i had an ulcer at one time when i drank alot of hard stuff, i puked out alot of blood and had black shit for three days. i had to get my stomach pumped for three days in the hospital and had nothing to eat or drink. its been three years now since it happened and i layed off the hard stuff, it never happened again. the doctors said it was caused by over drinking and that i should control my drinking or it may happen again. i would recommend to quit drinking if anyone had an ulcer from drinking.

I have done that procedure before. I was nervous too but most endoscopy procedures are done in one's sleep. I never even noticed that the procedure has been done. Yes, sadly, this is not uncommon with the treatment of stomach ulcers, it also happened to my uncle, only he had bowel cancer. My late husband was treated for 18 months for ulcers when he actually had very advanced cancer. Instead of receiving ulcer medication, he should have been either receiving surgery and/or chemotherapy.

Ouch ouch ouch this video makes my stomach hurt worst and the thing is that the doctors believe hat I have an Ulcer and i need to go through that test.

I have done that procedure before. I was nervous too but most endoscopy procedures are done in one's sleep. I never even noticed that the procedure has been done. I just woke up feeling tired due to the anesthesia. Even afterwards my stomach did not hurt. They did not see anything abnormal about my stomach.

About once every month or so get a blinding pain in the upper right portion of my stomach, it is accompanied by burning in my esophogus and I also burp up a lot of food. It is like an attack and it lasts 5-8 hours usually but it is miserable. It has been happening for about 6 years or so. I think it could be an ulcer. Any ideas from anyone?

You don't "get" peptic ulcers from Alcohol. You also don't get it from stress either however those two things including other lifestyles such as smoking can slow down the healing of an ulcer so it's recommended not to do so; they're not necessarily causes though. Most patients who are diagnosed with a peptic ulcer is likely due to a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in the stomach.

@SwiftRyder2 Actually stress can kill brain cells, unravel chromosomes, and stops the body's immune system which lets the stomach infect by its own bacteria which is where "H. pylori" comes from but that is actually not a normal ulcer, that is a bacteria, a regular ulcer can be; hereditary, due to your own blood type (type o), or your lifestyle BUT stress can greatly effect this ulcer. SO you have the "H. pylori" which is caused by stress and the regular ulcer which is increased with stress

Yes they do. The acid can damage the stomach lining where the bacteria can colonize and cause ulcer. But generally the mucus protects the lining from the acid. But some drugs as well as food can suppress the mucus production which can lead to ulcer. Also some food (tea) can cause increased amount of acid secretion which can also cause ulcer. Specially if you have them in empty stomach.

Ulcers are usually caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria.. which invade the mucosal linning of the stomach and facilitate acidic erosion but neither starvation nor "tea" would cause an ulcer..

i have peptic ulcer, and trying a new medicine prescribed by my doctor. im hoping it'll work. otherwise, i've no choice but to undergo endoscopy. and it really thrills me. :(

I do. Cause i just went to the doctor today and i have it. Im only 17. Its upper adominal pain and black adominal bowel movement.They will give u some medication and take a sample of ur blood

I think my mom my have some sorta ulcer...Not sure if she needs an endoscopy or gastroscopy.
She burps alot and says her stomach bothers her, and that her back also hurts...Maybe it related to the ulcer?

My 1st husband died really young of stomach cancer. He had been treated for years for ulcers. I blame late diagnosis by his doctor, (this is common apparently). He also worked in the Music Industry and drank spirits, smoked and lived life in the fast-lane. He was a brilliant guy that everyone really loved (sadly missed).
I think stress is the main contributory factor, that and certain types of bacteria (which can thankfully be treated by antibiotics).

Yes, sadly, this is not uncommon with the treatment of stomach ulcers, it also happened to my uncle, only he had bowel cancer. My late husband was treated for 18 months for ulcers when he actually had very advanced cancer. Instead of receiving ulcer medication, he should have been either receiving surgery and/or chemotherapy.
You are right though by making this point, I don't condone his lifestyle, I could never tell him anything, he was only 35.

i had one caused by stress but i treated her, sometimes theres no reason to appear it just do... the first thing i notest i had ungry all times if i stayed 1 hour without eating it starts hurting

I agree with PsychWolf, Ulcers looks far more painful then they are ever actually described (at least to my knowledge). The skin looks almost as if it has Necrotizing Enterocolitis, which only effects babies primarily because their digestive tract isn't well developed enough. Just...... ouch.

The pain is nothing like you imagine. I was down to 94 pound. The thing had shut muy system down. Luckily I finally got medical insurance at my place of work. My doctor is an angel. He literally saved my life
