  • toyota... seriously that BEEP BEEP BEEP? ... i'd rather drive around finding a bigger parking lot for 10 minutes than hearing that beep beep beep sound!

  • i want that :O

  • The thumbnail looked liked Kevjumba

  • so i guess toyota had speedind assist that gets ur gas pedal stuck

  • COOL, wanna the same !!!

  • R U joking. this must be a test system. U pussy's can't drive. u need a computer to tell u how to park

  • Double negative there for those people who want to point that out.

    Oh well

    haha

  • Im a bloke and I have trouble parrellel parking.

This just seems like a lazy way of getting out of it. And what happens if you bump into something. Whats you gunna put down on your insurance forms.

I wouldnt trust this not to go wrong. Hence why i wouldnt get one

  • @2709aaron, that's why they show camera view, and you can see from the window, and you should put your hands close to the steering wheel, so that you can stop it . .if you can't do it with this, you can't do any driving manually or automatically or even in the passenger seat.

  • @undocumentedspot. Its computerised so how is your strength going to cancel wot ever its about to do. Im assuming the brake pedal is the cancel button.

I can parrell park in manual and auto. I just have to think about what im doin now and again.

This just seems to be a east way and lazy way out of it. Its a good idea though. But I would never get a car soley for the IPA system

  • @2709aaron. well I agree with you, me too, I won't buy car just for that. I would prefer manually. i just meant it is not dangerous or hard as you probably can cancel it anytime or override it with the steering wheel and brake. but then of course, here comes possible faults in computer or sticky accelerator. that's another risk you can believe in.

  • @undocumentedspot Pressing the brake pedal fully just stops the car. You have to tug on the steering wheel or press the "X" button on the screen to cancel the system

  • Hope the accelerator doesn't stick.

  • thats fuckin brilliant !

  • I'm a woman so cant parrallel park. I'd love to have this IPA !!

  • By thye time this guy had to press those buttons I would have had the vehicle parked and in the store by now

  • daaang...

  • And now you have to get out of there :D

But seriously, what a nasty beeping.

  • Right...this gadget is just for those people who cant park...

  • those fuckers should NOT be driving in the first place

  • i wonder what the instuctor would say if u used that in a road test LOL

  • cool trick XD

  • Annoying as fuck. I'd rather do it myself.

  • that would be soo awesome doing that during your driving test haha

  • not too bad,...but it's sad that we're getting that lazy. i mean, seriously, if you can't parallel park, maybe you shouldn't be driving at all.

  • what prius models come with that?

  • T-Spirit in the UK, Executive in Germany, G and G Touring Selection in Japan for this generation. For 2010, it is available in the US (a newer version of course) in the Prius V with Advanced Technology Package

  • The steering wheel will prevail !!!

  • good concept, but worthless.. just practice and you will do fine no need for some stupid computer to do things for you.

  • Word

  • I think this technology is awesome, but you'd be screwed if you couldn't park for shit and were also computer illiterate. I could do that park 10 times quicker without that system but for those dumb ass people who dont know how to park I think its great and it will stop cars hitting other cars. Overall it will be quicker because nothing frustrates me more that being stuck behind someone who cant park for shit and you have to wait 10 mins for them to park.

  • The dumb ass people that cant park shouldnt have driver licenses...

  • instead of wasting time punching on the touch screen... why can't people just learn how to park? are they really so stupid that they can't even learn a simple task? -_-

  • They are so stupid that they can't even learn a simple task. That is why there is a market for this.

  • Are you retarded?

Why do people have to use computers to do calculations? Are they really so stupid that they can't do math themselves?

Why do people have to drive cars to get around? Are they really so stupid that they can't walk there?

Why do people use phones? Are they really so stupid that they can't send a letter?

  • wow there. chill.

using the parking technology takes longer than parking it yourself. unless you're retarded.

do calculators work faster or do you work faster?

do cars go faster or do you walk faster?

do phones connect you faster or do letters arrive faster?

You make no sense. If the parking device takes longer than parking it yourself... then there's no point in using it.

besides... if you wanna drive... which includes the parking... then do it right.

  • How fast were computers when they were first created? How fast were cars when they were first created?

Technology requires time and patience to advance. Not ignorance.

  • i like you big time!

  • omg more slow people in the road. fucking technology

  • Seriously man, people are relying too much on it and are so lazy. At jobs, they rely on computers to do everything. They have no working skills at all. It turns into you being paid to stand around rather than to work.

