To arms: this is great music. The only thing I think
... too 80's sound (too many keyboards, no real drummer and so on ) Anyway what I wrote doesn't mean this is a bad music. That was the style and the song is really great. Bye and kisses to everyone (and the cars!)
You couldn't have said it better...I have always loved this song as well, and yes, this song does have a very eerie and poignant tone...I've always wondered what his parents found under the Hustler Magazine...Was it a gun, drugs, or both...
Honestly, I'm a HUGE Cars fan. This is definitely not one of Rics better offerings. I have to agree with the people who say this song sucks, especially vs. something as great as 'Something To Grab For'. I call it as I see it.
That was so awesome! I came to that video straight after listening to the radio show. I wonder if Tim just played a 45 on 33 or did some other editing too.
I bought the cassette when it was first released. Now I have the CD. Quite remarkable. Why "Jimmy Jimmy" wasn't used in a motion picture soundtrack is beyond me.
Dodge is an electronic music composer who pioneered synthesized speech music. He was one of the founders of the Center for Computer music at Brooklyn College and is now a part-time professor at Dartmouth.
Dang, is this song really that old? I was just starting my freshman year of college when this was released. It was a huge hit on the college music scene.
This was a great album back in the day. I remember I was 15 and living in hollywood! Man those were the times. Getting laid all the time with teenage girls! AHHH!
Fantastic video--and I still have the original vinyl, thank God. Bought it on CD a while back, though (for whatever the reason) the title had been changed from "Beattitude" to "Beautitude". Ric Ocasek is still a rock god and continues to impress me as a producer and active recording artist. I hope Ric remains with us for a long time to come; his music and poetry are timeless.

I have been a cars fan for a long time.. Ric is a douche bag.. Ben Orr was the talent in this band.
This song sucks!

My favorite Ric Ocasek song! Great video!

Ocasek really had his act together with synths. He's like a blend of Giorgio Moroder and Charles Dodge!

How in fucking hell did Ric get away with playing this live on the 1984 Cars tour?? Man, Ben and the boys were probably "WTF" ???

Yes, Ric Ocasek was the best 1982-1987, still is, but he lost it. Now it's more rock than pop-rock or pop :(

I've been a fan forever.
What a great great body of work.....from The Cars....to producing Bad Brains, Dgeneration etc....to Jimmy Jimmy....to Ric's current work....amazing.
and still vital.

My only criticism of this video is that it needed less "Jimmy" and more Ric. :)
