@heatbucspies55 I'd say he is...I watch Fox news just so I can get a bit of news from the right as well as the left, and everyday Bill says at least ONE thing that gets me.....every time, he never fails to be utterly ignorant on at least ONE occasion
The fact that some people can watch this and then try to connect any piece of it to Bush/Cheney shows just how disconnected and delusional the left wing has become. Time to learn your constitution and embrace your local tea party. Down with liberal radicals!!
What the fucking hell? Bill O'Reilly is utilising clarified speech, he talks over no one, he makes a few amusing comments and his points seem at the very least considered, if not for his generally quite illogical perspective I would attribute to him the making of a strong argument.
How did he go from that into the babbling, infantile, bitter NWO orator he seems to be today?
@Omnilegence it's the OLD O'Reilly....When this show was on, he wasn't having to cover up the right wing's corruption at this time, so Murdoch was probably more lenient on how much Bill could profess his REAL opinions...
@R1D3TH3SP1RAL This is all standard conservatism... there shouldn't be laws controlling people's behaviour which is harmless to others. You know what institution already in place is the only reason why one person's diet is anybody else's business? Government healthcare. I was more surprised at Bill Maher, being the first one to throw out the word "communism". He's moved a bit further from the center since then.
@eggory That's very true, I have grown increasingly annoyed with Bill Maher the longer this goes on. It seems like he is doing HIS job as well. He definitely isn't helping his defense in regards to the right wing labeling everything with a "liberal bias"... He is getting worse with his little shock factor jokes about the right wing being 100% corrupt and fascist, and I do not like how he twists info to lump Dr. Ron Paul in with the rest of those corporate lackies.
Drew was making A LOT of jokes, and Bill (the host, not the ass) wanted to be serious. I think Drew is just to friendly and jovial a guy to talk about serious issues. At least issues that aren't that very important (like national security or the economy). Like how "obese" people want seat belts on planes extended because they won't fit around their fat flabs.
@backwoodsninja Yeah, these were the days. Bill O'Reilly was actually an entertaining shit-talker just like Bill Maher, stupid sitcoms like Drew Carey were tolerable (I was young), and Star Trek Voyager. Then the butthurt cult of republicanism had to anoint the Cheney administration to lead the American spazzing after 9/11, and everything went to shit.
great show, except for O'reilly - he needs his eyes gouged out and he ears hacked off and then try to get people to put blind and deaf faith in the media
WTF???? Where was this taken in some alternate universe where Bil Maher actually seems reasonalbe. Question, why worry about the legal ramifications when "protecting" fat people, but when you bring up the same argument for women, gays, and other minorities, you get labeled a biggot of some kind. Here's a sad reality... we're all minorities in way way or another, because no two people are exactly the same. We all have differences that separate us. We need to stop focusing on what divides us
If you guys think Bill is as right-wing as he pretends now, you're being fooled. He has found his niche, and puts on this character to make all the money he has. I am not defending him, I think it's just as ignoble as being a right-winger, but you know what I mean.
Maher dropping the C word (communist)--watching these old episodes, I can't help but wondering if he feels ashamed for his often-reactionary (and uninformed) past opinions.
ROFL...fat people bring it on themselves. It's nobody else's responsibility to push them away from the table or to eat with a spoon instead of a steam shovel.
"PUT DOWN THE FORK AND STEP AWAY FROM THE SERVING PLATTER"
Eating, like all things, needs moderation. There's nothing inherently wrong with cheeseburgers. Eating a couple everyday is when things get troublesome.
What a person eats just may be the business of the government, despite what Bill O thinks (or thought), when increases in cases of obesity are driving coping medical costs higher into the billions.
I like the way Bill O'Reilly thinks a politician in the US actually got elected due to their policies. It seems to be me that is the last thing people take account of when voting in the US. US politicians are more likely to be elected because of their hairstyle rather than their policies!
@Bashimillar I agree. It strikes me as odd that we select the most powerful people in the world through the same process that we select a prom queen.
I am so absolutely sick and disgusted with the current barrage of local and state level political ads. They're all a bunch of liars and panderers. No shortage of mud to sling in both directions. We're left to choose between a handful of shitty choices, or be chastised for not voting.
The...how should we put this...level of popular discourse, politically speaking in the 90's and very early 00's was incredibly petty, and trivial, and incredibly retarded. I'm starting to think there are two main things that started to change that, one is 9-11 that pushed people to start thinking about politics more deeply(even if a lot of people reached wrong or confused conclusions at first), the other is the dominance of the internet, giving people more sources of info, etc.
