Great songwriters and heck of nice guys, I recently talked with John Oates and asked him "Do you have any regrets?" to which he replied, "Shaving my glorious moustache." I will always love these two boneheads music, now and for many greasy years.
Daryl and John you two are one of my biggest inspirations in music..Daryl that VOICE.. What can I say...I appreciate and respect you both and I'm glad you two share a frienship after all these yrs..Hall of Fame is next..from a lil black boy in Brooklyn to a 41 y/o man in GA now..Still love you guys!!!!
Thanks for uploading. Great audio. It is very sweet song. It's a pity Daryl didn't write this song. If he did, i will love it more. Anyway, are playing in the studio? It looks like a recording studio.
This is an "All Time Best Performance". Keep on Daryl, John and everybody. There is a source of greatness that you all possess that just shines. Love the Live from Daryl's house-totally organic. Smiles-Julie.
Oh My God, Amazing. 4 Guitars, 4 voices, in harmony, in one room singin' one of the most amazing love song of devotion-my nerve endings are so alive, right now. Its like my soul is being massaged by 10 sets of hands. Hitting every nerve of fiber of my being. What a song and performed so well. Just amazing.
@SoothingSoulSuckers I don know if my other comment took but I was saying after hall and oats took eddie kendricks and david ruffin on a world wide tour to show they knew where their blue eyes got their soul........I had to givem the nod but steely dan is a whole other beast for sure
Okay, what woman wouldn't want to be "loved into the morning" like this... serenaded in a trailer... my kind of wake up call. I think I'm in need of another cup of java. BRB. Yes, please serenade me everywhere, everyday, just in the name of love love sweet sweet wonderful wetness... give me another kiss. If you don't like my comments, just skip them and read what some other twit has to say. I'm not your kind of twit then.
There's something richer about the timbre of Daryl Hall's voice than back in the day. Like any instruments, it's aged... but in a really good way. I think he knows how to use it a LOT better.
I would fly 10T miles through the pouring rain to see your face, bear my soul to a total stranger to say your name and I'm not ashamed just to love you into every morning I would change my name I won't do it for money I won't do it for pride, I won't do it to please somebody else if it don't feel right, at least I'll try, I'll do it for love what I'd do for love, I would write your name across the sky so the world could see what you mean to me sing my songs at the top of my voice to a empty room
It always feels so good to listen to Hall and Oates! Thank you sherrylynn70, for such a nice share to wake up to this morning! Great post to the host!
I didn't know that Hall & Oates ever made a video of this song. "Do It For Love" (while a newer song) is one of my all-time favorites by H&O. I love the fact that four guys can soulfully rock out this song with just four acoustic guitars. It was great to see T-Bone (dude on the far left-side). I love Daryl's scream at 3:13-3:15! Hall & Oates are simply have been great for 33 years! Thanks for posting this video.
Tom "Tbone" Wolk has been the longtime bassist with Hall & Oates (since 1981's Private Eyes album. He has also worked with Carly Simon, Jellyfish, Squeeze, Elvis Costello, Shawn Colvin and Billy Joel.
You would typically see Tbone playing bass guitar, but if you look at their Live Acoustic DVD and the acoustic videos on You Tube you will see what a great guitar player he is. Look near the end of the You Tube video of "I'll Be Around" to see a sample of his great guitar picking".
I saw Daryl Hall & John Oates in Stuttgart, Germany at the Stuttgart FestHahl in 1982(?) I was a fan before that and a bigger fan ever since. i go and see them whenever I am able. They are TRUE to their music and I will forever appreciate the joy they have given me over the years! Rock on Daryl and John!!!
I saw them in the late 80's on their acoustic tour in Los Angeles and to this day still one of my favorite concerts. And like you I was a fan from the 70's. This is the first time I saw this video and it shows how good they are to this day.
Great songwriters and heck of nice guys, I recently talked with John Oates and asked him "Do you have any regrets?" to which he replied, "Shaving my glorious moustache." I will always love these two boneheads music, now and for many greasy years.
