I hate the direction that car styling is going recently, and this Jag is case in point. Instead of looking like a sophisticated gentleman's car, it resembles all the other euro-luxo-barges on the market. That is not to say that I don't admire the design of new XJ, it is sleek and purposeful and full of fantastic tech. thanks to Tata, however it lacks the true Jag identity...

I still like the 2004-2009 XJ better, retro is good like the Ford Mustang 2005-2010 and 1998-2010 Volkswagen Beetle. I guest the 2010 XJ Jaguar will grow on me, maybe.

Incorect. There are ALOT of Jaguar cues. One BIG one is that the car is low long and wide. It has 4 headlights. Has a very small C pillar. Lots of curved lines, shaped hood, pours on class, luxury and performance. No, it is not styled like the old Jaguars, but maintains a Jaguar look, style, and performance.

I can easily see this as a '10 model bmw, maserati- especially maseratii with its headlight style. It's a crazygorgeous car, whatever the case.

Good advertising campaigns with (quasi) famous people does not make a car better.

It still is ugly, the design lacks any balance whatsoever. The front design doesn't match the rear and let's not even discuss the rear pillars.

All they had to do was spice up the previous original XJ design but instead they took inspiration from the Daewoo Espero with the rear column.

Haha. They have been "spicing up the old xj" for a LONG time! Its time for a change! How does the front not match the back? and the rear columns are nice. Have you seen it in person? Looks fantastic. And how so does it lack balance? It follows a teardrop design.

How does it lack balance? The front design doesn't really match the design in the back... sure, the overall profile of the design is matching, but for example like in the front you've got round-ish lights and in the rear they are more squared. But the lack of balance transcends the difference in the design language of the lights, if you don't spot it then maybe it requires a delicate eye...

I understand what you are saying. The lights are a different shape totally. The taillights as you know are totally new, but they are supposed to represent a jaguar's claw strike. I like it, but I can understand what you mean.

i have owned 5 jaguars over the years and this is the best example of jaguar losing any class they still had. more plastic, lackluster cars with no style.

i have rented several new jaguars and they are all pieces if absolute shit. plastic, trash bins breaking off, etc.

they have sold out and have NO idea what their branding should be.

When I saw it this past weekend at the miami autoshow,it brought tears to my eyes,Jag finally got it right.The videos and pictures dont show how beautifull the rear end is.the one word that came to mind when I saw it was opulence.
