This is tungsen carbide and if you hit it with anything you can shatter them. Even if yuo drop one on a ceramic tiled floor it could smash. I use tungsten carbide end mills for milling and if you drop these they can be damaged very easily.
it is tungsten carbide when the guy hit it with a sledgehammer it was on wood so the wood took most of the impact if he had it on a hard suface it would have shatterd due to the brittle nature of tungsten carbide

The difference in Tungsten rings is how much cobalt is is in it. More cobalt means weaker the ring. High end tungsten rings are cobalt free.

Tungsten carbide is also referred as a "Ceramic material" It is the most brittle metal and is not solid
