This is the game that renewed my faith in the JRPG. It was free as part of a promotion for buying two other PS2 RPGs. I wasn't interested, but figured free was about the right price to give it a try. Of the two I actually paid for, one was enjoyable but forgettable and the other was just plain bad. But, Grandia II hooked me, and I played it, porting issues and all, hours on end through to the end. After 2 years of not finishing an RPG, it reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the genre.

I think this game had the best themes of the Grandia series, too bad the PS2 port suffered from so many issues compared to the DC release (lag issues on just about every map (and the TOWNS!) and a total lack of the new game plus functionality the GC version had.

I love this game, and I still own a copy of it for ps2! I loved the fight against the peices of Valmar song better, but I'm not going to disagree, this song is great too. Finally beat Melfice on a play through without losing anyone during the fight... takes a lot of work...

Oh man, this game...

I played this when I was very young, and always tried to run from every battle. At Valmar's Core, I was level 44. Talk about an epic fight...I died probably a hundred times before beating him.

haaaah.......i've played Grandia II so much, that i basically know everything to it. i can even beat the game without having 1 death in battle. (not game over) i even memorize all the lines from where they first talk to Carbo village.

I seriously have to admit that I died many times in the Valmar Core fight, since I couldn't withstand all the four possible attacks everytime. I especially hated the Dead Claw... XD

Tales of Abyss and Symphonia were one of those Games. I also loved Grandia 1 und TWEWY.

Roque Galaxy instead really sucked at the end so i just rushed through it and was happy after beating it ^^

I think there is no game out there with such a perfect told story (It was hard when *you know whom, I won't spoil the story* died) and such rememberable characters.

It's a shame that the PC-version was only a ported Dreamcast or playstation version, they could have made it with better cutscenes, they are very pixelated.

But it IS one of the best JRPGs out there, for my opinion.

Yeah, I remember using it all the time to cancel the enemy's attack, especially during boss fights when they tried to use overly powerful moves. Tenseiken Slash was awesome.

Only thing I didn't like about this game was the the inability to go back to certain areas of the game, usually right after you left them. @_@. didn't leave much area left for training before the last area.

Did you try the secret stage in the Raul Hills? The ruins are pretty good for that sort of thing, and you can get a lot of cool items for the last bosses.

The only problem is that the gargoyles have the ability to one-shot your part, but that shouldn't be a problem if you cancel the spells. :D

I have to disagree. I thought 3 was a letdown after playing the second game.

I did beat it, but it was a disappointment to me. (Ugh, those characters.)

At least the final boss was a CHALLENGE this time around, even if his battle music didn't fit.

I have not played the first one, but I'm trying to find a way that I can. GII is a wonderful game and I really suggest you play it. Unless you just want to finish off the series, I don't suggest you play 3.

in G2 you have Raul Hills

In G3 the only thing i can remember is the fight againts DESERT LORD but whit a Lv30 you can pwn it ubber easy

oh and, whichever grandia you play, forget of NEW GAME+, they dont know what that means XD

oh i love grandia!! i played the first one ported over by working designs, (including their lunar sssc and lunar 2 eternal blue!), and followed grandia II.. then it started to go downhill.. i have grandia xtreme and grandia iii as well.. but grandia ii was amazing! grandia i was lighthearted, i love the 3rd battle theme in grandia i that plays when you first cross into the new continent!

I have beaten the game ^.^ cool it is :). I know that most of u just go through the levels trying to not lose hp for the final boss but for those who do so I suggest to don't. Explore ANY side of the level , you may find items that will help on your way. And go into any enemy that u possibly can , you will level up and that will make things way more easier for you.

The only reason I liked this game was because of the amazing music and excellent story line. It felt like I was there and I truly felt I was Justin. Games like these make me want to escape reality and just jump into Grandia Reality.