  • Impressive system, but incredibly annoying sounds.

  • Normal people can do that in 15 seconds, and these isn't a deafening beep when we do it.

  • BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!

    argh, my ears...

  • I think we should get machines to do everything for us so that we never have to get good at anything....that's just me though.

  • This is awesome. Thank God for Japan, because can't Paralell park to save my life. I'm not trying to be funny here, some people like myself are not good at the paralell park. I can back in, and drive into a parking spot but I just never got the hang of the whole parking paralell thing. I had to do it for my test buy that was it, since then I've forgotten how. Thank you Toyota for making an "IPA".

  • Germany done it five years before on the VW POLO

  • that parking spot is so wide and easy to park that you don't need the assist thing. i want to see them try in a tighter parking spot...hardly do you find such a nice wide open spot in the city lol

  • You don't need it, but many people do.

  • that's sexy

  • Lol i wonder if you can take your road test with that...

  • lol

  • Thats an ugly car

  • VW's park assist on the Tiguan seems much better and less annoying.

  • It is 4 years newer so you better hope it is. The LS's parking assist is a lot less annoying too. It doesn't have the "the steering wheel will turn left/right" bit.

  • very nice...

    but no offense...

i don't need for assist hehehe...

    sowe....

i just do the 180 degree turn...

    the one with powerslide......

    hhehhe...

  • who has the time to start punching in shit, especially if u live in downtown Toronto.

  • People who can't park? Besides, if you position your car properly (and most ppl don't) then you don't have to adjust anything. Besides, it's called an ASSIST. No one said you had to use it every time you park.

  • and that beeping noise, thats friggen annoying, Ill get a friggen headache with that damn beep beep beep.... go beep urself

  • That's the reverse beep, and you can disable that using a complex sequence of pressing buttons in the Prius.

  • Who has time to start punching in shit.

  • then don't buy the car princess

  • lmao u made me laff

  • the Prius does it? i thought it was only the LS460.

  • Prius was the first to receive this technology. The LS gets an updated version called Advanced Parking Guidance System (APGS). The Lexus version also got rid of that "steering wheel will turn left/right voice." It only says "The guidance is now complete."

  • The UK Prius doesnt say turning left or right. Not that information makes any difference becasue it still isnt that good, or reliable.

  • although park-assist is slow, technology's gotta start advancing from somewhere. it's nowhere near perfection, but don't be surprised if it can self-park in less time than it will manually.

it's innovative, and you gotta give credit where innovative engineering it is due.

  • That ain't true. Execpt for an F1 car, which automatic does change gears faster than a good manual driver? None I tell you.

  • 8-speed gearbox on the IS-F and LS. no one can shift that manually faster than it can automatically, the gaps are too small

  • i can park in about 15- 30 seconds and this thing takes about one min, way to long for me...

  • Lame - learn to drive on your own....pretty soon they'll be thinking for us too....oh, wait - the gov't has already started that program...

  • yep

  • is this avaible in the us versions.

  • No. Only in Japan (from 2004) and Europe (from 2005). The only version avaiable in the US is the one on the 2007 Lexus LS (460 + 600h)

  • holy crap that beeping is annoying, but pretty kewl though, wish i had it for my test tommorow

  • Yes that beeping is annoying.

  • STI CAZZO DI GIAPPONESI

  • what's wrong with doing it the old fashioned way, soon your car will drive itself lol!

  • the lexux ls is to over priced.

  • Yeah. The reverse beep can be disabled on NA cars but can't on European cars. Also, the newer version don't have that annoying "the steering wheel will turn left (or right)".

  • annoying noise

  • our family have that car =P

  • whoa, lol alot of people woud pass the road test, because this is the main reason many ppl fail, not nomore lol

  • This is 4 the ppl who can paralell park

  • lol... after doing all of that and waiting for it to park. I could have parked like 5 times.

  • its avalible on the LS which is $100000 CDN avalible in US and Canada

  • Worthless. If you're too stupid to parallel park you shouldn't be driving.

  • I hope the Intelligent Park Assist comes to the United States some day.

  • it already is!

  • it is now, but it wasn't five months ago the Lexus LS just came out with it. Unless your referring to another luxury car that offers this that i didnt know about.

  • yes there r more lexus's with it
