Good way to find movies that you saw when you were little, but don´t remember the name: Try to remember an actor (perhaps you know another movies with the actor and this way figure out his name) then just go to Wikipedia and scroll down to the movie list.
omg is that tom wilkinson? man! i saw this film years ago!!!! and never even knew him back then...!! loved this film in theater though. remember picking up the ppbk book too..."only the impossible parts are true!"
Did you expect the lions to welcome you with open paws?
Lions saw the humans as a threat, so quite naturally they defended their pride. We watch lion documentary nothing has change encroachment into their land is seen as a threat, they will not be gentle with you, but kill you.
@BOOM7STAR It had nothing to do with encroachment. Slave traders would toss dead bodies out in the river giving the lions free food. Also, a Hindu burial tradition that left bodies uncovered also made the lions associate humans with food. For thousands of years primitive tribes of people have lived in close proximity of deadly mammals and they have never been a food source or actively hunted. These two lions were conditioned by man to view human flesh as a primary food source.
Excellent movie ... now can u control your fear, can you?. One of the best movie and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Its hurtfull to know dat people actually lost there lives for real becuase this is base on a true life story.
@84rcl Your actually kinda right.... I do have a twisted version of life, but I actually have a life. And I can see that you may need a life.. but its cool dude.. youtube will lighten you and make you a normal person Bow down to you tube..
based on a true story??? ok, two white boys from england kill two savage Lions and the true hunters of Africa couldnt... ok, that seems realistic. and I guess that Cleopatra was a white woman and no minorities ever lived in Egypt.. Hollywood Burn in Hell..
@Suffersosweetly This movie is an almost entirely fictionalized portrayal of Patterson's account. Only the most incredible parts of this movie are true. Patterson killed them both in real life,so there was only one hunter and he was from Ireland not England.
@Suffersosweetly Sorry man. It's a true story. Michael Douglas's character is made up but the dude Val Kilmer portrayed really did kill both the lions. Nothing racist about a movie that depicts something that really happened.
I am watching this movie as we speak an i ''Love it'' i think it had great cast, the 2 Lion's were just scary as hell an were done with cheap CGI like the newer films.
Beautiful shot's of Africa, I got it at Wal-Mart for 5$...Great Deal..i saw this in the 90's an loved it in theater an i still love it today... Def one of the better Animal/Terror films.
Also based on a true story, Like ''Primeval'' if you haven't see it based on Gustave the 20+ ft nile Croc that has killed 300 people
These lions are actually in the Field Museum in Chicago. They are the same lions from this story--stuffed. Look into their eyes.....but not for too long.....
@pdburk this movie was whack!!!! "Let's exchange rifles I gotta do some work tomorrow" Val killmer "okay" lol this movie was so fucking corny you people have no taste!!!
@ridah925 you're lying. HAWTHORNE (shakes his head on that) John?- (He holds out his beautiful rifle) Change guns with me- mine's much more powerful. I'll be finishing the hospital tomorrow so I won't be with you- but if you'll use this... (beat) ...then I will.
Patterson, touched, changes weapons. PATTERSON Thank you. (He turns to Samuel) Why does he need you by him?
@pdburk Did you know that the lions--while they are the real ones from the story--are about half their original size now? Their pelts were hacked up so many times by the hunters and then various owners, that they had to be put back together by the museum and they're now not nearly as impressive--or terrifying--as they were when they were alive.
LOL! I've forgotten how bad this trailer is. It's too bad too because the movie itself is actually really good. Trailer totally doesn't do the movie justice. And I always found it funny that Michael Douglas gets top billing yet he has only maybe about 45 minutes of on screen time. The movie totally belongs to Kilmer who is excellent in the movie.
could of been more deeper and impactful around the end scene when Kilmer is torching the forest. There could have been a face-off right there with the Lion vs Kilmer. That's the scene where i thought something "magic" was going to happen. It had perfect scenario movement and quite a riveting scenery for it to be actually pulled of. The director really should have done something with the fierce burning scene, it had perfect climax ending potential
thats the scry thing is man, they're real, ive seen them in the museum and i wana go to tsavo, they were killing for fun, not fod and they were perfectly healthy too,
what happened to my boy Val? he hasn't had a theatrical release in like 15 years. I researched it and it looks like every director is paranoid to work with him because he's had so many directors kicked off of previous releases
@RedMcMahon31 He is a great actor and it`s so sad because almost all his movies from the last decade have been straight to DVD expect for DEJA VU which he was a supporting actor and now he is doing movies with 50 cent? wtf BATMAN
I really want to see this movie, looks awesome, but every time Val Kilmer speaks I just picture him as Jim Morrison, hunting the lions in some wayward peyote trip.
Which, despite all reason, could make a very successful sequel.
And great casting on Michael Douglas, when his eyes get all crazy like that, you believe he kills lions for sport.
We watched this film at school when I was 15. I was still scared then! Although our teacher was into these kind of movies. We also watched I Am Legend. Now the thought of that still scares me today.
Only 35 men were eaten by the lions if they each ate 20 kg of meat per human. They could have easily killed more men and just eaten less meat off a person.

You'll read it with the lights on, and you'll never look at Fluffy, your housecat, the same way again, I promise you...
@nosirrom5 you are the moron retard, the lions they used for the movie were real lions so they cant just shave the lions head, they need it to attract females and it makes them look bigger
I read the book when I was much younger. It was one of the first books I'd ever read. It was too scary to me - as a child. I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie.
Its not as scary as it seems and their is footage of full grown lions attacking so its not a cheap production. Recommended to anyone that wants a good story or into a nice suspense.
This movie based on a true story ,the documentry was very interesting 2 150ppl were killed, mybe more,n the early 90's they found another lion same species as the killers n the documentry.
guys help me, there's a movie that was relesaed i think last year, about a family that goes on tour to africa and is attacked by lions, know the name? i wanna download it but i cant remember the name! luv y'all... oh and btw... this movie rocks! i was so afraid to go anywhere alone and in the darkness when i was a lil' girl! The Tsavo Lions remains are at The Field Museum in Chicago, Illiniose (not the zoo). Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson sold them at The Field Museum for $5,000.
I am goimg after scar and zira too before they kill another good lion or someone else