@Sumoto999 15 year old kids do not give a fuck about bill o reilly if you get thumbs down its just cause people think your a dick and so is bill o reilly
i think they should legalize marijuana..... would solve tons of problems i dont get why people dont want it legalized?? people can get it easyer?? no, anyone could get it in a second just gotta ask some one, its ridicules that pot smokers have to smoke in privacy because if they dont they could go to jail just for taking that one hit
I don't get it, why did Bill O'Reilly use alcohol in his example of the difference between illegal drugs and eating? And how did they even arrive at that discussion? They were talking about the new discrimination law. Did the video skip or what? I just feel like I missed something.
@tomtom108 it's because this was 2000....same with glen beck. Glen used to be a well mannered, even keeled journalist who held some genuinely libertarian beliefs....This was before they both turned into "Louis Prothero" clones. The overused idiom "9/11 changed everything" really applies in this context.
It's so funny when you get someone genuinely, independently intelligent and put them in the middle of a group of averagely smart people: a leader in with a bunch of followers. Maher is supposed to be the host here, but O'Reilly just ends up taking over because he is the only one in the group that can think outside of the flow. @mroy88; You're right, O'Reilly is not a smart man: he is near genius.
I am on Drew and Bill's side. Drew like me is a libertarian and if a law is in place it should be not be pointless and silly. Laws are supposed in place for the good of the people.
What he does not realize is the number of people that are killed on our nations highways do to accidents caused by people having heart attacks while they are driving you would be surprised by the actual statistics
Then it is nobodys business if I want to fire up a joint or drop some acid both drugs of course kill no where near as many people as obesity does. In fact Twinkies if you really think about it kill more people every year then pot does lol
Oh there you go again Bill pointing out the hypocrisies that ruin this country. Yes it is funny how the United States locks up non-violent drug offenders and openly excepts people who are completely irresponsible with their health
@TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 thats because even he doesn't believe most of what he says. He just speaks the point of view that gets him ratings on TV. Its all about the product you are selling, and he sells a product. He doesnt have to believe the product, people just have to buy it.
LMFAO @ Bill Maher saying we've gone down a path of "total communism"! BWAHAHAHAHAHHA! If only the Bill Maher of today could watch this and chuckle. I fucking cracked up.
Wow, back when this was made, it was the good old days. the national deficit was just around 500 billion and it was decreasing, unemployment was at 4.3%, and we were not involved in any wars.
bill orelly the biggest douche ,Look RIGHT WING , LEFT WING, MEDIA ,these people are lying to you add the tax on every dollar you earn and spend a year, right at 47%. So lets say the average income is $39,000.00 of all people in this country. So 250,000,000 times $19,000.000.00 is $4750000000000.00 every year. Not including the money the government gets from other countries WAKE UP.
@mroy88 I wouldn't say that; he's a very smart man, he just has alternate views. Doesn't make him an idiot, just makes him WRONG.. I mean... Harder to agree with.
@litalearthquakes Its sort of irrelevant to the discussion, to be honest.
What about smoking? Smoking is legal and yet you will be discriminated against in the healthcare system if you do. Want a heart transplant? You're going to have to quit smoking.
Whether or not its legal to ingest something is beside the point when it comes to the issue of what is or is not a significant health risk.
@SwayingDaisies That's the case to not have socialized medicine. Just looking at weight to police what people are eating isn't going to work. If we're going to have the right to stop everyone from doing things that aren't "smart", we're not going to have any quality of life. Are we going to not treat torn ACLs in athletes because they should have known better?
@litalearthquakes My comment was picking apart Bill O'Reillys argument involving the illegality of illicit drugs and the legality of a twinkie, pointing out that its irrelevant to any issue of health care, I made no further statement.
If a point is irrelevant, its hardly "sound" is it?
i disagree with him on many issues- especially his foreign policy, but like it or not he is intelligent- ivy league grad and such. Letterman even said hes smart- and that hes "too smart to truly believe what hes saying"
@df61660a Thats called hardheaded and ignorant..To even debate or bring up a point you need to fully learn and understand both sides of the arguement..Bill O'Reilly always throws that out the window and is confident his perspective is the only right one, very christian-like...
Just goes to show how 9-11 ruined America, everyone became irrational

