If you are just some average user uploading a song, then you probably do not have that right to do so. Only people are record companies and the artists themselves...and people with permission-in that case there should be no issue.

A little lesson to the haters: Many of the artists that sign with WMG never make back the money that it costs (paid by WMG) to distribute their work. The profits that WMG makes come mostly from a handful of superstar artists. Without those profits, WMG could not afford to sign new acts. Artists who don't like the contracts offered to them are of course free to sign with another company. @DashJrEX For fair use, the only fair use is with the consent of the written consent of the artist or the recording company. Another fair use is promo versions, for promotional purposes only. Otherwise uploading it to the public domain without authorization of WMG is considered piracy.

On many CDs, especially maxis, you will see something along the lines of "The audio may not be distributed to the public without the consent....prosecutors will be arrested". So technically by uploading copyrighted videos, you are liable to be arrested, because you have violated the law.
Violaters should conside themselves lucky not to be arrested

BTW, the appeal process under Fair Use works well, I think YT just want you to make that complaint and they'll act on it.
Recently I had a vid blocked for sound but using the "political comment" aspect of Fair Use, it was unblocked in minutes.

If you disagree with WMG's business strategy, the most effective action you could take would be to become a shareholder yourself. Then you would have a voice at the annual shareholders' meeting where you could communicate your concerns. All this teeth-gnashing serves no purpose. U.S. copyright law was written the way it is for good reasons, and it offers more protections to artists than similar laws in most countries. Also, the homophobic commenters here should really be ashamed of themselves.

@roboguy75 The problem is the rule clearly states "NO USING COPYRIGHT CONTENT"(or something in that context)-without permission. If you are just some average user uploading a song, then you probably do not have that right to do so. Only people are record companies and the artists themselves...and people with permission-in that case there should be no issue.

A little lesson to the haters: Many of the artists that sign with WMG never make back the money that it costs (paid by WMG) to distribute their work. The profits that WMG makes come mostly from a handful of superstar artists. Without those profits, WMG could not afford to sign new acts. Artists who don't like the contracts offered to them are of course free to sign with another company. WMG's history, though, shows that a lot of acts have stayed with them, even after they didn't have to.
