bill bailey...the pioneer of the backslide (moonwalk)....the step...and "layin' the boards" : )

when he would tap his feet like that so fast (1:27 mark) no one else during the time could do that....NO1....without question bill was top 3 in terms of individual performers : )

The man had some great feet - clean taps and personality...maybe a little too much like Bill Robinson, but well executed and just the perfect length....unlike today, where everyone seems to think you have to tap dance 6 minutes to have a number.....gets boring if it's too long and lose the audience....polite applause is better than no applause, it seems.

bojangles taught him bro (or sis)....but one thing you may not know is bailey's style was much different than bojangles...bill mostly stayed with jitterbug and charleston, while bojangles was more a clean tapper (at least on tv and movies)...it is a well knwn fact (u can look it up) that bojangles was jealous of bailey...so much that he forbid him to do any of his styles in front of audiences...kinda messed up, but it's a part of life....i have a book explaining all about it. : )

@SimmySlydeJr2 yup. i never got a chance to meet him though cause he died before i was born. Pearl bailey is my mothers aunt. I'm also a dancer but its sad that bill bailey is my grandfather and i still can't do the moonwalk. lol
