videos on my blog switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • 02:30 ROTFL

  • 8:08 is really wicked

  • is this FM? Sounds like it here and there but some of it sounds subtractive too like it's a hybrid but i didnt think they had hybrids til way later on

  • It's analog. I'm sure that.

  • digital waveforms / analogue filter

  • it's a mix between analog and digital. It' has sample based oscillators and analog filters, vca etc. So it's capable of DX7 type sounds and also analog sounds.

  • thanks that's what i figured... there are some sounds on here that there's no way to duplicate exactly without FM... you could get it to sound kinda like it but the metallica DXish sound wouldn't really be possible on analog

  • also on the esq1 there's AM Modulation and hard sync. esq1 has two Waverom with 32 waveshape per osc (3 osc per voice). The CPU is underpower motorola (the lfo's slow down when the supply of work is high). The analog filters are 8 CEM3378 with built in mixer with panning. The esq1 is very spectacular synthesizer: SID sound, res moog bass and more...

  • terminator part rocked :D actually everything rocked...want moar

  • Dzięki za film. Planuje kupić esq-1 albo sq-80 a niczyje "trajałty" nie trafiają do mnie jak twoje.

  • Thank you. Your videos are awesome. Now I'm going to have to spend more time trying to coax some of those sounds out of my own ESQ-1.

  • no part 2 ?

  • not yet, he usually uploads part 2 later on

  • Dude... KICKASS! Thanks a lot for making these masterpeices. Really helpfull and inspiring.

  • 7:00 real amiga feel ..

Super nice synth, love mine ..

Lets upload those patches on your website ;=)

  • Excellent, one of your best performances ever.

  • ensoniq, the sleeping giants of gear

  • nice.

most of this could fit well in a horror movie ;)

i've been thinking about getting one of these for a while.

(i can read what it says at 10:01)

  • by the way, whats the melody at 2:30 to 2:38 . it sounds familiar but i can't but my finger on it

  • Recognize it too and it is a tune from a commodore 64 game/demo. That one might in turn be a cover of some other song as often is the case with sid-tunes

  • If you've ever downloaded keygen music, it is definitely close to one of them songs

  • Int1 I f*ck vangelis

    f*ck jarre

    oops I just revealed a secret. :)

  • Man, those are some unique sounds. Loved it!

  • Awesome video, this is one of my favorite synths, I've always been a fan of the old vector synths.

  • This is wicked Jexus!

I love watching your video demos, keep up the good work mate!

    ------F I V E S T A R S-----

  • cool. but... it's so similar to other your videos... =(

especially like the aaaceeeed at 2:43 and the great pad at 3:40.

    thanks.

  • 4:50 is a warm place!!!

  • sick...

  • pierwszy :)
