B.O.C. is awesome, regardless of who backs up Eric and Buck. Although I am partial to the original band with Albert, Joe and Allen. There is so much talent in that original lineup. Miss it. Thank God for utube and cds.
I thought Rick Dees did a thoroughly watchable late night effort with "Into The Night" and wondered why it didn't catch on. Nevertheless, DEEs and this show is unrelated to watch?v=YsJyfJ0b-WA or "uncles and aunts with something to lose from your success in life" themes or "DUCKing sexual identity" themes, despite LISA CANning being this show's announcer or DEEs scoring a #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit with the 1976 novelty song "Disco DUCK". I was a college student when "Into The Night" was on TV
Rick DEEs was born RIGdon Osmond "Rick" DEEs III on March 14, 1950 in Jacksonville, FL, but was raised in GREENSBORO, NC, attending GRIMSLEY High there at 801 Westover Terrace, zip 27408. I was a college student in the Peidmont Triad of NC in neighboring Winston-Salem when "Into The Night" was on the air, but didn't know DEEs had history in the region until some time later. Unrelated: "And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss..." (RUDYard kipLING)
I know of Dees, but not this show, ya just never know what you missed until you see it online many years later. And of course, BOC still rockin it. So, is there more of this??
Yes you're probably right because the info i know about B.O.C is from 1971-1988 and thats when Joe Bouchard was on Bass and Albert Bouchard was on drums and the reason why i said what i said is because walsh4president said that Albert was on bass and Joe was on drums as i said before i know everything about B.O.C up until 1988 so don't quote me on that.
Your pretty close. Joe left BOC after the Club Ninja European leg of the tour, that would have been in 1986. Jon Rogers finished the US leg of the tour and was their regular bassist. Albert played a "one off" at some point; Ron Riddle played drums from 1987 till 1991 (somewhere in that time frame). I saw the Imaginos tour in July of 1988. It was all down hill after that.
Yes i think i was exaggerating a bit but i only do know BOC from 1971-1986 because i only knew that most of them left in 1986 and i only can keep on track with the info until 1986
because it seemed a bit complicated as you said it went downhill after the imaginos album but the knowledge that i know of BOC is pretty good for a 16 yr old Australian because they're not well known over here.
I would say your BOC knowledge is pretty sharp; I can see where there would be a few gaps. I am not even sure they have ever toured "Down Under" so that is kudos for you. The downhill comment referenced the bands overall decline. They still had quite a bit of game in the late 80's early 90's (even though the band tries to distance itself from that era).
I totally agree with that and on my videos is the song Blue oyster cult from the Imaginos album and i used the Fire of unknown origin album picture instead of the Imaginos picture and i didn't realise until i put it on you tube but if you get time to watch it, it'll be pretty cool.
Can't say other vids BUT I did catch buck with an SG during the summer tour of 1988. He only used that axe for one song. DFTR. It was a cherry red Gibson. There is a bootleg "Live in St Louis 1988" where you can also catch him with the SG...the footage is pretty jumpy and no Imaginos songs were played...blah.
Don´t forget the original video clip of "Joan Crawford". When E. Bloom sings " their eyes are turning the color of the frozen meat" he rises his sunglasses for a moment, and we can see his eyes (hey! "The Eyes Of Eric Bloom" is a good title for a song!!!)
Wow! look at Buck's hair, that's crazy! Who's the drummer? someone from Whitesnake or some other hair band...? I miss Albert Bouchard- the only Drummer for B.O.C.! Love these guys though.
awesome song, but not my favorite. The sad thing is, they have a dozen albums with awesome music, and the only song anyone knows, is this one. It's like, hey, I wanna talk about "A spy in the House of the Night" and "Shadow Warrior", or "Les Invisibles", and none of these "rockers" now days have even heard of them!
I know, I've wanted to espouse the glory of the lost Imaginos version of Gil Blanco County, and it's too much just to find someone who's familiar with them even beyond SNL.
you know it's the 80s when you see the big hair flying all over the place. I recall seeing these guys around 1975 when the live "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees" album came out. That band of tough guys from Jersey would've puked if they saw how they looked 14 years later. They wouldn't have cared for long, though, 'cuz Reaper made them a lot of dough. Rock on BOC!
I'm glad it was an actual live performance. I wish I could say the same thing for Rick Dees, but it is apparent that he had litle sense of BOC beyond the hits. As an interviewer, he DID NOT DO HIS HOMEWORK!
Unless a band ends up on your doorstep w/ ten minutes notice, any DJ or host worth h/er salt finds out as much as possible. Even before the internet, RD had enough money in his budget to buy a few albums, or call the record company. Cheese whiz!
Yep 1989 at the tail end of the Imaginos tour. Proabably the best BOC era in terms of being tight live as well as having contemporary set lists. Sadly then don't look or sound this good now sort of like a major league pitcher that doesn't know when to retire.
Yep. 1989 at the tail end of the Imaginos era/tour. Arguably the band never sounded or played better and with contemporary setlists. Alas they are too old to be touring now and have lost thier edge.
Blue Oyster Cult? now honestly how many bands do you think were influenced by these guys? This was a metal band before metal bands were called metal bands...every metal band that ever made it should be thanking these guys.....enough said!
This interview is flat. This host is an amateur. At least the performance was good! You can always count on the BOC, but it seems the Bouchard bros. are out at this point.
BOC interviewed??? Thank you!! I owned 'Agents of Fortune' on 8-track playing the hell out of it. Played the LP out, workin' on the CD. MOST underrated band EVER!!! Is there a petition for inducting them into the R&R Hall of Fame? Considering some inductees maybe it isn't that important. What criteria is used for inclusion? Originality, refinement, talent, sales; prostituting themselves, fornication worldwide, retiring and returning and retiring? Knighting Mick Jagger??? Inducting Madonna???
Thank you for these. I've loved BOC for almost a decade, and this is the first time I've seen footage of them actually being interviewed. Buck a Public Enemy fan? Who knew!
B.O.C. is awesome, regardless of who backs up Eric and Buck. Although I am partial to the original band with Albert, Joe and Allen. There is so much talent in that original lineup. Miss it. Thank God for utube and cds.