Bill O'Reilly really isn't that bright so it makes me nauseous watching him grin like he's so proud of himself. Yuck.

Joke about Whitney Houston being high still relevant ten years later...
SneakyG101 1 year ago 2
What he does not realize is the number of people that are killed on our nations highways do to accidents caused by people having heart attacks while they are driving you would be surprised by the actual statistics
thelivingfire 1 year ago
Then it is nobodys business if I want to fire up a joint or drop some acid both drugs of course kill no where near as many people as obesity does. In fact Twinkies if you really think about it kill more people every year then pot does lol
thelivingfire 1 year ago
@thelivingfire
pot doesnt kill kill anyone, stupid people just think its a good idea to drive while high
crazyfreek1 1 year ago
@thelivingfire straight up, weed has never killed anyone.
mikecappa 1 year ago
Oh there you go again Bill pointing out the hypocrisies that ruin this country. Yes it is funny how the United States locks up non-violent drug offenders and openly excepts people who are completely irresponsible with their health

Oh. My. God.
Where did this O'Reilly go, and what did FOX News do to him?!

This was back when bill o reilly was rational. Now he sometimes makes good neutral points, but he is mostly an asshole now.
TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 1 year ago
@TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 thats because even he doesn't believe most of what he says. He just speaks the point of view that gets him ratings on TV. Its all about the product you are selling, and he sells a product. He doesnt have to believe the product, people just have to buy it.

Wow. Bill was actually pretty rational here.
It's incredible what happens to people when they get on a rollercoaster of GOP power for 8 years...
Of ANY power for an extended amount of time, for that matter.

LMFAO @ Bill Maher saying we've gone down a path of "total communism"! BWAHAHAHAHAHHA! If only the Bill Maher of today could watch this and chuckle. I fucking cracked up.
darkreign16 1 year ago
Wow, back when this was made, it was the good old days. the national deficit was just around 500 billion and it was decreasing, unemployment was at 4.3%, and we were not involved in any wars.
What happened between then and now?

bill orelly the biggest douche ,Look RIGHT WING , LEFT WING, MEDIA ,these people are lying to you add the tax on every dollar you earn and spend a year, right at 47%. So lets say the average income is $39,000.00 of all people in this country. So 250,000,000 times $19,000.000.00 is $4750000000000.00 every year. Not including the money the government gets from other countries WAKE UP.

o'reilly is not a smart man
mroy88 1 year ago 29
@mroy88 I wouldn't say that; he's a very smart man, he just has alternate views. Doesn't make him an idiot, just makes him WRONG.. I mean... Harder to agree with.
Novetrix 1 year ago
@mroy88 Maybe, maybe not, but his argument about food being legal and not causing intoxication is sound.
litalearthquakes 1 year ago
@litalearthquakes Its sort of irrelevant to the discussion, to be honest.
What about smoking? Smoking is legal and yet you will be discriminated against in the healthcare system if you do. Want a heart transplant? You're going to have to quit smoking.
Whether or not its legal to ingest something is beside the point when it comes to the issue of what is or is not a significant health risk.
SwayingDaisies 1 year ago
@SwayingDaisies That's the case to not have socialized medicine. Just looking at weight to police what people are eating isn't going to work. If we're going to have the right to stop everyone from doing things that aren't "smart", we're not going to have any quality of life. Are we going to not treat torn ACLs in athletes because they should have known better?
litalearthquakes 1 year ago
@litalearthquakes My comment was picking apart Bill O'Reillys argument involving the illegality of illicit drugs and the legality of a twinkie, pointing out that its irrelevant to any issue of health care, I made no further statement.
If a point is irrelevant, its hardly "sound" is it?
SwayingDaisies 1 year ago
@mroy88
You don't make the money he does and not be at least a little smart.

@mroy88 Neither is Maher.

@mroy88
i disagree with him on many issues- especially his foreign policy, but like it or not he is intelligent- ivy league grad and such. Letterman even said hes smart- and that hes "too smart to truly believe what hes saying"
df61660a 1 year ago
@df61660a Thats called hardheaded and ignorant..To even debate or bring up a point you need to fully learn and understand both sides of the arguement..Bill O'Reilly always throws that out the window and is confident his perspective is the only right one, very christian-like...
