  • oh and if you really want this record that bad just do a site search on google/mediafire. Somebody has it

  • God she is fucking beautiful...almost as beautiful as her voice

  • When she sings "yeah-yeah" at 3:37 I just melt - this song makes me feel great every time I listen to it

  • She is more Twee/Pop compromising than anything else... so I agree with WTF do Placebo have to do with this.

  • @LeDoppelganger She was in a band called Placebo in the 90's. Not the Placebo you are thinking of though. :)

  • Could someone explain the feist/placebo link that everyones talking about.

  • i think this is the best album she's made it has that grungy toronto sound that i like.

  • is that a guy in the dress?

  • Has anyone noticed how different her style seems in this cd from her other 2? Maybe not even in this song as much, but in new torch and a few others...wow. AND then I discovered Fesit in Placebo--!!!

  • yes i have also noticed this, and although they're all beautiful the first cd is my favorite too. thanks for the heads up on Placebo :)

  • Cute.

  • I'M DYING FOR THIS ALBUM! i want it so bad, but it is absolutely no where to be found. :(

  • internet

  • i was thinking of making a petiton to get her album back in print, help anybody??

  • il help

    !!

  • I'm in! I'd also love to help if there's a way!

  • yea! do you know how to set it up?

  • Does anyone know why they aren't making Monarch anymore? I mean, if Feist wanted to keep selling it, she could, you know? At least I think so. It's just mind boggling to me, ahaha

  • its probably out of print due to low album sales unfortunately what a dick move

  • In a Rolling Stone article she said that Monarch is like an 'awkward high school photo she doesn't want anyone to look at' so that's why it won't be in print anytime soon. I personally love it.

  • its not in print anymore really? shit i was gonna buy this i used to have it but lost it along the way lol

  • This song is pretty good, even though I don't particulary agree with the title.

  • Also, here hair looks so weird short, but she's still even a great singer back then.

  • I've heard Feist's first album is a bit hard to get ahold of.

  • You can try on ebay, it comes up occasionally. Just be prepared to pony up. I myself came close to, $180 which was low. I don't think it's right for those who are true fans but can't afford that money. But if you're willing, again check ebay but also amazon. You will absolutely love it I think. "A bit hard" is an understatement. I would say more like really hard if not close to impossible.

  • Buy it off I-tunes if it's on there.

Then at least you are giving Leslie something for her hard work

    x.

  • It's not, it's out of print.

  • This was filmed at my old work at the University of Guelph in George Luscombe Theatre. I love Feist, old and new.

  • just simply download the torrent!

  • Ugh. I wish i could get my hands on this whole album. She is so amazing, but it is almost impossible to find this unless you want to pay big bucks. PLEASE REPRINT!

  • I can't get over this. It's like I'm looking at a different person. I wish there was a video for monarch, that's one of my favorite songs in the entire universe.

  • Monarch is awesome!

  • wow how diferent! i think she had the same voice but just didnt know the way to flucuate the way she does now. but i still love this song of hers. you know she still has and uses that same guitar in all her performances. it is pretty cool. she is like a total role model.

  • While watching this on Much, I kept on wondering why the girl looked and sounded so much like Feist.

  • i didnt recognize here without the bangs, but she still looks great

  • You can really see how her hurting her voice changed it..and she sounds great then AND now...

  • that's feist??? wow lol

    she's awesome

  • she is so fucking hot. i want to dance with her in a rock concert while wearing tye die shirts and snaking on sushi and talking about gilmore girls

  • I bought Monarch at her Pyramid Cabaret (Winnipeg) show back in 2000(?). I fell in love with this song right away and then added it to a mixed tape (that had just enough space left over) of classic lullabies for my baby daughter to fall asleep to. If you enjoy Feist's new stuff you should really add Monarch to your collection.

  • Thanks a million for posting! Feist was so cool in her early years and is still the coolest! Amazing video!

  • wow how diferent! i think she had the same voice but just didnt know the way to flucuate the way she does now. but i still love this song of hers. you know she still has and uses that same guitar in all her performances. it is pretty cool. she is like a total role model.

  • it's not too hard to find. i think this is one of the best song's on the album. she uses a lot more strings on monarch. i still think let it die is her best.

  • I wish this album was still available...

  • Leslie is having some fun. This is a new recording. You can tell by the sound quality and the guitar. She's wearing make-up.

  • I would not recognise her at all. Even her voice is different! She has definitely grown, both musically and vocally! I prefer the Feist of Mushaboom. But this is cute!

  • What label was this on?

  • wow she's beautiful

  • delusions of grandeur

  • i thought she looked pretty cute.I think its a great song.

  • she has such a beautiful voice...Ella es much bonita y fenomenal

  • : )

  • songs like "shiny happy people" were out during this time period too, keep in mind. still, how many could pull off a song like 'its cool to love your family', other than how feist did here?

  • this is so 90s, i love it <333

her music's only grown with her. i love how she always channels the times in her music ;)

  • wow she looks way dif.

  • ohh trés belle chanson en meme temps ça ne m'étonne pas c'est feist c'est spendide comme d'habitude

  • Whoa this video is almost a decade old!

  • She sounds and looks a bit like Leigh Nash on this video.

  • i agree. monarch is definitely my favourite album. on "let it die" there were only some songs i liked. but i love everyone on monarch.

the string arrangements were definitely great.

  • Aww Feist..can you believe she was only like twenty-three in this vid? She reminds me a bit of Alanis Morissette but prettier. And I do believe her music has gotten way better since then.

  • oh, wow. she was young back then. I still love her now too ^^.

  • ahah aw she looks so different!

and lol yea her hairs nicer long

    :]

  • sigh . . . thats so stupid man . . .

  • does anyone know why monarch isnt sold anymore? did feist pull the album off herself?

  • yeah i know im wondering the same

    like WTFFFFF >:(

i want it! and the only one on ebay is like 55 bucks, which im not spending +shipping, for a cd

    >=(

i hate being a broke teenager

    hah

someone buy it for me? =D

  • she looks better now.

  • I know Leslie herself doesn't agree, but I like Monarch a lot more than her last two albums. Too much "chill-out" jazzy material on Let It Die and The Reminder (I especially don't like Gonzales' influence). But I'm still glad she's achieved success. I just wish she'd put back some more of the pop/rock influences from Monarch because she was just so good at it. And bring back Dave Szigeti's string arrangements!

  • She looks great in this. For the past year someone seems to have been 'styling' her to look like the massively overrated Patti Smith - which is a shame.

  • lol, mookie2637,

i think shes pretty now. but yea she was cute here too

she looks really likee. young and simple

i think her hair wouldve looked nicer if her bangs were a bit longer though

    lolk:)

  • Based on this, I'd say her music is definitely evolving in the right direction.

  • i love this song! :)

  • sehr geiles lied! :)

  • her hair looks way better longer

  • im so glad i came across this vid, i hadnt heard (or seen) any of her old stuff before. thanks

  • One of the best Feist songs on ANY album.

  • This is really great! I don't really know Feist...haven't gotten around to her yet, I suppose. Thanks for posting this!

  • i agree, monarch is a great album. i also like some of her earlier placebo stuff. loud and gruff. lol

  • Whaaa that was pretty cool. Her earlier stuff is definitely worth a listen if you like Let it Die.
